Oddly, ,many of the indiscrepencies being presented as facts by the GOP are so easy to research and refute, it doesn't even take the sort of investigative work programs like the Daily Show does to point them out. It will be interesting to see how it all develops, once the hurrahs of the conventions settle down, and (hopefully) the race returns to discussing actual issues. ETA: Speaking of reading, I just read an op-ed piece that put into words my gut reaction, watching Palin's speech: "Many pundits in reviewing her polished performance claim to see an unflappable and gung-ho winner on stage. My honest-to-goodness visceral reaction was quite otherwise. What I saw on that stage was the personification of small-minded smugness, an utter lack of humility, a kind of self-righteous entitlement based on little more than puffed-up narrowness. She struck me not as plucky but, rather, as stunningly immodest--to the point of arrogance. Some people are arrogant and maybe deserve to be. They know it, and flaunt it, while everyone else thinks they are jerks. But there's another kind of arrogance, perhaps harder to spot at first, an arrogance that apparently doesn't even recognize itself as such, a sanctified, self-satisfied presumptuousness that flows from sheer naïveté about oneself and the world and manifests itself in giddy ambition." Which most often for me, has described Democrats. Last night, though, esp. with Rudy G. and Palin, the GOP joined in. /sigh I really just don't like any of them.

Yea it's sad, as talented as those two gals were , when they were interviewed they sounded like goofy , dim-witted school girls, they're probably democrats that never matured past their 20s.

Sounds like the same sort of sentiment Obama shared by accusing middle America of 'bitterly clinging to God and guns'. Now, if we are optimistic about our country and its opportunities, or display confidence about our ability to take advantage of such opportunities, we are, "self-righteous" and display "puffed-up narrowness" and "presumptuousness ". Let me tell you what is arrogant. What is arrogant is a left-wing candidacy and media that despises everyday America, loathes self-sacrifice and self-determination, and wished the common man would just leave them alone to do what they would with the reigns of power. It reminds me of the line from Barton Fink about the playwright who claims he cares about the 'common man' - Obama and his entourage doesn't care about me or my community, he is just a tourist with typewriter - I live here.
