stampinlady -> Does Obama have leadership qualities? (9/4/2008 3:47:56 PM)

While I agree with much of what Obama stands for I'm concerned by this voting "present" insteadt of making a decision. Read this an comment:

StephK -> RE: Does Obama have leadership qualities? (9/4/2008 3:50:04 PM)

IMO no. Leaders are able to make split second decisions and live with the consequences. Obama can't respond well off script. Obama is also a whiner when people talk about him. He is not thick skinned enough to be a good leader.

rcjames -> RE: Does Obama have leadership qualities? (9/4/2008 3:56:42 PM)

UUUUhhhhhh, mmmmmhhhhmmmm, aaaahhhhhhhh, weeellllllllll, eeeerrrrrreeeerrr, uuuuuhhhhhh, aaaaaaaahhhhhhaaahhhhh.

That would be Obama's response to this thread on his owm without the keepers and the teleprombpter.

The guy has not had an original thought since he forgot where he lived in New York, who his freinds were there, and who he smoked dope and did drugs with.

Thanks

Oddly enough, there seem to be a splinter minority of Republicans who have the nerve to criticize Obama's speaking abilities...

...expecting everyone to just ignore the past seven years of Bush 'great moments in Presidential speechifying".

tracydolls -> RE: Does Obama have leadership qualities? (9/4/2008 3:59:56 PM)

He's ran a brillant campaign with several hundred people.

Beat Hillary and now about to beat the Republicans.[:D]

I must be living in a flashback; I did not know that George W was running again; if he is then he has my vote.

Oddly enough, these threads are not about Bush. So....what is your point? Should his name come up in every Obama thread? [;)]

I have no problem criticizing Bush's speaking style which bugs me to no end.

StephK -> RE: Does Obama have leadership qualities? (9/4/2008 4:15:22 PM)

There is a difference between being able to give a good speech and being a good leader.

That's just because you wasn't ruized in TExas.

He sounds just nearly completely about OK to us.

Bas -> RE: Does Obama have leadership qualities? (9/4/2008 4:29:18 PM)

Being able to speak and inspire people--and he has clearly inspired many many people--is indeed a leadership quality he possesses. But that is his only one I can think of.

Zhi -> RE: Does Obama have leadership qualities? (9/4/2008 4:32:00 PM)

I'd say he has some leadership qualities. He seems very personable and straightforward. He gives a good speech on national TV. People are willing to follow him. All of these are important leadership qualities for a Presidential candidate.

There are, of course, other qualities necessary for a good leader, such as how he is under pressure, how well he thinks on the fly, and how well he presents himself off-the-cuff, so we'll see how the debates go.

davemiller7 -> RE: Does Obama have leadership qualities? (9/4/2008 4:35:44 PM)

Gee, haven't you heard? That rascally Bush has declared the country a monarchy and he has assumed the throne! He's like that, you know. Just ask any liberal/socialist/Democrat.

Hummm..if I read it right present/yellow is "neutral"? Than he may go ways of diplomat as Switzerland steryotiping goes?

Thinking before act is a good quality thou..I am impulsive myself many times still do not tend to go with the flow.

I do think he has leadership qualities as the other candidates also, I certainly think he would make a great diplomat about being President dont know yet.

EStan -> RE: Does Obama have leadership qualities? (9/4/2008 4:50:06 PM)

I think Barack Obama has some great leadership qualities. If I agreed with him on just one issue, I might vote for him.

" must be living in a flashback; I did not know that George W was running again " sound familiar?

Practice what you preach, Rev.

Well, close anyway. He was born in COnnecticutt, lived up to high school in Texas, then did high school at Andover (Mass.), college at Yale (Conn), and grad school at Harvard (Mass. again), before moving back to Texas as an adult.

stampinlady -> RE: Does Obama have leadership qualities? (9/4/2008 5:04:36 PM)

This might be a moot point because I just found this site:
http://projects.washingtonpost.com/congress/110/senate/vote-missers/

Anyway, I heard somoene mention the "present" thing and wondered what it meant. I know that senators have people sit in for them and maybe this is what is going on.

Tracy, do you really think HE ran his campaign????

Exactly what he said. Running for President was proof that he was qualified to be President.

I guess that's the best he could do.

Sounds ok to me too, RC![sm=cowboy.gif]

ayani -> RE: Does Obama have leadership qualities? (9/4/2008 7:27:43 PM)

I think he clearly has some qualities you want in a leader:

He's inspirational.
He's good at getting people to act.
He has integrity and honesty.
He can win a long underdog fight against a tough opponent.
He's deliberate, and consults the opinions of others, including opposing viewpoints.

Now, those aren't the only qualities a leader needs, but they are valuable.
