Welcome to the new month. School has been in session for most of us for a week or two and the heat of summer is winding down. I for one am so glad of that.

Let us know what you are up to, share your joys and struggles of life.

Wow, I am so time warped. Yesterday was my student's birthday, but for him it already was sept 1st. We are all exhausted. But tomorrow is the first day of school for three of my kids and then my student starts on Wednesday.

My last load of dirty laundry is in the dryer!!!!!!! The only dirty clothes in this house is what is on bodies right now! Well and whatever they managed to stuff under the bed and I didn't find. But the VAST majority of it is done!!!

Blessings,

Yay, Garsy! It's a good feeling to be caught up with laundry. I never realized this until the laundry and toy room became Brian's room, so I *have* to stay caught up with it or he can't get around in there. Folding and putting away can still take a little time, but there is never more than one load of dirty clothes here anymore...woohoo!

Noah starts school Thursday. He's excited. I'm... I told Brian he's not allowed to poop after Noah leaves for school.

I've still got to label all Noah's school stuff and do at least a quick sort and organize through his clothes. Yeah, right...when???

Well, ds is in week 3 of school and eldest ds returns to college this week. I'm typing this in a dining room that has an assortment of "dead" pinned and unpinned bugs arranged on my table (for the big science project) while my ds finishes his homework.

I hope that everyone had a nice day off today...our school was in session and I had to work a full, tiring, day at the store.

You are made of very stern stuff. I'd be trying not to be grossed out. Even a dead bug

It is not easy to be interested in cooking here during this "icky" time. Most people probably don't realize that bugs can really stink when decaying.

Ugh...

Thankfully, most of the "bugs" have stabilized now. Hopefully they won't all fall apart before this "thing" project is due.

I have my last one in the washer...does that count???

With all the storms going around I haven't been properly motivated to do laundry. Always afraid my mum is going to call, 'batton down the hatches! There's a tornado blowing in!!!' *grin*

But she didn't so now I'm running around trying to get it all finished before I go to bed.

Errgh

We are running out of water. We had been so careful and we started to do the dishes more frequently because they pile up. I don't know if that made a difference or not. Poppa said it will be fine by morning and I'm holding him to that.

Mbee, is your well running dry?

I'm only washing two loads today. I'm just not in the mood, so I'm only doing enough to get us going tomorrow. I still have towels and brights.

It's not the washing and tossing in the dryer that I hate - it's the folding and the ironing and the putting away that gets me! We don't have enough dresser space for the younger kids either. I need to get into Aryn's stuff this week and figure out what all can be hung up to make more space in her drawers! Ethan's too.

I folded that last load and after baths and the day, and cleaning out under two beds looking for a library books I already have another small load to do. It's just one of those things that I can't win.

Back to routine tomorrow! I'm going to be digging around in the kids' rooms for two missing library books. One is due tomorrow so I have to find it.

But in all my looking tonight I did find a number of things -

A library book that has been missing for at least a couple of months now. I was able to renew it 5 times and it's not due for another week or so - but it was so nice to find it ahead of time!

Aryn's missing necklace. Grandma bought her a special necklace that they watched the artist make with her name on a tiny rice seed in some sort of fluid. It's beautiful and special since Aryn can't find anything that is personalized unless it is specially made.

A handful of guitar picks that the cat must have gotten into because they were all under the microwave stand in the kitchen.

a set of pliers and a pair of scissors

several glasses

And lastly Ethan's music book!!!! That is a big one because Ethan and Aryn had been sharing and now they don't have to.

Blessings,

Garsy

I like that part too. Although, I understand it is harder when you have a space issue.

I'm glad you found all those missing items.

We have had less than an 2 inches of rain in the last month of bright sunshiny days.

The well is shallow so when it is dry there is slow recovery time. They both showered and ran the well 'out' but not really. But, we lost the prime in the pump.

But it has been reprimed and the water is back.

I don't know what to do, because it is their HABITS that cause the problem. Neither one can shower without needing to sit and flush first. They each go thru two - three sink-fulls of water to wash their face (acne) and brush their teeth. DeeDee has thick, wavy hair that is hard to rinse and they both have oily hair that require at least two 'latherings' (is that a word?)

Other than nag them to turn the water off when they brush their teeth - what is there to do? Teach them to poo another time? We are still using that water in the evening? 5 minute showers. Easy for the adult who never had acne problems and always had short hair to say but the reality is they are washing well to avoid problems.

We had said one shower a night, take turns, but they are getting older. And, a morning shower won't work well because of the rest of the house and only one bathroom. Poppa is up between 4-4:30 now, he gets me up at 5:30 and the kids are up at 6. They catch the bus at 7, Poppa leaves afterward and I need to be on the road at 6:30(ish) There just isn't an hour to spare and that is what we need for either one.

And, writting that, I see how rediculas it all is.

And, if that is my biggest problem, life is good.

I found the missing library books!!!!! And I didn't have to tear apart bedrooms to find it! Yea! Now I just have to put my living room back together. Weekends are rough on that room! I started vacuuming and pulled out the couch and there the missing books lay! Yea! And better yet. . . I found the books before Brian left for class so he was able to drop off those books that HAD to go back today for me! The rest will wait til I go in tomorrow for Ty's back to school night.

I'm so glad our well is one of the deepest in our township! Our neighbors to the south of us and one block over are having similar problems! It hasn't rained here in a very long time. I mowed about a week and a half ago but it really didn't need it and it was mostly to knock down the weeds.

