Sons are a heritage from the Lord, Children a reward from him. Psalm 127:3 Our children are special gifts from God. He calls us to raise them so they grow up knowing Him. It's the most difficult job in the world. But, the rewards come from God and they're eternal. Prayer Lord, You've given me such an awesome job to do- raising up Godly sons and daughters. I can only do it with your help. Please help me to remember that they're cherished gifts from You.

Hi Dee, What's your plans for the week? Makeing some strawberry jam now. Cody noticed it was all gone [sm=icon_smile_yikes.gif] Goodness..poor child can't eat grape jam or raseberry jam [sm=popsigh.gif] Then I need to get on that tread mill again. Have some cholestrol tests due next week. They are always lower if I exercise. Plus I can get them front windows washed today finally. During the week-end I did yard work and left the housework for today.

Barb, hope those tests come out alright. Dee, we'll miss seeing you this week. Maggie, thanks for your comments. And in answer to your question about my teeth. It seems I have two abscessed teeth. Have feeling terribly all weekend and was tired last week plus my mouth hurt. Today at 3:00 I had to leave work just couldn't handle being there anymore with all the pain, the coughing and the sore throat. My stomach wasn't feeling so hot either. I went by the dentist and asked if he could give me an antibiotic as I felt the problems I was having was tooth related and I had an appointment with him on Wednesday was supposed to be last Friday but the cancelled and asked me to reschedule. Anyway the dentist's receptionist told me I had to go to my doctor so I went to Urgent Care. Urgent care said my glands were very swollen and all the things I was having trouble with was because of abscessed teeth. She put me on an antibiotic that helps with teeth infections. I really hate going back to my dentist now as I feel the one side that hurts and is abscessed became so after he worked on me last time and the other side became abscessed because he didn't see me when I needed help.

I see I never did post in here today. I did read a couple of times, but wasn't feeling like spending much time on the computer. Thanks for starting us out, Barb. Did you make it to the treadmill today? Get your windows washed?? . . if I know you, you did both those and more [:D] Dee, hope your VBS goes well. It sounds like you all are having a different and interesting VBS, Ginny. Never. Hope they are both very successful. It's been many years since I was involved in a VBS. I went blackberry picking this morning. It was beautiful out! A cool 57 degrees when I left. I picked about 5 quarts of yummy, big, juicy berries while listening to the neighborhood come to life, and the birds chattering over breakfast. I was out a lot longer than I intended to be -- 2½ hours! About an hour of that time was just looking over the berry patch to see where the good picking would be and how many we will have this year. They are just now ripening good, but it looks like we'll ahve a bumper crop. Anyway, I got home about 9:00, took a shower and collapsed. Then I just wasn't worth anything for the rest of the day [:(] . . . in fact, I was in & out of bed, and napping quite a lot. Don't know what my problem was. I didn't have Garrett, and may not have him for the rest of the week. I hope tomorrow I feel like sewing. I did get the man's sports coat finished the other day except for tacking the hem/lining back in place, but it seems the silk jacket I finished earlier in the week is not fitting exactly right, so need to go see what's going on with that. Then all I have left to do is one pair of pants. I might even get some sewing done for me this week! [:)]

Ginny, I'd be looking for a new dentist if I were you! I also hope my testing goes well. The total cholesterol is in the right range..as the HDL, but them nasty triglyccride's and the LDL are alittle up there yet. Overall, back in Jan. they were just a few points up. Don't know why she was concerned. So like I said..if I get that daily exercise done it seems to lower everything. Plus I have put on an extra 5 lbs since my last visit [:'(] I did'ent get on the tread mill today tho. I was busy makeing that jam insted. Made up four batches of it. Then I decided to take all my canning jars down and wash them up. Gotta have them ready for the pickles this fall. Also want to freeze some tomatoes, and make more applesauce. Plus I want to freeze some pumpkin for pies. But that's all gonna have to get done this fall. I'm sort of thinking ahead huh? LOL I made a visit to my local nursery this afternoon. Spent WAY to much money on flowers..but it sure felt nice. Then I came home and worked on my garden. Also bought some different color lilies to plant by my deck. Now I have oarnge, yellow, light and dark pink, and three different kinds on two tonned colored ones. One is a white with a rust color inside. Really pretty [sm=flower.gif] [sm=popsigh.gif] I must STAY away from them flower shops the rest of this growing season. Felt so quilty I made hubby a nice supper of pork chops, potatoes and green beans. Hav'ent told him yet..think I'll wait till later

