What kinds of pasta dishes do you like besides the popular Italian dishes? Salads, side dishes or entrees, especially the seasonings.

almost all of it. I love pasta.

Entree gnocchi or baked mostaccoli/penne

side dish: pasta salad.

My family loves this Tuna and Pasta Salad that I make:

1 lb. cooked Farfalle (bow ties) or fusilli (corkscrews)
2 cans white Tuna packed in water (drained)
1/2 cup diced celery
1/2 cup chopped onion
1/2 cup chopped dill pickle
1/2 cup sliced black olives
1-1 1/2 cups Mayonnaise (depending on how creamy you like it)

-Season with celery seeds, salt and pepper...I also use chopped dill weed if I have it on hand.

-Chill and serve on top of Lettuce with sliced tomato and sliced hard cooked eggs on the side.

*You can also make this with chicken or turkey instead of tuna.

Makes a great summer meal.

Take your basic Brushetta recipe and double it. Toss in a hot wok with whole wheat spaghetti cooked al dente for 5 min.(add a bit of EV olive oil if it seems a bit dry) Sprinkle with a generous amout of Parmesan cheese Yum! If you must have meat add some sliced hot italian sausage. Even yummier! Voila! Pasta Nonni.

Homemade mac 'n cheese. Adding roasted veggies or hamburger kicks it up a notch too.
When you make the cheese sauce, use a little stock instead of all milk, gives a good flavor too.

Also, a greek pasta salad is tasty

I've taken a liking to orzo. This is the tiny pasta about the size of rice. It is handy for throwing into soup or stew.

stellaluna -> RE: Pasta (7/14/2008 9:43:23 AM)

We've started using only whole wheat pasta and I absolutely love it!

Kat_D -> RE: Pasta (7/14/2008 9:59:29 AM)

Oh, I also love Scampi and Linguini. I put my recipe in the "Dinner Ideas for Guests" thread in this folder if you'd like to try it. Yummy!

I love any kind of pasta especially Stuffed shells and Tortelini.

doinkdom -> RE: Pasta (7/14/2008 5:19:37 PM)

Tri-colored pasta
Italian dressing
Small can of black olives
mix it all up and serve cooled

Seashell pasta
Creamy Ranch dressing
Chunks of Tomatoes, cucumbers, seasonal squash
Add however much you want of that fake crabmeat seafood stuff
mix it all up and chill

and my personal favoriate is
Pasta Carbonara (usually spaghetti, linguine or bucatini)
eggs, heavy cream
romano and parmesan
black pepper
and then you can add some crispy bacon or other meat
I would recommend you get a recipe for this until you're pretty comfortable with how to do it just because of the eggs and cream combo.

doinkdom -> RE: Pasta (7/14/2008 5:20:47 PM)

oh yeah and when I can get a deal on shrimp, we have scampi or alfredo

yummy
yummy

I like getting those packets of Knorr pasta sauce mixes and doctoring it up with sauteed garlic, muchrooms and onions. I'll get the pesto mix and make that up and add cooked cold peas, raw tomatoes and onions, and serve it all cold. It's pretty good.
