Jessica, we have Praise Baby and Isaac and Isabel both love it! Even hubby likes to hear it in the background, so many kid-music videos are cheesy and kind of annoying, but Praise Baby is really well done and soothing. I always buy it as a baby gift for people.

{{{nicole}}}

{{{Rami}}}--just the other night Biruk rolled out of our bed onto the floor. He'd been nursing and we both fell asleep. Then, it was dark and i was half asleep and I realized when I tried to put him back in our bed that I had picked him up by the ankles and was holding him upside down, poor kid.

Last night, I heard Akeelah whimpering. I figured she had just lost her teddy so I went in with the lights out and reached for what I thought was her teddy. Instead I got diaper. When I turned on the lights I found Akeelah asleep completely naked!

My mom has a story like this. It's funny 23 years later, of course, but wasn't then. My brother was always such a wiggle worm. When he was about 9 months old, they were trying to sleep train him with the CIO method (which they later repented of). He screamed and screamed and my mom finally decided to check on him. She found him stark naked, and it was the middle of winter, freezing cold, in this huge drafty old victorian house. He had gotten out of his footie pajamas, the onesie underneath, and his diaper.

Another "worst mom" story from my mom...I was about 4 1/2 and my brother was 1 1/2. He had just started walking, being delayed a bit. We two were at daycare, and the kids were left unattended for a while. Some of us were playing on a small trailer, making it go up and down, and somehow my brother got his leg under it as it went down. He cried, so we knew he was hurt, but we didn't tell the daycare lady what had happened, thinking we'd be in trouble. She told my parents, but they thought it was just a bruise. They got concerned though because he reverted back to crawling and refused to stand up. After a week, they took him to a doctor, who said "His ankle is broken". My parents are both doctors. They were mortified they hadn't realized that and that they'd let my brother suffer for a week. I was too young to be mortified for my part, but looking back I guess that also qualifies me as "worst sister", since I didn't tell my parents until after my brother's ankle was in a cast what actually happened.

I've applied Icy Hot in place of Diaper Rash cream... the bottles look identical
I have also folded my son up in his stroller - he was a preemie and so tiny. It was a full size stroller and we had it *totally* collapsed. Makes my heart race just thinking about how horrible that must've been

I need to get lots done today too! Hubby and I had an awesome weekend, we got way more done than either of us expected to do. He is almost done school now so we are going back home this weekend so he can hand out resumes. I am praying so hard he will get a job back home so we can move, I can't wait to be close to our families again!!!!

This week is going to be a very good week I think. It is my birthday tomorrow and some really good friends invited us for dinner and she is making my favourite dessert! Wednesday is our long awaited ultrasound and we finally get to find out what we are having!! Then Thursday we are leaving for home to visit. I am very excited.

I still have mountains of laundry to tackle but the rest of my house is clean so I just can't avoid it anymore. Mary and I are going to take that on today.

I would seriously cry if my dryer broke. I don't have or want a line to dry things on. Dryer drying is one of my few splurges.

We have nowhere to go today, so I need to get a lot done today too. Bathrooms cleaned, upstairs picked up and swept, lots of decluttering and organizing.

we line dry some things anyway...in good weather...so it's not like I can't do it. I kinda like it actually...the kids love to help and I like to watch them help!!!! I don't like it for a few things though....clothes aren't as soft as the dryer, and they are more wrinkled (and NO I do NOT iron!!!)....but overall it isn't so bad. I did it for years when the older kids were small. I didn't have a line here until a few months ago when the dryer went out....Paul strung me some line up in the funniest way....I really should take a picture of it....it's strung between the fence posts and trees in a zig zag along the side yard...lol. I can usually get about three loads out to dry at once.

Maggie...my older brother gets the "worst brother" award according to some of the stories she has about him...lol. Like the time he had me climb down into the heating duct to get toys that had dropped down in there, and in the process I fell through the CEILING into the kitchen below...and it was 13ft ceilings at that!!!!

I need a new monitor. I think my dad has one I can use but I won't see him until next weekend, and in the meantime I have reviews to write, and I'm not getting email.

We have gotten a bunch of school done this morning. Hoping to go out to visit our friends this afternoon. We haven't seen them in ages and just heard they're expecting their fifth. I do need to get off this computer though.

Oh, my BIL was a sadistic little jerk to my husband (4.5 years his junior), but strangely enough the two boys are reasonably close today.

Nathan is blowing raspberries into the baby monitor. He is very tired, but he fell asleep on the ride home from Library Storytime (he slept for maybe 2 minutes). He will be napping today, no doubt about that, but for right now, he's playing.

He was chewing on his hand so much at Library the drool was dripping off his elbow, but I think that's his molars, not the chipped tooth. The pediatric dentist is seeing us tomorrow morning, so I guess I'll attempt to vote around 2 or 3pm.

Yup, I would've voted early, but 6 hour lines do not appeal to me. I hope it's better on election day itself. But I am heartened to see so much interest in the election, especially amongst the young.

I hope Isaac and Isabel are good. They will have to go vote with me tomorrow. I think they will be. We live in a tiny town so the line shouldn't be very long and I'll go early afternoon or late morning, probably, so hopefully it won't be too busy.

May I ask, is there any concern or notice at all of the American election amongst the British/Australiens/Canadians? I'm not looking to turn this into a political discussion, I was just curious if your populations were talking about it at all.

I've looked at the BBC online, and they have some articles about it (some are rather funny), but what do you ladies see from a personal perspective?

Frankly, I'm tired of hearing about it! It's front page headline news all the time here in Canada. But that's likely because the outcome also affects us (somehow or another)
But we just got done our election two weeks ago, and I'm so done with all of this.
I am a little interested in who will win, it seems so obvious, but maybe it's different being in it rather than looking on from another country.

Oh my word Ruth, all I have heard/read/seen for months now is American election news... even when we were having OUR election (which was called, campaigned, and finished in 1/4 of the time it takes you all!) it seemed like all we were hearing was American news! I am so ready for you guys to be done with this!!!!!!

Yup, today on the front page of the news section in my local paper:
US Election Primer:
AMERICANS GET READY TO VOTE

Then there's a big story about how your voting system works... (weird, I must say, I'm not even sure I understand it)

So, do you guys know who won our federal election just two weeks ago? (no googling!)

Does anyone have any experience with freezers... I'm not really exactly sure what I am asking for But I just went out to our garage freezer and, in two days, ice GREW in there and some food items have thawed out, tho still very cold. I checked the outlet and it's still working... I don't hear the hum of the freezer either.
Any ideas what I should do?

Jess, sometimes that happens to our freezer, but it's because somebody left the door open a crack.
Can you empty it and defrost it and then plug it in again and see what happens?

Wasn't it the conservative guy? I'm sorry for being ignorant, but I just don't remember.

And I agree we take a bit to long, but this election cycle was a lot longer then previous ones.

Oh my dear Ruth we hear NOTHING BUT the election. Its the brunt of jokes on the comedy shows, its always at the top of news stories and newspapers, for as long as it has gone on in the states it has gone on here! Current Affairs shows are talking about. EVERYONE is. So sick of it. LOL vote already people!!
This one was longer than previous ones? Why is that? How long do they usually go for?

Sarah- thanks. I am having trouble even liking him at the moment let alone love him. So God hadn't take too long, or hubby better not take too long becuase it may be too late for me too.

Rami- hugs to you. We have all done silly things. Just the other day Nath was screaming in his bed, I just thought he was being stubborn not wanting to sleep. After a min I went in and his leg was caught in the cot boy did I feel bad.
