Try to keep it to one sentence. For example, here is mine:

Even if you find someone compatible, you and your partner will have to develop compatiblity over the years.

Having a good marraige is not so much attained by finding the "right person" but by being the "right person".

Women should always maintain their friendships with other women, because of course, your boyfriend / husband can not and doesn't want to be a girlfriend to you.

Always remember that your relationship with your spouse (or future souse) is the most important human relationship above any other.

I can't just pick one :)

"Let God be the pilot, not the co-pilot of your relationship"

"Treat your husband like a king and love him like its your last day together; treat your wife like a queen and love her like its your last day together"

"Love stinks" (Thank you J. Giles Band)

Also, another good one:

"Women marry men expecting them to change, and they don't; Men marry women expecting them not to change, and they do." (That's from an old stand-up comedy routine, but I find it amazing and hilarous how often this seems to ring true.)

It's the things you have in common that draw you together; it's the things that make you different that keep you together.

In talking with a wise woman, that after making mistakes how to know someone is good for you... I thought this was some of the best advice I have ever been given about relationships.

"If you want to know it's a good relationship, you will see your relationship with God grow stronger; a bad relationship will take you away from your walk.

1. The mask comes off after the wedding.

2. Whoever said marriage is a 50-50 lied. It's giving 100% everyday that makes things like God wants them to be.

3. cherish every day with your spouse one day it will be your last

"Get away from there, Andrew!"

(Father to his son on an old Barney Miller episode; the son has become captivated by a very attractive and polite and refined woman who has just been arrested for prostitution.)

To Men: when trying to make a good impression on a woman the old saying applies "Be Yourself"

except I believe that its sort of misunderstood by many men to mean 'oh, so i should explain to her about who i am'
so they do that instead of "being themselves" through actions.

its literally be yourself, and if taken as so then is invaluable as advice.. anyone agree?

Ninjaearth -> RE: The greatest one line advice on relationships you have heard. (9/8/2008 4:24:01 PM)

In order for a man to love a woman, he must first love himself enough to change for her sake, since Christ changed and gave Himself up for the one He loved.

To Husbands: Christ never said to UNDERSTAND your wife - just to love your wife.
