butterfly123 -> Is God angry when we give into besetting sin? (8/17/2008 8:32:57 AM)

If not anger than what emotion? I myself wonder this. I certainly feel convicted when I give into something that has tripped me up for what feels like forever. If I give into something that is spur of the moment, not thought about, just happened in the course of the day, then I just ask forgiveness and go on. Maybe that particular sin will be an issue in my life again, maybe not. Still the conviction is much "lighter" kwim? But, if I give into something that I have been struggling with, then the conviction is like a sledgehammer and the contemplation afterwards much more intense. I do think I am not guilty of feeling false guilt, and I know upon confession we are forgiven, and I even know that God is not angry, but I have to wonder about the difference in experiences. Is it just the extra time we have struggled with the sin? Is it because we rightly have a fear of God in us?