Ty is doing very well in school! His lowest grade is a C+ and that's in German. He needs to step up there and maybe see if he and a friend of his can schedule some study sessions together. Everything else is sitting at A's and B's. He is getting an A+ 100% in his AP courses too! The only class that hasn't posted any grades yet is his honors Biology class.

I talked to the Music teacher this morning at the elementary school. She told me that the art teacher's daughter is not doing well at all and just this weekend took a turn for the worse. They don't think she's going to make the end of the month. This is SO hard for the kids to understand, especially the older ones that know so much about Miss Courtney and her mom. This is going to be a tough month. I need to contact the principal and see if we can't do something big at back to school night next week to let Ms. C know that we love her and are there for her.

Well I should step away from the computer and get the living room finished and start chipping away at my to-do list.

Blessings,

Garsy

Garsy, so sorry to hear about the teacher's daughter. I hope you are all able to reach out to her at this time. Support is so important when someone is going through something like this.

I finally got caught up with all my paperwork at work, now if I can just get caught up at home. We've been busy these last few weekends, but this Saturday we have a day without other plans. YAY! I did get caught up on laundry and did vacuum, but I really need to mop and attack the girls' room. I've threatened to bring out the big trash bag and throw everything away that I have to pick up!

We've got to sort through everyone's clothes and take some to the local thrift store. We've almost run out of drawer and hanger space. That must be so, otherwise why would the kids leave clean clothing stacked on beds and dressers and chairs?

We'll need to get caught up soon, as other activities will soon begin to crowd our weekends and evenings. I hope, I hope, I hope ...

I have several library books to return. I really should organise to have J and X dropped at the library one afternoon so I have a reason to go there.

J got kept in at lunch time yesterday. He and a friend were mucking around and being disruptive. Can we say J has a problem with personal responsibility? It was all his mates fault!

Well I missed most of the August chat, I'm not even going to attempt to go back and catch up on it.

Donna, that is one absolutely gorgeous baby girl you've got there! I hadn't seen your update anywhere yet, congrats on Baby Esther!

Karaboo, is yours a boy? I see the blue blanket and hat but that's not always an indicator. What a cutie, I can tell already that he/she looks a lot like you!

Hubby thinks he's going to enjoy this semester, except for Calculus. This is his third time to attempt it and he HAS to pass this time, he graduates in May. They should have a really interesting senior project if it gets approved.

Kids are doing good in school. Nathan got the same teacher Dana had in 2nd grade. I really like her, I hope he gets along with her well. His behavior (in the past) has always been really good up until after Christmas break, and then moves quickly downhill until summer break. Hopefully this year will be better.

He did get off the bus the first day punching his sister because she had the nerve to get off in front of him. I came home and sat in the bathroom and cried for twenty minutes at the thought of him reverting back to the behavior we saw at the end of last school year, especially after he had such a great summer. But a nice little chat with his Daddy (and his Daddy's belt ) got that straightened out.

Jacob moves up into the Pre-K/K classroom at church next week. Eeeep! My baby's growing up so fast. I got bumped up to teacher (instead of teacher's helper) in the 2 - 3 yo class. That'll be nice, I'll get to concentrate on the fun stuff instead of running around trying to keep kids quiet and seated and taking them back and forth to the bathroom. It'll also give me the chance to "adjust" the crafts that aren't really age appropriate and/or are just...dumb. I like to have crafts that reinforce the lesson, not just give them something to do for twenty minutes. The only real problem will be being able to pick up the curriculum and get the lesson prepared during the week, we live about 45 miles from the church so I can't just run in and make all my copies and all that during the week like the ones who live nearby.

If any of you have read my posts in the women's folder, I am going to start selling handcrafted wall hangings on etsy.com. I got my account set up and registered this weekend, hopefully I'll be able to get some pieces ready and listed next week. I'm very excited, I hope I'm able to sell some. I don't expect to bring in much income from it, but they're so much fun to make and people really enjoy them. It's nice to have something to "Do" again that's not just the same ole' same ole' (laundry and dishes and vacuuming, ya'll know how it is LOL).

Gustav has us very, very wet right now. It's been raining heavy and steady all day long. I'm very glad we live on a hill, flooding's not a concern here. I imagine it's over the road down by the lake though (about a mile from here).

Noah's first day of school tomorrow. Just today we got around to going through his school clothes and seeing what he has. I *thought* we were okay...um...yeah...the kid grew a lot this summer. Hardly any of his pants fit him and those that do won't for long. (Throwing out the guilt that wants to hit me for not knowing or doing this earlier...I don't need or want it.)

I'm trying a new thing with him. Instead of having all his school shirts hung up and his pants folded in the drawer, I'm going to put outfits together and stack them on top of his dresser. Then I don't have to worry about him grabbing a long sleeved shirt when it's 80 degrees out or wearing things that don't go together. He can just grab from the pile.

Noah's pretty excited, I think. I'm a little apprehensive to see how it all works with the chaos and all the doctor's appointments. And how I get through the day with the three little ones and Brian. We are moving Brian's commode over the regular toilet (it can stand on its own or fit over the toilet) so that if he has to poop, I don't have to empty it. That's been a Noah job and I just can't deal with it. So the man is going to have to get into the bathroom when he has to go. He can get in there to sit and shower now with help, so he should be okay. The bathroom is right off the room we made into his room.
