shadowspring -> RE: Colored leaves and crisp air: September HS chat (9/1/2008 9:50:33 AM)

Happy September, all! [:D]

I have so much housework to catch up on. No more computer for me until I get at least half of my list done. TTFN!

Homegrownkids -> RE: Colored leaves and crisp air: September HS chat (9/1/2008 9:54:20 AM)

Fall is my favorite season of all[:)] I LOVE it!

Happy Labor Day. Dh is laboring away today, so not much of a holiday for us.

I just found something really cool. Staples had a calculator as the free item this week. I went and got it because other than on m computer I don't have just a basic calculator. I got it and it's not just a calculator...it's like the "Little PRofessor" that they had when I was a kid. I can put it in quiz mode so it will ask the kids their basic facts. For a kid that is much more fun that doing it on paper. It's also a regular calculator but it has the quiz mode on it too.

I love Fall too. We're even having a bit of fall weather this morning (and yesterday). When fall is here and you can feel it in the air, it makes me feel like making a big pot of soup!

zoebob -> RE: Colored leaves and crisp air: September HS chat (9/1/2008 11:46:56 AM)

The girls have a youth group picnic today at the youth leaders' house so I am at my mom's house now. I'll get up in a few minutes and clean...I'm her maid. The youth leader is just a few blocks from my parents' house so it's closer to come here than go home and they are on vacation.

When we were getting ready to leave I told DS "grab some ramon noodles or something for lunch" As we pulled out of YL's driveway he asks me "what's for my lunch?" Umm, didn't you bring your noodles buddy. "You never told me to." [:@]So, I ran up the street and got him a couple $1 items from McD's. He's apologized 1,000,001 times already

Won't your mom let you guys eat something at her house?

Happy September, Everyone!

Today marks the first day of the new school year here. I am not sure how school-ish we will be though, lol. I am still not feeling great and we have to go out to a friend's house so Nate can try his BB gun before the 30 day warranty expires (can't shoot in city limits). Then we have a family BBQ at 4.

It isn't fall-like here except that the temperature is less than 90 most days now.

zoebob -> RE: Colored leaves and crisp air: September HS chat (9/1/2008 12:06:33 PM)

oh yeah, she would. However, I don't think there's anything here he would eat. NOt enough to fill him up for a meal at least. She doesn't keep much in the way of convenience foods. They probably don't have any lunchmeat. They would have bought enough to get through Friday since they were going away. I'd have had to find something to cook from scratch and I don't want all that mess. Even something like grilled cheese wouldn't happen here because they eat wierd bread and wierd cheese. I'mnot even sure if they have a loaf of bread around: Dad tends to eat rolls from the bakery for his sandwhiches.

Shells54 -> RE: Colored leaves and crisp air: September HS chat (9/1/2008 12:44:40 PM)

Happy September everyone.
We are having an OK day of school we are getting some accomplished not a ton.
Still having a hard time getting my 8 year old to get motivated and do something. She is complaining that its to hard. But she won't even try so I don't know how she is coming to that conclusion.

School hasn't started yet as Dh is taking the week off of work. He's out getting us lattes from the new coffee stand that opened recently up the road.

Yesterday Dh found a 10 gallon aquarium on Craigslist for $10. So today he's going to clean it out and set it on the counter and then we'll go look for some fish and an algae eater. My son is nearly beside himself with excitement about this.[sm=funny.gif][sm=funny.gif][sm=funny.gif][sm=funny.gif]

How nice. I like aquariums, but couldn't see taking care of it and we sure have no where to put anything like that. I'll just have to be satisfied with my cat.

