May I ask how talking about poll numbers regarding NObama is getting back to this issue at hand? Because The Old One and Caribou Barbie are slipping backwards.... My thoughts on this are that the numbers NObama has are just his so called bounce from the DNC. All the pollsters and even several people on this board said it would take about a week for those numbers to reflect the reaction. Just read the thread asking where the bump is. I believe that after the RNC the numbers will swing once again and McCain may even end up with a one or two point lead. But the real numbers will come once the debates start. But also keep in mind how far off the poll numbers were during the primaries.

then, i kindly ask you to set the example. (rather to not be on the defensive, but to argue objectively by using objective facts and directly standing up for them) can we agree on these minimal terms? (at least it isn't parliamentary procedure) no no. You set the example. And can you get everyone else to go by your rules, please. Otherwise..... Tracy, i thought i was setting the example (and i believe others might be able to vouch for that), please tell me if i wasn't and how i can correct my actions. I don't mean to harm anyone. i sincerely hope everybody is learning to respect others, but we need to objectively argue the facts and directly stand up for them. i think we can agree on that. if you refuse to do the minimal as that, then i am afraid you are leaving yourself as a mockery of your own views.

Actually I thing you need to worry about how these constant attacks against Palin and her family will backfire against the Democrats. People are really getting angry about this and not just Republicans or Conservatives. I agree with Obama and others that Palin's family should be off-limits for public scrutiny, but he doesn't control the media or blogs. Besides, even Fox is posting breathless reports today about Palin's future son-in-law attending the RNC convention in St Paul; they are as guilty as any lefty news source of selling the sensational aspects of Palin's life. But as for public or media criticisms of Palin's politics, she's fair game.

Back to OP. did anyone see the young Christian singer last night?

And remember how completely WRONG they were during the last presidential election.... My point is that conservatives on this thread have a double standard regarding poll numbers: if Obama is up by a significant margin, it's dismissed out of hand; if McCain is up, it's a giddy sign of his impending victory in November.

C'mon Todd, be honest, liberals do the same thing in reverse. Personally I don't think the polls will mean anything significant for another two weeks at the least. Let's get both conventions and at least one debate under our belt; after that, we should have a pretty clear idea where this thing is headed (again, assuming the pollsters don't repeat their mistakes from 2004)

They have a double standard period. Teen pregnancy was NOT a good thing until we found out Tina Fey's daughter was pregnant.

Agreed, but Tracy's double standard observation is dead on. Look at how in the GOP's eyes, Obama's lack of experience is so dangerous and risky, and in Palin's case it's something to be exalted.

As I've said, I'd much rather the VP learn on the job than the President. And it's still odd that suddenly the left is so concerned about experience...

If you're asking if I'd prefer her over a hotheaded, diarrhea-of-the-mouth jerk like Joe Biden, I would think the answer would be clear. If you remember a lot of people had the same concerns about Dan Quayle a few years ago...
