Oddly, I know nothing about my brothers' teeth, but I have one sister who never had a cavity until her mid-20s, one who had a cavity in every single baby tooth (the dds said she has 'soft teeth') and me, I have had quite a lot of cavities, and I grew up in the same house as the sister who had none. So you do what you can do, but it isn't all up to you!
Cynthia, I didn't even notice the typo, lol.
I had the hardest time getting to sleep last night, and then I woke up early.
We MAY be having guests for the weekend, but I am not sure yet. My poor friend is so busy she doesn't know which way is up.  She is trying very hard, and she is not doing anything that is not necessary, and I am proud of her, but it's making her crazy and her friends miss her. Anyway, she has a conference here this weekend and hopefully she will bring her two middle children and drop them off with me while she goes. Her Nathan and Josie are two of my Nathan's favorite people.
Unfortunately, it is supposed to be cold and wet all weekend! So I am thinking I will let them make a fort in he living room or something.

Cavities. I shared this before, but the last time Joe and I went to the dentist, I was sure he'd have a mouthful. He's terrible about brushing and flossing, and I'm not that good about checking up on him. The verdict: The brusher and flosser, me, had two cavities. Joe had none. Of course he had to proudly announce to the dentist and all the staff that he never brushes his teeth.  We do what we can, but some people, and I'm one of them, just have soft teeth. Oh, and yes, I do still try to get Joe to brush. Now we talk about the need to prevent gum disease. He does chew a lot of sugarfree gum. I suppose that's helping him some. Noah may be too young for that now, but it could help later.

Okay, this thing with dh doing math with ds1 and ds2 just isn't working...... His last "contribution" was xeroxing some pages out of the book. Ds1 set up the word problems, but dh never checked 'em. Ds2 is still stuck. Suggestions on where to find a tutor? Or do I just put the kids in school since obviously I'm not getting the job done???

Is math the only issue, Hazel? If it is, and you can afford it, I'd look for a tutor. A retired teacher, a teacher now home with her small kids, etc. I have a friend with 4 kids 7 and under who does that...there's got to be someone where you are who's willing.

Agrees with Donna His- if math is the ONLY educational issue then I'd search out a tutor. I got the reading tutor way back when by calling the local Christian Schools. They allowed the teacher to use her free period to tutor and that included homeschool students. NICE. As for getting the job done... you ARE getting it done. You have tried alternatives to make math happen and realize that it is not working and are STILL looking for the *fix* the PS would feed it to him "this way" and if he did not get it then so much for his luck. You are a god mother and you are doing far and away more for your children than anyone else ever would.

Yah, it's just math.
Also, I just realized what "caused" ds2 blow up this morning. He ahs allergies. They are always worst in the fall, due to mold. It's really bad right now due to... dh got me flowers for our anniversary. The mold is TERRIBLE!!! It's driving me nuts, and my allergies aren't as bad. I hate to throw away the flowers but...
I think we just had an earth quake! We were sitting doing school and felt/heard a rumble. Kinda like thunder. Except it's sunny. Reminded me very much of when I was a kid and the quarry would blast.

Teaching Textbooks would be cheaper than a tutor.
Does anyone have a CBD code? I got more child support than I was expecting and want to order Nate's bday present.
We have had breakfast and watched an episode of Monk on hulu, but I am still not dressed. It's still dark out so it doesn't FEEL like I have been lazy, lol, but indeed I have!

There wasn't anything in the first four episodes, other than having a look-alike of the dead chick from the cliffhanger. So I am guessing it'll be on the next disc...we hope, lol.
Nate is taking the end-of-book test for his second-to-last Key to book, as I type this.
Today is basketball AND Jukido, with one ending half an hour before the next begins. Not much breathing room in there. Or eating room, which is what the kid is primarily concerned with.

I have lost Ashley, Bobby, and Erin for the weekend. One of my friends spirited them off to her place because she needs some major cleaning and reorganizing done. She will pay them and will bring them back either Sat or Sun depending on when they finish.

Do they get paid for that?? Sometimes I could use a hand. I got so much to do. I get overwhelmed and depressed (when it has to do little kid stuff). I need to tackle some stuff pretty soon, but I don't want to be depressed.

How on earth could the percentages have gone DOWN so drastically? Did the test change? I mean, think about it, the sixth graders in 2008 passed overwhelmingly in 2007. Doesn't make sense.

The said it was due to a new test.
Okay- it is a multiple choice test. read the paragraph and fill in the dot on a question.
#1-READ
#2- answer question.
Not like they said read this once and we are going to take it and make you answer the questions without the text on the same page or the facing page. Kinda like an open book test you know.

It still doesn't make sense, though. Because the SAME KIDS passed last year but not this year. I think the test needs to be un-re-done or someone needs to take a serious look at why the numbers came out the way they did.

I agree 100%, someone needs to figure out why kids that could read last year cant read this year... OR if they ever could actually read at all. I find it unsettling and scary
