Well, I don't think a guy has to get regular manicures to look attractive, but I'm pretty blunt about it when my husband has bad breath or body odor. That is not attractive.

Right there with ya sideways... I think a man should (now aside from working or doing strenuous activity) be dressed neatly and smell good :) I'll even buy the cologne!!!! Nice clean haircut is good too

Bad hygiene is a MAJOR turnoff. Bad grooming...well, I prefer men who know how to dress for an occasion. Hair brushed or combed at all times. I have no problems with jeans and t-shirts--my favorite mode of dress myself, but you have to know when that is or is not appropriate. I don't think you need to "dress up" for church, for example, but you should dress like you have some reverence for God. Like khakis and a polo shirt or something similar. And dress like you have some slight reason to want to impress me (see above). But for sports and other outdoor adventures, jeans and a T are fine. Of course, I prefer a man to wear an undershirt as I'm not thrilled with seeing his "man-boobies" when out in public. But being tasteful and clean are usually enough.

I was reading Does a man's job make a difference? and saw this mentioned. Is all bad grooming a turn off for women or just certain types of hygiene instead?

Grooming is a matter of personal style which simply results in difference in tastes. Some hairstyles take a tremendous amount of "grooming" just to look "ungroomed".

Hygiene though, is a matter of cleanliness which can result in health issues. Not only can it affect you, but you could give someone a mild social disease if you are slacking on the hygiene.

Hygiene is of UTMOST importance!!!!