Good Tuesday morning, everyone. Thanks Dee. I do feel better now, tho I woke with another headache. I don't have headaches often, so not sure what's going on. I guess it could be related to the low dose of caffeine yesterday [&:] . . I do know that this morning I took a migraine tablet (which is a mixture of aspirin & caffeine) and the headache left right away & I'm feeling much better. 'Course, I've had about 1½ cups of coffee already also. It's 66 degrees now, but it was 63 earlier. I already watered & fed my flowers -- got my feet watered from all the dew on the grass [:D] . . . it's beautiful out, so think I will take my books out to the swing and enjoy the fresh air for a while.

Oh! I just noticed that it's not Dee who's having a VBS, but Ginny only [&:] . . . now how did we get that confused. Ok, Dee, it sounds like you are going on vacation (and will only be a few hours north of me!), so I hope you have a good time! . . and if you decide to drive south, let me know & we could meet up -- That would be fun![:)]

I agree with Dee, Leah, hope you are feeling better. Your berry excursion sounded good. I love the sound of birds chirping. Barb, what a great way to save money this winter....all those homemade goodies you are doing and planning. Enjoy those flowers! I had a dream last night. I dreamed that I was watching a neighbor harvest a bumper crop of huge apples and peaches. I mean they were huge and I made a comment to her that it must be going to be a hard winter as the fruit is generous this year. Guess even in my sleep I was thinking about how God always gives a bumper crop before a famine. Wonder if this dream has any significance for our upcoming winter. Who knows. After two doses of antibiotic I am feeling better been taking doses of pain killer too. I am not looking forward to going to work though as I know once I am up a while I will be dreaming of my bed and rest. I still hurt and I know I'll hurt more and more as the day progresses. Ginny

Yes, good Tues. morning everyone [sm=wave.gif] Leah, Does it make a difference when a person waters their plants? I tend to do it after suppertime. Me and my daughter dug up some cone flower bushes this last week-end. They were so big! She took one big bush for her house. She divided it into five different clumps, and planted them on the side of her house. I divided one in my garden and planted them towards the back of my flower garden. They still look pretty droopy. I just water them..and hope I did'ent kill them. Also moved a black eye susan to the back of the garden. That one looks pretty good. But I did'ent divide it. So I had some bare spots in the garden. Got some ground cover flowers and some small flowering plants. Needed different colors in there. Only have the purple cone flowers and the yellow black eye susans. Now I bough some blue and pink flowering plants. And a deeper purple color black eye susan.Also found a silvery looking bush than contrast the rest of the colors very well. Still need to buy some mulch for that garden, but hav'ent done that yet. Mabey next year. My tomato plants look real nice and the cube plants are doing well. Got a bush that grows up insted on on the ground. Had to put a tomoato cage around them.Don't think I will yeild enough for canning pickles tho. Will still need to buy them from a farmers market. But they will be good for eating and in salads. Ginny, Hope your pain will continue to improve throughout the day. I thought of you and the VBS when I found my verse for the week. Next year my grandson will be old enough to join our VBS. They have to be four years old. I would even bring him there everyday for that week. It's just a GREAT program. Speaking of that..it just reminded me of my granddaughter, Lily. She will be two this Aug. Well anyways she does the sign of the cross before she eats now. It's so cute. I'm not sure if she knows what it means, but it's still sweet. I had a nice dream last night. My mom came back from heaven. She was granted two more years on this earth. It was so neat to visit with her again. She was sure to tell us she was only hear for a short time..but we all enjoyed her "visit" just the same. She was'ent angry,selfish,mean,drunk, demanding..but she was the loveing mom we used to enjoy being around. [sm=heart.gif] Well I guess I best start thinking about what needs to be done today...

