Casper22 -> What is the book Monster about (7/13/2008 11:17:03 PM)

Is it worth a read? I was told its Christianitys take on Sasquatch is this true. Does the author believe such a creature exists. Im asking because my niece wants me to buy it for her for a school book project is the book sound in its theology? Thanks Casper

A fair warning: it's not a very well-written book. IMNSHO, it's Peretti's worst. It's about the missing link, genetic experimentation, and Bigfoot.

Random -> RE: What is the book Monster about (7/14/2008 6:25:34 AM)

After reading I'm still not sure it's about anything.

I enjoyed it, but it took me a long time to get there.

It is about evolutionary theory and the lengths some will go to in order to prove it is true, genetic manipulation, etc.

How old is your neice? I am guessing she would have trouble getting through it...honest, I was halfway through before I was interested, and I normally LOVE Peretti's work. Theologically I don't think there is anything incorrect, but it isn't a very theological book.

It's like a slow and boring version of "The Oath".

The content may write about that, but in reading the book I think it was more about the secret sin in our lives than anything else. Basically a less successful version of "The Oath" with a different setting and different story, but same purpose/analogy.

Quoted for truth.
