Chelsea- I am so glad to hear your doctor's appt went well. That is wonderful. My visit was great. We saw the baby, my doc verifies through ultrasound, and heard the heartbeat. I am 7 weeks and 6 days pregnant. My due date is May 2,2009. I am so glad to have a winter pregnancy. With Hannah I was hot and huge, she was born in October. Last October here was in the 90's. I felt cheated. God is so good. It was great to see the baby was okay. Karen

Kristin- thank you, yes, they are growing up I am so in denial that Anna will be 2 in three weeks that I haven't even picked something for her birthday cake yet! (and I make them, so I need to plan!) Kathryn- you will get there, the baby will come! With Anna, I went in to labor every day for a week, building all day and ending promptly at 9:30 pm each night I did end up being induced with her, but it was not b/c I couldn't go into labor, it was due to her being in danger b/c of a hole in the placenta- nope, I don't think there is anything in the Bible about praying for labor being a sin...so you are safe Karen- glad you know for sure what is going on now!

I actually didn't get to hear Mary's heartbeat until I was 28 weeks pregnant because I stayed with my GP until then and he didn't have a doppler so I don't know what Mary's was at 12 weeks. I am a little worried about my weight this time. I was about 108 when I got pregnant (I'm 5'6) and I am 114 now, I have already gained 6 pounds! It seems like when I am pregnant my body packs on weight whether I want it to or not!! I gained 65 pounds with Mary and while I lost it all and more before I got pregnant with this one I still don't want to gain that much this time. I can't fathom ladies who only gain 20-30 pounds... it mystifies me. Kathryn, it is definitely not wrong to pray for labour. When I was overdue with Mary I spent a lot of time praying everyday that she would just come out!!

Chelsea, I don't think the majority of us start out underweight, so you gaining 65lbs is basically the same thing that I gained, only I started out heavier then you. We ended up at about the same place in the end.

Kathryn- Hang in there, girl! You're having contractions...that's great! The other night I took a bath because my back was killing me. I was reminded of the childbirth videos we got that talked about not thinking about the pain but just visualize your cervix opening when you feel pain. But they cautioned not to practice that until you were full term, as some women actually went into pre-term labor because their visualization worked so well. I thought to myself... I WISH! And attempted to visualize while taking a bath...and ended up falling asleep. Chelsea- How awesome that you got to hear the heartbeat! I am totally curious what your baby will be. At 8 weeks my baby's hb was 180's, now it's pretty much 130-140s, and has been all over the place in between. So the old wives' tales are of no help to me! My weight gain is still around 44 lbs- at least it's slowing down! I weigh as much as my husband- he had kind of a hard time with that. I told him if I make it another week and a half until my due date (like he prefers) I could still gain another 20lbs! Karen- I'm very excited for you! Glad everything looks good. I am 38 1/2 weeks today. NST is still the same. She checked me and I'm 3 cm and 80% effaced and she said the baby's head is really really far down. So could be any time... or maybe not! I'm pretty crampy now since my appointment, but that should taper off. Although I'd be fine if it just got contractions going! Anyway, even if it is still awhile, at least it's encouraging news. I told my husband that if I do get an epidural, I wanted to make it to at least 4-5cm before getting one. At this rate, by the time I actually go into labor, I could probably get it any time! I'm so in the middle on that subject as well, we'll see what happens.

ORIGINAL: Sideways Boys are so much easier to name; I thought I had something good with the Victoria/Tori idea, now dH is going back on that. He wants to name her Naomi ... which ain't happening. Cute because of the tie in to Ruth, but no... It was the other way round for us! There was only one boy name that we both liked (Jonathan), but had 3 girl names that we agreed on: Susanna, Victoria and Sarah (we chose the latter but only once she was born - we wanted to see which name she looked like!).

Well I have a plus today, I had lots of contractions that I had to stop with yesterday, not any regularity to them at all, but they are contractions and for a few days I was getting nothing at all. So something is happening and that gives me encouragement. Hubby is off today at a conference, about an hour and a half away. He posted numbers at the phone in case I go into labor. I'm planning on lots of walks today with Nadia, she likes them anyway. But tomorrow is a big day at church, so I wouldn't be surprised if I don't go into labor until after that. That's what I did with Nadia. Andrew graduated and I didn't go into labor until everyone had gone home! We'll see. BTW, I've always wanted to use the name Eden. I think it's pretty.

Such considerate babies you have, Kathryn, waiting until after the big event has completed to start labor! I told dH we could use one of "his" names, 'Natalie' if the baby is born on Christmas Day, because that's exactly what Natalie means, but otherwise I'm not fond of the name. I tried floating Amanda or Amy by him, because they mean "worthy of love" and "beloved" respectively, but he was lukewarm at best.

quote:
ORIGINAL: Sideways We've considered giving her the formal name of Victoria, but calling her Tori. Has anyone else ever done anything like that? What do you think? I like Victoria/Tori, but it's too popular around here to go with our extremely common last name Last year, I had 3 students named Victoria and two of them went by Tori/Tory. Also, it's the name my grandmother gave her dog, so I guess that seals it for us quote:
ORIGINAL: Sideways I tried floating Amanda or Amy by him, because they mean "worthy of love" and "beloved" respectively, but he was lukewarm at best. My name is Amy It's incredibly common for people born in the 70s/80s, but not so much after that. I've only ever had 2 students named Amy. Popularity might not be important to other people, but with our last name, it's a big deal to me. We will never, ever, ever decide on a name After Gabe vetoed all ~25 names on my list, I made another list with about 10 more names. He vetoed all of them, too He likes stereotypical British names like Clive, Rupert and Niles There is no way I'm naming my American son Rupert Ain't gonna happen. And after 10 years of Gabe making fun of me for liking the name Jaden, he has now decided it is one of his favorite names ever and he would love to name our little boy Jaden... except there is a rather well known celebrity with our last name who also named his boy Jaden (or a varient spelling... I'm not sure). And it's too popular to go with a popular last name, anyhow.

Oh Pure, I'm sorry to hear about your aunt. These things seem to happen at the same time, don't they? Praying for the situation. I hope one of us goes soon! Are you at the point that you over analyze every little twitch and cramp? I know I am. Some are harder than others to ignore though.

ORIGINAL: Room2Grow Names- anyone have a good meaning/biblical middle name for Grace that is not Elizabeth (that's Anna's middle) and does not end with a K sound? Hubby and I struggling. I really want to use Grace Josephine after my great grandma, but he hates Josephine For boys we haven't settled on a first name yet, so we're still working on that... Grace Noelle Noelle means Christmas and the word for Grace in the original text is actually "gift". Very cool together without being " obvious", KWIM? Deb