Barb, what a wonderful dream!! God's so good to provide us with those kinds of dreams as a way of restoration and peace, isn't He? That's so sweet about Lily. No, she probably doesn't know what it means yet, but she will learn, and the important thing is that you're establishing good habits with her now. Watering your flowers . . . the important thing to remember when you're transplanting is to keep them watered good until they are established -- no longer looking wilt-y. As for as normal watering for established plants, the rule of thumb is not to water when they are really hot -- when the sun is on them full strength, etc. I prefer watering in the early morning because that's when they (and me! [:D]) are the coolest, but after the sun if off them in the evening is fine also. The coneflowers should do fine, tho it may take them til next season to really take off. Are these individual flowers growing together in clumps or an actual bush? I don't think I've seen a coneflower bush, but you guys likely have flowers & bushes up there that we don't have. If you can find a plant called a Balloon Flower, I think you'd really enjoy those. They are perennials, and pretty hardy down here. This article says they don't spread, but mine actually have a bit -- not much, so it's not like they will take over the garden, but I have a good sized clump of them blooming profusely that I did not plant, so they had to have come up from the other plants (re-seeded themselves, maybe). I have the blue & white ones, but would love to get some pinks ones too. They are so fun to watch cuz the buds (scroll down the page in the link to the white ones) look for all the world like a miniature hot-air balloon that starts out small then gets bigger & bigger until it 'bursts' -- the kids get a bang of them watching day after day for them to get big enough to 'burst' open.

Leah, The coneflowers are just three stalk flowers. I would'ent say I would call them bushes. I just moved the one plant and it seems OK. The Black Eye Susan are the ones I'm worried about. They are a BIG bush, that we divided. I also think they reseed, because I sure had more than what I planted!They are still wilt-y tonight.. I love the Balloon Flowers. Will have to write that on my "wish list" for next spring. I really do have a list going. I spent the whole day inside today. It's hot and muggy out there. Have the CA going since noon now. I washed most of the windows and changed the liveingroom furniture around. Even dusted. Just had to find something to keep me busy. I really dislike not being able to go outside and putz around. But I guess the rest of this week will be hot and muggy. Well gonna go channel surf now...........

I think your Black-Eyed Susans will be fine, Barb. I'd like to have some of those to plant. I have a bunch of sunflowers coming up around my feeders -- all volunteers. They're so bright & cheery! Gosh what I wouldn't give for a dose of your energy! I've gotten so little done this week, tho I did manage to finish my two sewing jobs I had. Still need to pick up the jacket and work on it, tho. I didn't make it to town today. It's been really muggy here, too, but I've managed to spend some early-morning time outside.

Good Wen. Morning Everyone [sm=wave.gif] Another hot and humid day around here again today. Hope I won't be forced inside the whole day. I do have the deck door open, to at least hear the birds outside.The dew point is already up to 71..and it's only 8AM. [sm=crazy.gif] Leah, I wish you lived closer..I could have given you some of them Black-Eyed Susan plants. I could also use some of this energy around someone else's house. I'm running out of things to do around here. [sm=eek.gif] I should go over by my sister Pam and help her with her basement. She got alittle water damage down there. She has been doing alittle of it at a time. Guess she is painting/sealing the walls down there, along with the floor. But then I would have to drag out three kids, which does'ent sound like fun. They never do well by someone else's house. Gonna search the web and try to find a good recipe for chicken breast today. I never know what to make with them. Would sort of like some sort of casserole or something. Anyone have any good recipie's?

Good morning, Barb . . yep, I sure wish we lived closer, too! I'd definitely take advantage of that spare energy you have. Chicken breasts . . . I do a couple of different things with them. One of my favorites is to sprinkle them generously with lemon pepper and braise them in butter. Some of them are rather thick, so I may actually slice them down the middle before doing this -- it cuts down on the cooking time & keeps them from drying out before the inside is done. I serve those with either parsleyed potatoes or stove-top stuffing, and a vegetable or salad. Sometimes I simply cut them in strips and do a stir fry with them. Then I've done them various ways in the crockpot adding a creamed soup, rice & seasonings for a casserole-like recipe. These are always good served with peas. I'm thinking beets would be good with this also -- in fact, this is making me hungry! [:D] . . . . . ok, guess I better go fix my breakfast & get busy. I have company coming in tonight -- my friend Bernice. She'll be staying until Sunday, so really need to do some work on the house.

