What does free trade with China (which I oppose by the way, and came about under Clinton) have to do with 'bailing other countries out'?

We have a trade deficit because Americans by cheap Chinese goods - bringing our troops home isn't going to change that.

Actually, the trade deficit with China is because of bad decisions that have no bearing on the military. There was no consideration of the lack of quality control anywhere in that country, the horrible state of labor sites, etc.

We owe China because we bail out other countries. If we bring our troops home and minded our own business, we wouldn't owe anybody anything and could then take care of our own country.

Actually, we spend more money on China's garbage than on any other country's goods. The military is not near enough expenditure to fix our economy.

I wish I could agree with you on that, DD, but last time we tried it Hitler had killed a few million people before the Japanese bombed us and pulled us into the second World War. In an age of nuclear weapons, that seems a tad unwise.

I'll tell ya'll straight up, my opinions are based on what I feel is a good reason to go to war.

Oil is not it.

Hussein was not it, only because that country had lived like that for thousands of years, before America was even thought of.

Africa has been the way it is for hundreds of years.

These things are beyond our control and resources, We can extinguish one fire only for another to immediately pop up again.

We aren't the world's police, we can't be. Do ya'll really want every one of your tax dollars to benefit another country?

I have enough of a problem paying taxes and not seeing the benefits of my dollars around here, much less watching them go to another country for rebuilding when one of our bridges took so many lives, and the levees in NO broke.

The knew this stuff, had our tax dollars and DID NOT act upon the knowledge they had.

This is a huge problem.

Is New York City and the Pentagon being attacked by terrorists hijacking our own commercial airplanes and flying them into buildings a good reason?

Honestly, I lean toward the side of it being a set up. So, no 9/11 being an excuse for war to cover up the desire for oil is NOT a good reason. The sad part is that OUR people were sacrificed for it.

Completely discount 9/11 real quick. You are talking about how the war and our soldiers are costing us so much, and then you are taking the other side and talking about the oil we went to war to get. We do not get free or cheap oil out of the deal, and we certainly did not expect to. If we did, the war would be free, but that is not how it works.

Uuuuumm, no. They are both the same side. I believe the war is about our wanting oil. I believe 9/11 was an excues to get the American people to support the war. I am not in favor of us being over there for oil. I'm not in favor of us being over there at all.

Free oil?

It will never be free. Don't you know how many lives it has cost?

It's greed, plain and simple.

I know the majority don't agree with me, and that's ok. I don't need to convince you and you don't need to attempt to convince me.

We can agree to disagree.

What does speaking ability really have to do with how well a person can run a country?

I'll remember to pose this question to the next person I hear commenting how GWB must be the village idiot because he's not the best public speaker!

I always think, why do Smart people really believe this when the record is clear?

Iraq is not Saudi Arabia. The hijackers were from Saudi Arabia, bin Laden? Any one seen him yet?

Saddam kept Al Quida out of Iraq, which is not what we can say about this pres.

No it's about the fact that Saddam Hussein took over a country, Kuwait, and then had his behind handed to him back in the first gulf war. When he failed to abide by the treaty he signed to save his sorry hide the UN gave him 17 or there abouts opportunities to comply. He refused we went in to finish up the first gulf war.

I'm not even going there on the 9/11 issue because of TOS. All I can say is loosen the tinfoil.

My brother worked in Kuwait not too long after the invasion and some of the things that was done to the Kuwaitis was not reported on. The Iraqis were brutal to them.

What I find interesting is the number of Democratic (and some Republican) men who seem completely threatened by her; I think it says a lot about a man when he can't handle the thought of a strong woman.

lets not forget Billy Graham is a 'product of a rape'. what if his mother would have used her 'choice'? We would have lost a great evangelist. Again ALL life is precious, even if it came about by terrible circumstances. Thank G-d Mrs. Graham believes that.

Are you sure? 'Cuz I read his autobio and don't remember anything about this. Are you thinking of James Robinson?

After the DNC hubby and I were commenting on the number of people the cameras showed crying during and after OB's speech. With the temple like setting, IMO, it was downright scary. Crying? Give me a break.

So, we were wondering if there was going to be weeping during or after McCain's speech. What do you think?

Watching the RNC...so far former Redskins coach Joe Gibbs has given the best speech of the night.

He presented the gospel and said that both McCain and Palin will lead America back to God.

Amen!

I actually tried to look this up last night but didn't have much luck, maybe someone else can do better. But does it seem like the protesters at the RNC are being more violent then the ones at the DNC?
