So Tracy was your post derogatory or not?

PALIN brought up the part about the pitbull and lipstick in her speech last night at the Republican National Convention in ST. Paul, MN on Wednesday Sept 3, 2008.

Pardon my stupidity but What in the world does pitbull and lipstick have to do with race? Have I missed something?

The thread is Palin RNC Speech. If you want this to be a tracy, tracy thing, you can PM me!

Was a good speech, was'nt it?

Did she talk about her beliefs in God? Her faith, etc?

Did you like it?

Pat, last night in her speech, Palin made a joke saying 'you know what is the difference between a hockey-mom and a pit bull . . lipstick." That may not be an exact quote, but it's the gist of it. It was meant to be funny. Tho it may fit

Yes, Tracydolls, her speech was good -- excellent, actually. I don't think she 'talked about' her faith or belief in God, etc., but she did reference it when she said she'd be praying every night for her son, and every other person serving our country. Again, not a direct quote. She's also spoke about her faith before last night in reference to her son Trig. It's been mentioned by her a few times -- maybe several.

Yes, I like it.

Sarah Palin asked the audience what the difference was between a hockey mom and a pit bull. The answer - lipstick.

I read that Palin pulled in 37.2 million viewers across broadcast and cable networks, according to Nielsen Media Research. She came very close to Obama's 38+million viewers last Thursday night.

But I understand her speech was carried by 4 fewer networks. Hmmmmmm.

Well it's hard to do that when you're busy helping those who can't help themselves...

and yes Jesus was a reformer but the type that was for the poor and needy.

Remember this in John 5 (Now there is in Jerusalem by the Sheep Gate a pool, which is called in Hebrew, Bethesda, having five porches.)

This place still exist today except there are some who speaks as if it no longer exist but all is well. There are many folks waiting for someone to help them in. Let me ask you this how many times have you visited this pool (it's in place that so many of you will never set foot) it's far from your churches and your homes and worst far from your hearts.

Well, sir, in all due respect this thread is about Gov. Palin. And she knows very well about the pool in Bethesda. For she visits that pool everytime she nurses her down's syndrome baby that most people would have aborted or unconditionally loves her daughter who is pregnant out of wedlock.

I am sorry if her comment was offensive to you. I have visited that pool many times myself and I, personally, did not find her comment offensive. Please understand she did not mean it the was you are taking it...She was not demeaning community workers with her comment

I, personally, would appreciate if you would not judge my brothers and sisters on here. There are many here that I know that sacrificially give of their time and hearts and, yes, visit the people in that pool....

You know, I thought it was very significant (and very telling of our liberal-biased media) that her crowd wasn't mentioned last night -- at least not in the part that I'd watched, and not in any lead-ins I've heard since then. Yet after the Dem convention one couldn't turn on the TV without being bombarded by announcements of 'the biggest crowd in history' claims . . . so she was carried by 4 fewer networks, huh. Amazing.

Personally, I do believe the dems are scratching . . . maybe even shakin' in their shoes a bit?? . . . for sure they recognize they've got someone to contend with here.

I am always amazed at the number of people who invite others to brag about their good works in order to prove their righteousness.

Not the sort of person I'd want to be associated with.

You asked for examples of what Obama was involved in during his C.O. days and what he learned from it, and I gave it to you. The text in question was also written by Obama, not Alinsky.

Why don't you stick to the main road instead of spinning off into random side paths that have nothing to do with the subject at hand?

I know for sure that BET is one of the four fewer networks. I wonder why BET didn't cover the RNC? Another collective Hmmmmmm

Both me and my wife watched her speech although we should have been asleep since we had a busy day today. My wife said that before she was a little worried about voting for McCain she wasn't after watching Palins speech. We both got a little teary eyed when Palin talked about being an advocate for special needs families. I did feel the was too much attack on Obama but I realize that its just politics.
God Bless

By the way, here is where you can get a full text of Gov. Palin's speech and see the video, for those who weren't able to see it:

http://www.johnmccain.com/informing/news/Speeches/c1af6c79-f5bf-42ed-9fb9-9e83b0c580e1.htm

A part from it that I very much appreciated hearing:

Politics isn't just a game of clashing parties and competing interests.

The right reason is to challenge the status quo, to serve the common good, and to leave this nation better than we found it.

No one expects us to agree on everything.

But we are expected to govern with integrity, good will, clear convictions, and ... a servant's heart.

I think many other families who have special needs children were very touched by Palin too. I'm sure they could use an advocate like Palin in the White House who understands them as well.

Todd, I really don't know where you're coming from. I haven't asked you for any info. Go back and look. I've made some statements and your responses are a complete mystery to me. The one book I referred to was written by Alinsky, not Obama and it was dedicated to Lucifer.

Now, can we get back to the subject of the thread?

Although I am leaning towards Obama\Biden, McCain and Palin are coming to the town where I work tomorrow - Cedarburg, WI (I live in a neighboring town)!!!

It's very exciting and I look forward to hearing them! Even if I do vote for Obama\Biden and McCain\Palin win, I'd still cheer them, because there are a fair amount of things I agree with them on.

Peace and God bless,

Don't lurk, get your paws dirty.

It's great to see democrats have no monopoly on "caring" as the media implies often.

I do wonder how many people having kids with special needs were drawn in by her speech. thousands? millions? TBA.

Yes, I watched it on C-Span last night and heard the joke; all but rolled on the floor laughing --- it was a really good one.

My question to stampinlady or tracydolls was: What did it have to do with race?

(Thanks Dave, this is for you too)

Pat, go back and re-read my posts.

Race has everything to do with this race on both sides. There will be those who will only vote for Obama because he's black and those who won't vote for him because he's black. The same with Palin only add to her that she's a woman.

My comment about race was directed at Tracy because of her negative comments towards Palin. I sinply asked her a question.
