I know our church does a Purpose Driven Life series once a year during the mid-week service. Right now I'm going through A Life God Rewards by Bruce Wilkinson which to me is similar in that it focuses you on your actions.

This post has me thinking! I really shun self-help books as a rule, because they are so shallow. I've only read one in my life that had a concept I hadn't thought of on my own. (And I won't tell you what it was!). It was not The Purpose-Driven Life. I had an intelligent friend who told me I MUST read it, and it would put my life on track. I got to about the 7th day and still hadn't come across anything that was less than a sure-fire sleeping pill at bed-time and put the book away. I never did get back to it, but I just might, if only to see how truly useless it is. I don't mean to be critical -- I just hate to hear criticism and not know all the sides of the issue.
