Names- anyone have a good meaning/biblical middle name for Grace that is not Elizabeth (that's Anna's middle) and does not end with a K sound? Hubby and I struggling. I really want to use Grace Josephine after my great grandma, but he hates Josephine For boys we haven't settled on a first name yet, so we're still working on that...

Grace Noelle

Noelle means Christmas and the word for Grace in the original text is actually "gift".

Very cool together without being " obvious", KWIM?

Deb

And if you say it quickly, it sounds like "snow" in the middle, which is even more Christmassy!! (though actually it sounds like "grey snow" which maybe isn't quite so nice!"

Thanks, Kathryn. Things sound better with my aunt today. There is likely some bleeding but they're not really concerned. The main issue is blood pressure meds that she wasn't taking which led to really high blood pressures which led to the headaches. Hopefully only a couple of days in the hospital for med adjustment and she should be home.

Still getting rid of my plug, it's been pinkish today. Hmmm...I'm trying to be patient!

I'm not even to my due date yet.

I'm going to develop a complex.

If I had a dollar for everytime I heard "You're still here???" I'd be a millionaire by now.

I'm seriously considering not going to church next week if I haven't had the baby by then.

Am I that huge?

Have I been pregnant too long?

What is the deal with going to or over your due date? It's like a curse or something. As if I have control over it. I'm beginning to feel panicky, like I have to satisfy everyone elses desires for me to have this baby. ARG!

Just to satisfy my longings...

New belly pic on my blog. Hopefully the last.

We thought for sure last night he was coming. I had contractions about 4-5 minutes apart for an hour and a half. They were about a minute long each. Hurt in my lower back and wow, were they intense! Called midwife and doula and per instructions took a bath to see if they got more strong or petered out. I had a few while in the bath and a few more while waiting to go to sleep, then nothing that I can recall while I was sleeping. So far nothing this morning, except my lower back is continuing to ache more and more, it didn't when I first woke up. But no contractions yet.

I am going to still go about my day, I am so tired, didn't get much sleep, poor hubby didn't either. I really thought he was coming today.

Ouch.

Looks like it's a race between you and Kati! When I started getting bloody show, I had Gwen ~ 18 hours later ... but with your contrax, Kathryn, you could go really quick! How long was your active labour with Nadia?

Well, I saw my friend today for the first time since she lost her baby (at 26 weeks). We didn't have much of a chance to talk, but she was trying to keep a brave face, and we'll see each other again on Wednesday. She had to leave the room at least once because of tears, but I feel it's best not to push her, and just be there as she needs.

She'd said that she didn't want to upset me with my pregnancy, but I'm more worried about her.

My midwife was pretty sure I'd be having the baby by the way I was having contractions. My doula believes it was prodromal/false labor. I don't know who to believe. I can't believe with contractions like that that they weren't doing anything. My back is continuing to hurt, it's low low on my back, basically my butt. I've had a few contractions like last night, but not consistent. My midwife called me back to tell me to try nipple stimulation for about an hour 3 x a day. She put almond oil in the birth kit, I'm to use some for that. She basically thinks I'm there, ready, teetering on the edge, I just need a push. So I'll try that. I just gotta find time to do that without a toddler running around "mama, why are you pinching your nurses??" How do I explain that to a child? She already tells people too much! Can you imagine the faces?

Went for another checkup.... Did get a positional US because someone had her hand over her head...

Apparently she has a full head of hair and chubby cheeks..

The only concern was too much amniotic fluid... but the Dr. didn't seem to be too worried, he said that all the bad things that would cause that I had been checked for and didnt' have....

We're getting there!

Restored, how cute!!

Yes, Nadia does nap. And so does mama! I did get a good nap in. I'll tell ya, when you are tired it is so hard to keep a good attitude. Seriously though, I think I just should have a good cry about it and I will be much better. No really! Crying is so healthy and I don't do it near enough. I wish I could have all of you ladies over for coffee or tea or whatever it is you'd like. I just feel that we'd all gain so much from each others company.

Kathryn,
I completely agree about sleep and attitude. It is really hard for me to keep a positive, kind attitude when tired. Sometimes a 15 minute break where I close my eyes helps immensely. Food, too, does wonders for an attitude.

More 'labor' last night, this time they hurt. Like really hurt. I was able to get some substantial sleep, but was waking up a lot, not sure of the reason. But when I was awake I was having contractions. I was able to walk this morning so we'll see. Hey, at least it's progress. Sunday night I had contractions until I went to bed, then nothing. And they barely hurt. Last night I had lots and they hurt. I've had a few this morning. Things are moving along. I need to get baby over to 'his' side, that's when the contractions are good and strong. I slept on my right side last night and he moved. But I'll just sit on my birth ball for a while and that should move him around.

Kathryn my best friend had a lot of pre labour like you, she was having contractions for days and days but nothing. Well when the time finally came and her water broke baby was born in an hour! And it was her first baby!! Keep telling yourself that the contractions are doing something, each one is bringing you closer to holding that little man!

I am going to have to put a belly picture up soon... I am totally popping out. I will be 13 weeks tomorrow, I can't believe it! I love being pregnant so much, I can't wait to start feeling the baby move!

I am off to do another newborn shoot this morning, although I think he is just about a month old... I hate it when parents wait this long, I always tell them to phone from the hospital because it is really best to do newborn portraits in the first 10-14 days at the most. After that they are so different and don't sleep nearly as solidly, they are much harder to photograph.

My midwife came up today and checked on me. The baby's heartbeat is good, my hb is good, urine good, heck I even lost some weight and, the most encouraging news, my cervix has changed. Before it was posterior and the outside os was a 4, the inside os was a 2. Today my cervix moved forward (I could tell this right away) and I was easily a 4, although she could have stretched me further, but she didn't want to cause me pain. Baby is still head down and at a 0 station. Things are changing in a good way. Keep the prayers up!

ETA: I was thinking maybe I'd have her strip my membranes, but I am so far dialated my body did it itself. So that didn't need to be done. Which is nice, I've heard it hurts.

That's great Kathryn that things are moving along! I had my membranes stripped with both. With Grace it didn't hurt (male doctor) with Nath it hurt (female) I was told it depends on who is doing it whether it hurts or not. With Nath she did it a week before and I cramped for a bit but nothing. She did one more stretch and sweep in the morning of the 24th and he was born later that evening.
Hold on!!!

Still thinking of you, Kathryn! (By the way I think your name is so beautiful, it just wouldn't work with my hubby's last name. )

We're still arguing names, but hubby proposed the compromise of me getting the first name and him getting the middle name. The only issue with that is that the names sound awful together, but then, how often is a person called by all three names unless they're in trouble? A middle name usually just gets shortened to an initial.

Well, my 24 week prenatal went fine. The doc openly admitted he's more old school and in favor of repeat c-sections, but he did say the the call is ultimately mine, and he said it very sincerely. My particular circumstances do not favor a VBAC, but we'll have to see about the final call.
