James 5:11
“Ye have heard of the patience of Job, and have seen the end of the Lord; that
the Lord is very pitiful, and of tender mercy.”

I believe there is a lot of encouragment in this verse for any who are facing various trials.

What does this verse say to YOU?

The single most important verse in the Book of Job and the most encouraging is found in the last verse in the last chapter:

5 "I had heard of You by the hearing of the ear, But now I have seen you with my eyes."

Job truly knew God after all he had been through...who could ask for more?

We overcome by hanging on to Jesus. And the promise is that we will not be disappointed. The Lord is most gracious and abounding in lovingkindness. Job hung on, persevering to the end. He didn't give up on God and he found that God had never given up on him either. What a wonderful thing to know. Man throws man away like a used papertowel. But our great God takes that papertowel in His hand, irons out the creases, dries us off, and prepares us for more and greater use. That's what He did with Job. That's what He's done for me. That's what He'll do for anyone who will cry out to Him.[:)]

I believe strongly in the mercy of God. Because of him, I was taken out of homelessness and reunited with my family. I prayed 3 specific prayers to him, and he answered all three to the letter.

I also have received mercy from people, and I have been blessed by the nature God gave them.

Man's part:

- Endurance
- Patience
- Hope
- Trust

God's part:

- Faithfulness
- Empathetic
- Grace giver
- Merciful
- Just

Obedience.

Good balance, both hands are full.

One thing I'll never forget learning from Job:

Job 42:2 NO plan of Yours can be thwarted.

In other words, it may be seem delayed or prolonged BUT,
come what may, it WILL happen.

Sadly, even our own brothers and sisters in Christ can treat one other in this manner.

But ... if we rely upon God, He will take us and all our faults and shortcomings and use us to His glory.

I care far more about God, and like Job I am able to persevere.

in Job,, His suffering was so great that he wished he had never been born. His wife told him to curse God and die and his friends turned against him and blamed him as if it was his fault so many calamities came apon him.

Job was alone and beaten yet he cryed out to God and his faith never wavered.

His faith stood even if God should take his very life

God in return healed him and gave back to him all that he had lost and more. His faith was made stronger in the deal as well.

So here is an example of " All things turn out for good to those who love the Lord"

He saw the Lord work in his life and that God never left him no matter how the circumstances seemed. That is truly a blessing

The verse encourages me to hang in there and believe the Word of God; just as this one does;

(Mar 13:13) And ye shall be hated of all men for my name's sake: but he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved.

Thanks
RC

I would say Job was blessed but before any blessing comes obedience and Job was obedient and God in turn blessed his obedience very evidently. Most of the promises of God are preceded by our obedience, e.g. "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him and He will direct your paths." (Prov 3:5-6). If we trust and lean on God - He will direct our steps. Many Christians like the promises but don't want the obedience part which goes before the promise of blessing and tend to skim over these parts but believe they can still claim the promise(s).

During this past week, I have seen things printed in the media and am very much aware that the media take the bits of a story which makes for interesting and attention grabbing reading. However, what they don't always do is take the story they are writing about in it's full context because the whole truth is not so interesting! However, by doing so, they are not touching on the complete truth - just the sensationalised bits (or bits that would not be so sensationalised if they were printed in their full context). Such trappings can even change the meaning of a paragraph. Christians can also be guilty of this! We take the bits of the Bible which we like and are comfortable with but don't want the not-so-interesting bits because promises in their full context don't seem so interesting. Also, by taking only parts of the Bible, we can take a text out of context and have it mean something that it was not originally intended. [&o]

Does anyone else agree?
