Since we are spread out all over America and come from different backgrounds. I thought this would be a good opportunity for everyone to share which church denomination they attend. I will go first and then I would appreciate everyone else to please join in. I attend a Presbyterian Church.

Well, first, I wouldn't be surprised if there are more than a few users on here who are spread over more than just America, but that's neither here nor there.
At the moment I attend a non-denominational Bible church. But in less than a month, I'll be moving and finding a new church home, so I suppose for now I will put *pending*.

It was the U.S. Presbyterian Church (USA) who voted to overturn an historic ban on the ordination of gay and lesbian clergy. The Presbyterian Church in America (PCA) had absolutely no part in that unfortunate decision.

So does that make you an "un-united" Methodist?

Absolutely not! As someone already posted, that was the PC-USA.

United Methodist, at least for now. If they follow the Presby USA, as they very well might soon, we're outta there. Then the search will be on for a good conservative church.

Well for your sake Doug, I am glad.

I was thinking the other day what a disaster that must be for the rank and file of that denomination.

Thanks

I listen to Pastor Erwin Lutzer every Sunday on my way home from my SBC church. Great preaching from a church with a rich heritage.

Did you know that Moody (Arminian) and Surgeon (Calvinist) were good friends?

So far I've been:
Christian Reformed Church(raised this way)
Independent Baptist (not a good experience - don't ask)
American Baptist
Evangelical Free
General Baptist
Evangelical Presbyterian

Currently back in the CRC.
(Can you tell we've moved around the country a bit? Officially, I would be a theological mutt.)

I have a friend who is a faithful pastor in that denomination, and getting close to retirement. He would like to leave but would lose his retirement if he did.

Or Primitive Baptists?

Well I am Baptist/Methodist and some even say I am rather primitive but I don't think that is what you mean.

That's a fun list!

Here is mine:

Nazarene
Evangelical Free
Reformed
Non-denominational Bible Church
SBC

The thing about churches is it depends upon where you live. Leadership can make all the difference. Plus, you don't always have good options available in certain towns, and you may find yourself attending a denomination you never thought you would.
