We've done to death the never ending saga of which way the roll of toilet paper is supposed to hang. So let's not even go there, OK?

The real question (esp for those married - maybe this should be in the marriage folder after all?) is...

The lid and seat. Up? Down? Both or none?

Bubbles5 -> RE: How about the toilet? (7/31/2008 1:01:43 PM)

Lid up
Seat ALWAYS down. Haveing three boys and a husband I have "fell" many times into the toilet [sm=icon_smile_yikes.gif]
Had to make a RULE around here after them times

stamper_ben -> RE: How about the toilet? (7/31/2008 1:15:58 PM)

I can agree with the seat always being down. After all, if it were the middle of the night and if I had the "need" to have a sit down in the dark I'd hate to get a wet bottom.

But, under ordinary circumstances, isn't it right that since the male half of the household population has to "do their duty" by physically raising the seat to do their business that the other half should also have to do that physical exertion of that lifting action in bringing the lid alone up for their own use?

I mean, that way no matter what the use of the commode, both sexes are being treated equally!

Seat AND lid down. That way both genders must work to go potty!

It's also more attractive and more sanitary that way.

When I'm doing somethign and drop say my makeup brush, I don't want the possibility of it falling in the toilet.

Great point Christine![sm=thumbsup.gif]

Seat and lid down. It is very "un Feng Shui" to leave the lid up. According to those in the Feng Shui know to leave the lid up is to allow your energy and finances to ---well--go down the toilet

Bubbles5 -> RE: How about the toilet? (7/31/2008 4:43:01 PM)

Guess your right. Both seat and lid should be down. We just never got into that habit I guess.
On my toilet the seat does'ent stay up anyways.

Kerrlaw -> RE: How about the toilet? (7/31/2008 10:00:30 PM)

Mrs. Kerrlaw rules in these matters and she wants the seat down and the lid up.

When I pee, I am supposed to raise the seat and then lower it.

Seat and lid down.

I see common sense and equality is leading the day by one vote out of the seven who voted....

elastic -> RE: How about the toilet? (8/1/2008 3:21:37 PM)

seat down, lid up.

our cats wouldn't let us rest if we cut off their fresh water supply.

they use their regular water bowl for bathing in, and the toilet for drinking water.

crazy cats, both of em'[8|]

I prefer seat and lid down.

A friend of mine made her husband sit down to go wee. It was her rule and he followed it.

Isn't going potty, in and of itself, work enough?

It's a comfort zone, not a battle zone. Well, depending.

both down. with the lid down, there is less moisture in the air, thus less chance of mildew or mold getting a foothold in the bathroom

that's interesting. I'd never heard of that before. Is this something you heard somewhere? Or have just learned via experience?

bluestone -> RE: How about the toilet? (8/4/2008 3:11:36 PM)

I used to live in an apartment with mold problems. The bathroom always seems damp, so after scrubbing the place down, I thought I would try leaving the lid down to see if it helped, and it seemed to. I had no more mold problems.

I also kept my can of silca gel I used for drying flowers for arrangements in the bathroom too, with the lid off. (no pets or kids at that time)

christsstar -> RE: How about the toilet? (8/4/2008 3:16:17 PM)

Interesting.

Apartments are the worst for bathroom ventilation. The fan just doesn't work well enough, and since usually you are surrounded by other units' bathrooms, there's no windows. My last apt the bathroom was so deep in the apartment that I couldn't even get a floor fan to circulate the air from teh bedroom into the bathroom. It was awful. I had horrid mildew at that place.

My current place is pretty good. I have a window too, though, so that helps. I usually crack it when I take a shower and then close it when I'm done for the day. There's also a humistat that turns the fan on when the humidity gets too high and then turns off when the humidity is down. That helps so I'm not running the fan unnecesarily and don't have to leave it on all day when I'm at work.

Do we know the same people? [:D] I wish I'd had the guts.

Seat and cover down, no matter which bathroom. If it's in the house, it's seat and cover down.

Toilet Wars. It's a cold war here. So I have my own bathroom.

stamper_ben -> RE: How about the toilet? (8/11/2008 12:19:16 PM)

I'd think especially in the outhouse it'd be both seat and lid down.

As for the cold war, ever think about trying a portable heater in the loo?[;)]

armydude -> RE: How about the toilet? (8/14/2008 10:29:46 AM)

I have my own input into the toilet seat up/toilet seat down debate. If people would turn around and look before they sit down (both sexes) nobody would fall in.

I agree.

However ... it still looks prettier to have the seat and lid down after going to the bathroom.

Consecrated2God -> RE: How about the toilet? (8/14/2008 12:22:07 PM)

I don't really care whether the lid is up or down, but the seat needs to be down.

Since I clean it once a week, I think I'm doing my share of the work. [;)]