My friend Bernice came in last night -- picked her up at the train station around 9:00 then we went to have pizza [:D] . . . she'll be staying until Sunday, so we're off to gave a good time! Hope you have a great time with Bernice, Linda! Hi everyone else! I'm going away again this weekend for a church camp out. I'm kind of scared. In fact my fear kept me from sleeping much last night but I decided that the only thing to do is go despite my fear and tell dh about it so he can encourage and support me. I'm not sure he'll do that--he got really upset about the fact that meals will be shared--but I'm going to go anyway and he seems to still want to come with me.

Maggie, Why are you scared to go? Well it turned out to be..lets say..an intresting day. My little granddaughter, Isabelle, found her grandmas scissors in my knitting bag. She cut her little finger on them! I had to call her daddie at work and we took her to ER. My daughter works there, so she met us. Insted of stitches they used some sort of glue to bond it back together. Poor little babe had to be restrained in order for them to clean and glue it. I felt sooo bad cause she was in my care. I did'ent realize I had a pair of scissors in that bag even. Guess I will watch what's laying around from now on. They wrapped the whole hand up for a couple of days. They don't want her picking at that glue.

Poor little Isabelle! Why am I scared to go? Well, I wouldn't have admitted such a thing even six months ago, I don't think. I'm beginning to realize that I have a certain degree of social phobia. For some things (like travelling all over the U.S and visiting online friends), I have no trouble at all. But other things can be very scary and I'm not sure why. For instance I have missed nearly all the bridal and baby showers I've been invited to in the last 30 years. I think part of it is the I'm not sure what's going to happen and so I feel somewhat out of control. Perhaps I'm afraid of feeling lost or having people see me clued out or making some major gaff. With the camp out, there were a lot of things I didn't know (still are but I had an exchange of e-mails with the church to get some of the answers) such as, when will others be arriving? Meals are being shared so how do I plan for my contribution to that? Do I plan the meal dh and I would eat and then contribute it to the whole or do I make one large dish to contribute or do we each prepare our own foods and simply eat together? I don't know the people, I don't know the set up, I'm not familiar with the exact area where we'll be. And so on. They're silly fears. My mind acknowledges that and actually, now that I've decided to go I'm not as scared. Now I'm having problems with dh. He's in a foul mood and I think it's about this weekend away. [:'(]

(((((Maggie)))) ((((Isabelle)))) What a scary time for grandma!! Is she doing better now? My grandson has been staying with us yesterday and today. Poor little guy he's been with us a lot this week and I've been real sick. Not the perfect time for us to have quality time. I am real down on myself tonight. Got through yesterday and most of today without smoking and then smoked tonight. How am I ever going to quit this addictive habit and walk closer with the Lord? The battle has me thinking I am at a cross roads in my spiritual life and I am feeling doubleminded. And my teeth are still hurting though I am better than I was. Ginny

Good Friday Morning Everyone [sm=wave.gif] {{{Maggie}}} I used to feel that way before church..of all places to be scared about huh? And I feel that way when we are invited to social events, like weddings. That's why I did'ent want to go to that wedding a couple weeks ago. And my husband tends to leave me sit, while he goes off and talks to his friends. So anyways I explained my feelings to him before we left that night. He was so nice about it all...and the evening turned out great. He stayed by my side, and included me into his conversations even. I hope you can get your husband out of his grumpy mood, and will beable to enjoy yourself. {{{Ginny}}} smokeing is a hard habit to break! I've been trying to quit that nasty habit for a while now. Even got the gum to chew when I can put them down. Now I have to put them down [:@] Isabelle is doing fine, and calls the gauze around her little hand her stocking. LOL
