I loved her speech.

To those who believe she was "bashing" CO. That is not what she was doing. I am guess I could be thrown into the category of a CO along with many others on this thread who work though your church/non profit organizations to help meet the needs of the people in your community in some organizational type of way. I am also an ex-social worker for "pay". Now I do it for nothing.

I heard her saying that a CO experience does not qualify one to be president of a country. It's a "minor" thing that even many of us do for free everyday of our life. Hundreds of thousands of us do it and don't pretend it's "more" than it is.

Race has everything to do with this race on both sides. There will be those who will only vote for Obama because he's black and those who won't vote for him because he's black. The same with Palin only add to her that she's a woman.

I don't disagree with you, Deb, but I also don't think there will be a significant number of ppl allowing race or gender to be a deciding factor. Not that I think there aren't many ppl out there who would feel that way, but, at least in my small corner of the world, most of those ppl won't vote and wouldn't no matter who was running. Just my opinion, I guess, but it's based on a few conversations I've had lately with a fairly broad base of people around here.

Can you belive this Boston Herald Writer????

You're not very familiar with the Herald, are you? If you want real reporting, you buy the Globe. If you want sensationalistic tabloid-esque news (a la the NY Post), you buy the Herald.

I sure hope not because it's so wrong.

Oh someone comented that she didn't have a teleprompter, but she did and I saw it. I think someone else did too.

Yes, it is wrong. And dumb.

She had a teleprompter, but I understand that it messed up in the middle of her speech -- it kept running during the audience's applause, so it was ahead of her. She had to wing it. Did a purdy good job of it too, didn't she! . . . . someone also point out that Obama's teleprompter also messed up -- which is where he started stuttering and wasn't able to get on track until they got it fixed

She did have one, but it malfunctioned through a portion of her speech

I am always amazed at the number of people who invite others to brag about their good works in order to prove their righteousness.

An interesting factoid about the 24 hrs immediately after Palin's speech:

1) The McCain camp collected $1M in new donations
2) The Obama camp collected $10M in new donations

Definitely interesting. If I had to guess, I'd say the Democrats are scared

Another interesting factoid: the preliminary numbers suggest McCain's speech received a higher Nielsen share than Obama's.

Obummer has been outpacing McMaverick throughout the campaign. If GOP is not picking up $$, I wonder why. You got a link?

I'm far too lazy to go looking for the article, but Drudge had a headline about several million dollars coming into GOP coffers over the two days after Palin's speech just yesterday. So there's a disconnect somewhere.

Well it's hard to do that when you're busy helping those who can't help themselves...

and yes Jesus was a reformer but the type that was for the poor and needy.

Remember this in John 5 (Now there is in Jerusalem by the Sheep Gate a pool, which is called in Hebrew, Bethesda, having five porches.)

This place still exist today except there are some who speaks as if it no longer exist but all is well. There are many folks waiting for someone to help them in. Let me ask you this how many times have you visited this pool (it's in place that so many of you will never set foot) it's far from your churches and your homes and worst far from your hearts.

Well, sir, in all due respect this thread is about Gov. Palin. And she knows very well about the pool in Bethesda. For she visits that pool everytime she nurses her down's syndrome baby that most people would have aborted or unconditionally loves her daughter who is pregnant out of wedlock.

I am sorry if her comment was offensive to you. I have visited that pool many times myself and I, personally, did not find her comment offensive. Please understand she did not mean it the was you are taking it...She was not demeaning community workers with her comment

I, personally, would appreciate if you would not judge my brothers and sisters on here. There are many here that I know that sacrificially give of their time and hearts and, yes, visit the people in that pool....

That's the interesting thing about the pool in Bethesda, it's not about family but about the perfect stranger who don't know who has done nothing for you. If only us as christians responds with such understanding when we see other teenagers get pregnant out of wedlock (Jamie lynn spears who's not saved so deserves it)

Of course I have no reason to find it offensive I mean ( I guess a small-town mayor is sort of like a community organizer, except that you have actual responsibilities.) Community organizers have no responsibilities, non whatsoever.

I am glad you said "in that pool" because many certainly need the healing in the hearts( Luke 6:45) for the things that comes from their mouths.... oh my

here's some clarificatiopn on recent fundraising.

Barack Obama, 47, reported raising at least $10 million from more than 130,000 donors today after Palin, the Alaska governor, addressed the Republican National Convention in St. Paul, Minnesota, and criticized the Democratic presidential nominee.

McCain, the Republican presidential candidate, raised $10 million after Palin was selected as his running mate Aug. 29, part of his record $47 million haul last month.

Sounds like she helped both sides.

I really don't think Sarah Palin is responsible for democratic anger since its always been there.

Gore and Dean have been the poster boys for this.

That's why I wasn't impressed with Obama's grim faced speech.

Oh please...Obama and Biden were definately criticizing McCain in Denver (as if they wouldn't), but they didn't make it look cheap and personal like Palin did.

Plus, when did Obama knock Cindy McCain in his speech because Palin knocked Michelle Obama? I thought Palin lived under the firm belief that family members were off-limits on the campaign trail.

Uh, that story is two years old.

Plus, you can call Obama a lot of things, but cranky isn't one of them. I've never seen the guy lose his cool.

I thought her speech was a little embarrassing - "Sarcasm is the last refuge of the weak," or however that saying goes. I found her comments about community organizers terribly insulting (esp. given her rather less-than-scrupulous mayoral tenure).

I kept waiting to hear oh, gee, something about her actual goals? Her practial plans to fix all the "wrong?" Something about why I should vote for her?

Instead, all I got was cracks on Obama, and exaggerated (some just outright false) claims on her experience/service. And more 9/11 hoo-ha. Let's get real, GOP. I want to know exactly what you plan to do about the war (or will you just let God handle it?), the economy, health care, the crumbling bridges and levy systems across the country, oil dependency, etc.

I realize the conventions are little more than pep rallies, but both speeches were great disappointments.

Last night, Jon Stewart had a hilarious response on this.

I can't repeat what he said on a "family" blog, but you can check it out on the Daily Show website (from Sept 4 broadcast).