Bagel -> RE: Colored leaves and crisp air: September HS chat (9/1/2008 1:18:57 PM)

We have 5 cats and I think that they are going to be VERY interested in the new aquarium and it's residents

Jenny-Fair -> RE: Colored leaves and crisp air: September HS chat (9/1/2008 1:23:27 PM)

I used to have a giant fishbowl on top of the microwave which was on a microwave stand, when I was a teenager. It had 2 goldfish in it, I think. I also had a Siamese cat named Twinkle. He would jump up on top of the microwave and drink out of the fishbowl. I never saw him try to capture the fish, just enjoyo fish-flavored water, lol. So he got hit by a car and had to have one of his front legs amputated. After surgery, he went bounding across the dining room to jump up on top and drink, only he couldn't get far enough off the ground. He smashed into the front of the microwave and slid down it like in a cartoon! It was hilarious. I felt badly for him, though, especially when the birds figured out he couldn't jump up on the fence anymore and would sit on the fence laughing at him!

I wish it would be below 90 here.

I can't remember if I told you before, but our tambourine leader has left our congregation. She is not attending the breakaway congregation but is searching for a new church home. She felt we were heading in a non biblical direction which is why she left. I became the tambourine leader a couple of weeks ago.

This past Friday night, we discover that the regular dance leader is leaving us for 9 months. Her husband has a work opportunity in France which they are going to take. They leave at the end of the month-hopefully she will still be here for our Yom Teruah dance, since she really likes that song and dance.

So I am the dance leader-for the weekly worship dances, for the special dances and for tambourine/streamers/flags. The bad thing about this is that if for any reason I can not attend a service, there is no one else who can take over.

I sure will miss our regular leader (whose name happens to be Lisa). We had a great partnership going when it came to dance-we just started clicking with each other and thinking the same way about dances and we did not even have to work at it.

I am also concerned about remembering the dances, should we come up with one we have not done recently. We could bounce ideas off each other to remember them, but now I am the only one who has that long term memory of dances.

I am both excited and hoping I don't get overwhelmed either.

Jen, there was a man who set up a target on the grass next to the parking lot in the apatment complex. I sort of yelled at him because the grandkids were riding their bikes out there. He didn't say anything but looked a little bit angry..........

cynthia -> RE: Colored leaves and crisp air: September HS chat (9/1/2008 2:51:13 PM)

My husband's grandfather left to be with the Lord this morning at 7:00 am eastern time.
We are leaving for NY tomorrow morning early and get into Binghamton in the evening. This is bitter sweet. It won't be the same without Gramps there. It's been seven years since I was last there. Weird. It doesn't seem like that long.

cindybode -> RE: Colored leaves and crisp air: September HS chat (9/1/2008 3:48:08 PM)

I'm sorry, Cynthia. [:(]

It is not allowed to be September yet. I don't have any hay in the barn (because my dh was supposed to order it and didn't) and we can't go into fall without any hay. Therefore, September is on hold until I get a few hundred bales put up. [&:]

I'm working today, so no BBQs for me.

Praying for your safe trip.

Shells54 -> RE: Colored leaves and crisp air: September HS chat (9/1/2008 5:02:06 PM)

Cynthia sorry for your loss and praying for you and your whole family.

Homegrownkids -> RE: Colored leaves and crisp air: September HS chat (9/1/2008 5:05:32 PM)

We took the day off today to enjoy the last day of summer weather!! We went swimming. Tomorrow there is a chance of T-storms, and our day is packed!! Then, on Wed, the high is only in the 60's!!![sm=icon_smile_cold.gif]. It looks like the rest of the week will be cooler.

I am praying that tomorrow works out. It is such a full day and I REALLY wanted to go to a homeschool kick-off picnic with other homeschoolers, but I'm not sure if I will be able to get there on time[:(]. It really depends if they will still let me cancel those dentist appt. that I have cancelled twice already, but for whatever reason they still called on Friday to confirm them, I wasn't home to un-confirm[:(] They make you pay if you don't cancell them within 24 hours, even if your sicker than a dog, or the weather is nasty. It is a discounted place, so I suppose they do get a lot people that don't follow through.

I'm in total agreement with this.
