I would LOVE to see some BIBLICAL support of the notion that tables can be possessed, kitchy Mexican souveniers can come alive a-la-Toy Story, or that demons smell like burnt wood.... anyone? Anyone? Bueller? Bueller?

Truly, your condescending attitude doomed ya from the start.

I don't pretend to have all of the answers. Only Jesus does. And we are blessed to have the Bible where we can seek/read/search/find all the direction we should need.

I'm sure there are folks on this forum that are too steeped in "tradition" to reach. But you won't find them on this thread. Some of the finest bible scholars, historical scholars and seasoned in the faith folks have responded.

You cannot dismiss a sincere challenge to accurately apply scripture to your scenario.

And with that: Happy trails to you.........

Qtman -> RE: the smelling of smoke and satan/demons (7/17/2008 11:15:57 AM)

I have avoided this thread like the plague. But I did won't to point out one thing.

This is a forum. A forum is by definition a medium for open discussion. It is not a captive audience for self proclaimed teachers. Anyone is welcome to participate in a forum, within the rules of our host, but this participation calls for discussion not accusations and name calling. Everyone is welcome to state their respective opinions. However it is your opinion and that does not in and of itself make it right. We are all adults and many of us have spent many years studying the scriptures and we all have our opinions of what the scripture say. No one has the right to come on here and demand everyone subscribe to their rendition of the truth. The truth is something we all have to discern for ourselves.

bluestone -> RE: the smelling of smoke and satan/demons (7/17/2008 11:21:04 AM)

I have started a new thread, so as not to get this one off topic, concerning demons posessing inanimate objects, and Christians being posessed.
here is the link

BibleTruth,
Just keep posting! Just keep on posting! There are people here that are close-minded and because they happen to have posted many times feel that they are the authority on ALL things pertaining to Christendom.

I say keep posting because there are those that lurk out in cyberworld. Those who are taking in all that is written. The Lord said that we would be accountable for every idle word spoken...amen!

Keep posting for you are blessing many with the truth of the Gospel in context according to the Lord's will.

blessings to you,

Naw, I'm done here.

The Internet is not really a good place to teach people about the Bible. It's not personal enough to make a big impact. And really most of this is a waste of time for me because the people on this forum are much like pharisees and the church elders of the Bible. Who were so engrossed in the traditions of the elders that they refuse to see the truth and accurate rightly divided word.

I came looking for people who had an open mind and wanted to learn more about what was available to them in the administration of grace. But what I hit was a brick wall of people who did not have any desire to learn anything new. But hey, I can't put them at fault because I didn't come here looking to learn anything either.

Have fun ladies and gentlemen, I will see you in heaven.

God Bless

See you in heaven? I thought you said us that do not see demons in Pepsi cans and in pencils are Pharisees? If so, you're calling us unbelievers, not born-again... so how could you see us in heaven?

And by the way - the Internet is an amazing tool that God uses to equip (1 Peter 3:15) His people in His Word.

And that attitude comes across loud and clear. As I stated, that makes you about 1 of about 72,610 that have come to straighten us goobers out.

slushie -> RE: the smelling of smoke and satan/demons (7/17/2008 1:11:35 PM)

If your attitude is such that you think YOU have the answers so that YOUR job is to straighten out us "goobers" who are wrong, then this isn't the place for you. No one person has all the right answers.

A pastor took a trip to Mexico and bought back with him...a souvenir or someone bought it for him. Either way he brought it into his home. One night in the wee hours, a small noise woke him up. He got up and walked the house and saw nothing and went back to sleep. This started happening every night. Well he started to pray when he got up the last time he heard the noise and asked God to reveal the source. Much to his shock he saw the little figure running. I lie not. Immediately he grabbed the thing and burned it and scaped up the ashes and threw it far away.

HA! I saw an episode on the Twilight Zone Marathon with that exact same story!! Careful, someone might wish you into the cornfield!

I'm getting a headache wondering if the fire burned up the demon in the easily caught running little figure or if the demon jumped into the nearest human when the figure was put into the fire...

If the OP would get the table cleaned, and get an inspector out to give the house a good exam, I think the situation will be resolved.
Why not start with the basics?

CoeurdeLeon_ -> RE: the smelling of smoke and satan/demons (7/17/2008 3:08:08 PM)

Exactly. Why go straight to the conclusion that an inanimate object is demon possessed/attached. Why not consider all the MORE LIKELY reasons for a smell of smoke?

bluestone -> RE: the smelling of smoke and satan/demons (7/17/2008 3:11:51 PM)

My brother had a terrible odor in a house he rented. It seemed to go away and come back again. Turns out the previous occupants had cats...who did not always use the litter box. The owner had the carpet cleaned between tenants, but it needed replacing.

CoeurdeLeon_ -> RE: the smelling of smoke and satan/demons (7/17/2008 3:14:51 PM)

As I said, a house fire would lock the smoke smell in and certain temps and humidity levels will bring it out. I know this from experience having had a house fire 10yrs ago. At certain times, the smell of smoke was as strong as it was the day after the fire.

WesP -> RE: the smelling of smoke and satan/demons (7/17/2008 3:16:41 PM)

Could be vagrants cooking under the house. Meth addicts firing up. Yada, yada.
