Does anyone here take medication for osteoporosis or osteopenia? I take Fosomax for osteopenia, even though I'm not postmenopausal. I also take vitamin D due to low levels and calcium.

(Note to mods: I wasn't sure whether to put this in the personal issues or regular women's only folder, so if I put it in the wrong folder, I apologize.)

I have osteopenia and take vitamin D only. I had a total hysterectomy last year at age 35, I know I will have to take medication soon, but don't at this point. How did you decide on Fosomax? Do you happen to know why you have osteopenia?

My medical doctor diagnosed me with it after a bone scan. Originally, I just took Calcium + D. Since there is a strong family history of osteoporosis, he decided that I should be on Fosomax. He also increased my Vitamin D to 2000 mg a day instead of 400.
