(At a minimum, one of those "no's" was in jest.)

I've been deceived, abused, and mocked! I'm leaving this thread! (Insert sounds of offended blustering here.)

BT

(If you want me, I'll be over in the "Easily Offended" thread.)

exactly. There are also nail places that have the idols too.

Where do you have your nails done?

(Just read your bio----loved your favorite Bible character---I've read many of his posts.[:D])

[8D] I do them at home now, but I used to get them done at a place that had the little altar and statue, and oranges around it.

The Thai place I mentioned actually had a glass of Coke at one of the altars (and it was on a high shelf above the bar, so it wasn't that an employee had just set his glass there). That just made me chuckle.

I guess this all comes down to personal conviction. Perhaps, one could learn to cook these things at home to avoid eternal damnation. [8D]

I am afraid to toss knives in the air, and flip shrimp in people's pockets. And wher would I put the habachi grill? Plus, I might catch myself on fire making an onion volcano[:D]

Well, the last time I flipped knives into the air, they stuck in the kitchen ceiling. [&:]

As for the shrimp, they have been known to fly anywhere in my kitchen, and the whole onion volcano thingy terrifies me. [sm=chicken.gif]

Gosh:

I cant eat at Asian restaurants
I cant ride in taxis (Middle Eastern drivers)
I cant go to convenience stores (same reason)
I cant do Yoga
I cant buy Asian food at the supermarket
I cant do martial arts
I cant watch martial arts (including mixed)

The real reason Jesus turned over the tables in the Temple was his frustration with all the stupid rules. Extra-biblical manuscripts indicate Jesus liked to bring home take-out for the Disciples and followers.[sm=angertalk.gif]

In many Asian owned restaurants there are statues of Buddha. the owners are known Buddhists.

Should we give them our money? Is their Idol they display in the eatery a sign we should leave?

I love habachi steak , shrimp, and scallops. Do I have to give it up?

Steak is fine - crustaceans however are unclean foods and are to be avoided. Let's not even discuss the pork dishes.

Oh no... I love my blue crabs!!! I just can't give'em up!!!!

lol!!!!

I've been *this* close before to reaching for a donut hole that had been offered to the buddha. [&:]

Just ten minutes ago I flipped a utility knife across the room and stuck it into a pallet. Now everyone's trying to do it. [8D] Who knew all those hours of practicing knife-throwing growing up, trying to be Dan'l Boone would result in a certain amount of skill?

On the issue of Japanese Steakhouses, I wouldn't be opposed to them if I could be sure that they were using fine SD grass-fed beef, and they put absolutely nothing on them except a little garlic salt.

rnershigh -> RE: Habachi steak houses: Should we go there? (7/10/2008 6:31:28 PM)

I've never noticed the buddhas before.
But then I'm asian and I'm used to seeing 'em.
When I lived in Korea, it was not uncommon to see buddhas in shops or restaurants.
So for me, it's not a problem to eat at a restaurant that has a buddha.

There's a running joke in my family regarding my uncle (who used to have quite a little belly.LOL.), whenever we'd see him we'd go up to rub his belly and joke he had a "buddha belly" and say, "Gotta rub the belly for good luck!"
[:D]

Anyways, you never know what chance you could get to share Jesus with someone, so why pass up a chance for good food?[:)]

Someone pass me the A-1 sauce..

SirWintery -> RE: Habachi steak houses: Should we go there? (7/10/2008 7:03:41 PM)

I voted other.

I've now decided to open Josiah's House of Kosher Steaks featuring a non-idolatrous atmosphere near every steakhouse Buddha is operating.

There will be a collection taken for this ministry.[8D]

A-1 would be sinful in Habachi Steak Houses. . .

. . . their meat is way too perfect as it is.

Dad often says, "Buddha happy" when he's eaten a good meal. [8D]

PICKAPEPPA for the win!

Just don't hang any half naked suffering jesus's up over the counter, either. (I hope I didn't offend anyone)

DougHorton -> RE: Habachi steak houses: Should we go there? (7/11/2008 11:00:44 AM)

I suppose if we are not allowed to eat food from sources that are not Christian, we either need to have all of our missionaries return, or start sending over massive amounts of baptized food.

Or... maybe we should send the food anyway.

Would you have to baptize the calves if you send it to a reformed missionary, and the adult cows if you send it to a baptist missionary? If you baptize the adult cows, would they need some sort of profession of faith first? ("Stomp once for saved, twice for ...) Or since they're about to get cooked anyway, is it just the unsaved cattle that are being eaten?
