Here's a rhetorical question that puzzles me often:

Why do people that have no faith in God, have faith in their fellowman
when on the road ?

This I say/think when I see a person wearing no helmet on a motorcycle,
riding their bike/scotter/walking/jogging/running along side a busy road.
I know these drivers, some don't have licenses, many don't have insurance.
They talk while on the phone, smoking, reading or talking with others in the car.
They go to fast and weave in and out of traffic, thinking they're being cool and what's really going on, is I for one, am driving defensively.

Do you have a rhetorical question that just can't be answered?

Why is it so hard for Christians to forgive someone who hurts them, but they're more than willing to tell/preach to others about how we all need to forgive those who hurt us?

Boy TorchHeart,

That's a really good question. I have been asking myself questions about forgiveness a lot these past few days.

I know that I know that we should pray for our enemies but it is so hard, is it not?

What should I do in this circumstance?

My job is delivering papers. In one of my areas are some youths (all boys) that usually play basketball. They are very mean to me. They are older (or some of them are). I've tried to connect to them, have waved, and even tried talking to them some times over the years. I've watched some of them grow from young teens to I'd say almost 20. The other day this one(at the time he was the only one I saw), after I waved at him, grabbed himself in the private parts and made sure that I would see it in my rear-view, as he did it about 3 times in all. I had to look for oncoming cars and he knew that. He was one of the nicer ones, or so I thought. I wanted so bad to confront him but my son called just in the nick of time and told me to let it go. I have added them all to my prayer list, but I don't really mean it. How do you really mean it when you pray for your enemies. I call them enemies because over the years there's the feeling that enemies is exactly what they are to me. ....jmh137

Amigo, I've been dealing with this for a LONG time, now. I have people who I'm having a hard time forgiving, too. And one whom I just can't seem to obtain forgiveness from, lately (and they're a far better Christian than I will probably ever be).

I don't get it. Forgiveness is supposed to be so central to our faith. Its the reason why Christ died for us (so that our sins could be forgiven). Why is it so hard? Especially if its for people you care about?

There's an old Tom Petty song that has the lyrics, "There's no easy way out." I think forgiveness has to be one of the hardest things to get to. Sometimes it comes easy if it concerns our children or someone along those lines. I know that it might sound strange or not just quite right, but think how hard it must have been for our Great God to forgive us. Some people might not agree with what I just said. But the forgiveness that was given to us came at the ultimate price for Him. Maybe it's not suppose to be that easy. And...if we didn't care we wouldn't be worried about it. One thing I know for sure is that I don't know much. .......jmh137

Alright woodsandfield, you get the first shot at this one...

Actually, I'm going to put two in here, and the first is fairly heavily rhetorical.

Given the situation in which someone is going to reply in an either/or response, what in the world is the purpose in posing the question so that it contains both responses??!!!!!!??? This is one of my all time pet peeves.

For instance, "Are your going to wash the car now, or wait until after lunch?" That just makes me want to yell, "Yes!" Now, I've got my theory on this one, and I'll share it sometime.

Question #2:
"Hey! What do you want to do?"
"Oh, I don't know. What do you want to do?"
