Shoes really don't matter to me.
I buy them when I need them.
Like, I wear Vans and Etnies. And I've had Vans for probably 2 years now and they are getting torn up. It when they get very old is when I go and buy new shoes.
However, I do love flip flops. So I guess I like those? Ha.

Shoes make me happy. Handbags make me happy. It's a girl thing.
They even make those little decorator pillows that say "Shoes Make Me Happy".

I wasn't always a shoe person, but lately I've fallen in love with them. A nice pair of shoes that match the outfit I'm wearing makes me feel polished.
High heals make me feel confident and sexy.
My cowgirl boots make me feel on top of the world, like I can take on anything.
I know it's all in my mind, but it's still fun.

I love shoes! I have no idea why. I'm not typically that "girlie" in that I don't wear make up and it only takes me about 15 minutes to get ready. I don't carry a purse either. I just love shoes, I don't even really have to plan on wearing them when I buy them either. Wish I could help... when you find out the answer let me know OK?

I have been told that my shoes match my mood... guess I only have about 11 moods! I never noticed that they did untill they told me... it's not like I wear flip flops in winter or boots in summer !??... i did just buy a fab pair of shoes.. clogs! Sketchers with fuzzy along the top, they look like boots untill you look closely. I like shoes because I am required to wear certain type shoes at work. When off work I can wear what i want.

Auben, what you said is true. There are definitely exceptions to every rule. For example, I love shoes, but have never really cared much for jewelrey. I don't wear bracelets, rings, anklets, or even a necklace. I only wear earrings because I've been wearing them since I was a baby (a cultural thing - all babies got their ears pierced and wore gold earrings (because gold was cheap, plentiful and durable). I think I was probably about 4 or 5 before I realized that my earrings could actually be removed from my ears.) While I appreciate gemstones, but it is rare for me to see something that I like or would wear.
LOL, I'm not that into shoes, but I LOVE jewelry..  it makes me feel so feminine..the exception is I don't care for diamonds because of what it does to kids in Africa when we mine them there...
Mike, some men find certain shoes very attractive on women..maybe that's another reason women like shoes.

I can't remember if anyone's shared a story, but here's mine:
I walked into dept. store last week and found a clearance pair of leather-upper Bjorn wedges, turquoise. Fabulous fit, fabulous look -- $5!!. Can you believe my luck, girls?!?!

I agree! I love shoes and handbags. I don't really know why, I just do.
My husband always asks me why I need every style of shoe in the store (which I do not). So I just ask him why he needs every size of wrench and screwdriver.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE shoes. I have no idea why. And I guess I have more than anyone else here, at least more than anyone else has admitted to. Here's what I have:
20+ pr of flip flops/sandals-different colors and styles
5 pr of boots-3 black/different styles, 1 brown, 1 silver
5 pr of wedges-different colors and styles
1 pr of mary janes-black
1 pr of ballet flats-yellow (want more)
1 pr of funky flats-brown
2 pr of athletic shoes-yes, different color schemes....LOL
3 pr of sneakers....yes, different from athletic shoes.....
2 pr of Crocs.......yeah, most people think they are ugly, but I love them.........
and other miscellaneous shoes that I can't recall at the moment.......LMHO

I honestly thought that the loving shoes thing was a stereotype, but now I'm not so sure, seeing some of the responses here...
I don't love shoes, they are just something that one needs to wear while out in order to not look like a hooligan. I have more shoes that serve actual purposes, rather than a billion shoes for every occasion. I have shoes for running, soccer cleats, and one well-loved pair of old school black Converse sneakers. Add a couple of sensible(aka flat) shoes in black and brown for church, and I'm good to go!
....Well, that was the story until just recently. My weirdly shaped feet might very well have been the reason for me not liking shoes. A big political convention prompted me to go out and buy some "grown-up" shoes to go with my "serious" look. To get a pair of heels that fit, I had to pay more money for one item of clothing than I ever have in my life! But when I wore them, I felt differently. I stood taller, walked more confidently (once I figured out how to walk in them!), and I didn't feel so invisible.
So perhaps that's your answer. A good pair of shoes can make us feel good, and I think that's one of the reasons why we like them.
