I'm sorry Cynthia, I can't imagine what you are going through. My kids have never really experienced the death of someone close. Even when our pets died, they weren't really "close" to them. The pets were already old when they got to be the ages where they would start to get close to them. A death of a friend, or family member will be hard on my kids, I know... so I'm sure your son has a lot of new emotions.
I thought I had a mouse in the house. Last night I saw it crawl into his "home" (by the stove), so I got up and put a trap there. As soon as I walked away, he was trapped. But, it wasn't a mouse. It was a mole, I think they call it a shrew mole, or a house mole. Yuck. The poor thing made pain noises... I felt sorry for it.

My son changed the password on the kids computer. Apparently all the users had administrative accounts. Not anymore! He says he feels guilty for having done that. I told him that's a step in the right direction.

Wow ~ I've been gone all day, I thought I'd have at least a page full of posts to catch up on! I guess you all have been quiet!
I'm a little upset. I put my son in wrestling and there are no boys in his weight class. Just a girl. He is NOT wrestling a girl! I don't know if I should take a chance and let him go to practice in hopes that the girl will quit. Or, if I should just pull him out. I haven't had a chance to talk to Dh yet. But, I just can not bring myself to let him wrestle a girl. We try and teach him NOT to treat girls in that way.... and at this age 12/13 years old, I just can't imagine him wrestling a girl!!! My son might not be through puberty... but I would imagine that the girl has started going through it, if not already through it. There is just no way.

Homegrown, I hope it's ok for me to post here.
My husband wrestled in high school as a fully-hormonal 16 year old boy who very much liked girls. He had to wrestle girls and he did not like it at all. He just told me that there was nothing sexual about it, despite the physical position they were in, and he considered it a "no win situation", either a girl beat him or he beat a girl. He always won, but he got the match over with as soon as possible.
He said he did not see it as a disrespectful way to treat the girl, because she choose the sport, nor would he forbid his son from wrestling a girl, that would just punish his son for something beyond his control. (But he'd certainly discourage a daughter from wrestling.)
I just thought you might like to hear from the male perspective that went through it.
ETA: dH also practiced a weight class above his own, but competed in his own weight class. This helped because other wrestlers starved and dehydrated themselves to drop weight, but he was fully fed and hydrated.
So, you could request that your son practice in a higher weight class. It'll make competitions a whole lot easier. My hubby was undefeated his second year of wrestling.

That is a very interesting postion (no pun intended), Sideways. I have a son and would not want him to be punished due to a girl being allowed to wrestle on his team. I am believe in equality between the sexes, but imo, that is not about equality. There are distinct differences between us and that ought to be respected. Too bad when we are put into such ridiculous situations due to the crooked and perverse generation we live in.

And now a story to share you might want to share with your children:
A man is walking home alone late one foggy Halloween night, when behind him he hears:
BUMP...
BUMP...
BUMP...
Walking faster, he looks back and through the fog he makes out the image of an upright casket banging its way down the middle of the street toward him.
BUMP...

Terrified, the man begins to run toward his home, the casket bouncing quickly behind him.

Sorry, I liked it!!
I have a job interview tomorrow. Not sure if I want to work, but I feel like I should kinda "test the waters" and see if God wants me to take this step. I have worked a similar position, but it was full-time, and and before we started homeschooling. I was working lots of night and about every weekend. I will NOT do that again. But it I can work 3 days a week, rotating weekends, and maybe a 3-10 or 11 shift, that would be good. Please pray that I clearly see God's direction in this. I do not want to take things into my own hands with our finances, and renting our house out has helped, but it seems like the bills never end, and with Christmas coming... So, we will see...
It is at 2:30 tomorrow (Friday) afternoon. Thanks!!!

I was given actual jogging shoes a bit back. After 300 miles, they aren't good for running anymore. They are the most comfortable shoes that I have ever owned and I am looking forward to wearing them anywhere I want. Unfortunately, I hurt my knee shortly after I started jogging (which was a miracle that I was doing in the first place). Now I am afraid to run again. I was looking at treadmills today to try to get in shape until I am brave enough to run on the road again. I will have to find one used though. I am definitely not buying a new one.

Ellie-Mae--check thrift stores for a used dreadmill! Or Craig's list. People are always buying them with the intention of running, then well, you know what happens with good intentions...
Dh got a redlight ticket in the mail yesterday. Somehow it's my fault. He had dropped me off at the marathon start and was on his way back home. He has become so bitter. Yah, I know the whole "for better or worse" thing. But living with someone who hates you, well, I must not be a good enough person because I just don't think that I can do that forever.

No, I don't think they'd join for self defense. Wrestling as you know is an extremely challenging sport, both mentally and physically. It's nice that your other son lost on purpose, my husband was not so noble. He never hurt the girl or said anything crude to her, but he would make a point to win in the dominating fashion possible, a very embarrassing loss for the girl, but still completely legal on his part. He said he had to dominate the match or risk loosing reputation with the guys.
Can your son work with his coach to put on weight in a healthy fashion? Is he old enough to attempt some serious muscle building exercises? dH said that the small, scrawny freshman were always the ones his team liked the best, because they had the most potential.

It is not evil or perverse that they want to compete. It is evil and perverse that they want to do so with boys or men. It is inappropriate.

Her playing the sport isn't about her gender. It's not about her being allowed to play. It is about the fact that there is not enough interest amongst the girls for her to have a team to play on. To expect the boys to make up for that is wrong and imo disgusting.

We have a play tonight for the elementary homeschool kids. I think it will be fun to watch. In November, the middle/high school homeschoolers will perform.
Okay... after listening to sideways, I was convinced that ds would be okay to wrestle. Now, after listening to Cynthia, and Joe's aggreement with her, I'm questioning the idea again  . There is a chance that this girl will quit... and maybe she won't. Ds said she is "scary" looking... the earings on the lip, dresses in black... but, he said that the rule is no hair past the ear, so she would have to cut her hair as short as boys hair.
We are having 70+ degree weather here!!! I love it!!!! I want to get out and rake leaves and stuff... but I need to catch up on some housework, too. I'm hoping to get caught up so that my weekend will be more free. I was gone way too much this week to stay on top of laundry, etc. I just got my kitchen floor washed, microwave, stove top, fridge..etc... now, it is the bathroom's turn. Once those two things are done, there isn't much else to do. Our house is little... one good thing about that, is getting it cleaned up in just a couple of hours! It is one of those days that school should be put on hold, or we take it outdoors today!!

On the bright side, my cabinets are getting organized.
