There are people who simply do NOT want to change, and this predator is one of them, unlike the other decent elderly respectful lady.

Thanks (((deer))) for this info about JW which enabled me to know many new things about them I did not know b4.
No wonder that woman hates me. She certainly considers me a threat to her cult. Hence, she wants to hinder me from evangelizing to others in my neighbourhood.
I have a feeling the other elderly decent lady who is her aunt wants to become Christian and that girl is afraid of losing her aunt; so the best thing to do is to get in my way and harass me.

Like every religion Jehovah Witness's believe that what they believe in is right. They feel a need to spread their word to as many people as possible. Hence the calling at houses and stopping you constantly on the street. Jehovah Witness's (like every other religion) have people who believe....stronger than everyone else. They won't take no for an answer, and as in this case will keep going on and on. Talking to this woman's elder sounds like a good idea, try sorting out a face to face with the elder and properly talking about it. Jehovah Witness's have a lot of respect for their elders! One good thing is just say "No thank you" and walk away.
It's a bit extreme calling Jehovah Witness's a cult, have you ever been to one of their meetings? It's not cult-like.
Jehovah Witness's don't count other religious people a threat to their "cult", your suggestion of her aunt becoming a Christian is probably a better reason for why this woman is confronting you. But don't take it to heart! Keep saying no and talk to her elder (again if needs be), she will get the hint eventually to stop going on. Be as polite as you can and help her out when you can, you never know, still loving her may convert her and you won't have needed to say a word about Jesus!
Silent love is a strong thing and touches people without them realising sometimes!!

Praise the Lord!!! I am so proud of you Ruthie for witnessing about your loss and how God has saved you from that cult. I know they suck the naive and vulnerable people and bc they are very structured and logical people, many poor folks believe and buy into what they say. I heard that they even help their folks financially.
What can I say, I am SO impressed, Praise God!!!  and thanks so much for the tips!

You've already received all kinds of advice, so I am not going to give you any more. But for the benefit of everyone who might read this, here is what I do when JW's come to my door.
First, I make them identify themselves, even though I may already know, as to who they represent. Then I say "Do you know that it really is possible to know for sure that you are going to heaven when you die?" That takes them by surprise, and puts me in contol of the conversation. This may scare them off. But on the other hand, it may give you a chance to share a little of the gospel with them.
You see, I think it is important that someone tell them the truth. Whether they listen or not is their responsiblity, but it may at least get them to thinking that maybe there is another way. And if they are standing in front of me, I assume that I am the one appointed to do it that time. You may be the only person who has the courage, or the knowledge, to give them that opportunity.
I take seriously the admonition in Third John to not let them in the house. But if they are willing to talk outside, that is where we do it. And don't be afraid of them. You know your Bible better than they do.

Try this. A youth paster I know had a JW come to his home to give literature and talk to him. This youth paster did not say anything about being a pastor but asked for some literature talking about the JW religion and belief's and asked him to come back in a couple of days and they would talk somemore. So the guy left the lit and left. Over the next couple of days, he read the JW beliefs and found scripture to refute their beliefs. The guy came back and never returned.

I refuse to participate in any debate. I actually refuse to go into discussion with folks from other cults. I am not scholarly enough about religious Christian matters.
I believe the best witness for Jesus is to be like Him to show the World Jesus the Christ thru us.
Our actions and outlook would speak louder than all that other stuff and waste of time and that's what that elderly lady is seeing in me and thus is drawn toward me which of course I can see clearly by showing her God's love and keeping her in my prayers.

Dear Cloak,
you have the right idea. I also will not participate in discussions either unless I study like the youth pastor did, write things down and then I will feel confident enough to talk about these issues with others. I would encourage you to do the same thing. I think there is a scripture that says to study the Word of God and to renew our minds. You could also say to prepare yourself so you can be a witness for Jesus. But do what you are doing so far to be that witness and pray for the woman. Sounds like God has opened doors in ways that you never imagined for Him to work through you and touch this woman. Keep on praying.

Wow..... ROUND OF APPLAUSE TO EVERYONE!!!
Jehovah Witnesses do what they believe, there are fanatics yeah, but there in every single situation, religion, everything!!! I work with people who have OCD and run around after you straightening stuff you've moved. I watch TV and see a teenager has stabbed another.
The way you lot are talking about Jehovah Witnesses means that I should worry about going to work as obviously they ALL have OCD!! Or I should worry about teenagers as they are ALL going to stab me!!
Jehovah Witnesses (like EVERY other single religion) think that what they believe is true. So they decide to spread their "true word". That's dedication.
It's a shame that Christians on here don't show the same dedication for their own religion by showing LOVE for everyone, which by the way includes Jehovah Witnesses.
Don't go slating another religion just because you don't agree with it. It's not your job to judge, it's God's.
I will apologise for this reply now before anyone gets irate about it. I'm not going to be using this web site any more so don't worry about getting rid of me. But just so you guys know I am a Christian, before you judge me by this post.
Think about it, show some love for everyone. Isn't that a major thing in Christianity?? Love, no matter what the colour, looks, job, etc. It includes religion too.

We do show love for JWs - we share the truth with them to rescue them from a lie, just like God did for us. It's not love to leave a person stuck in quicksand.
God gave us His Word so we could know what is true. The Bible says Jesus is God, and Jesus Himself said the world would be judged because it would not believe in Him (John 16: 8,9).
When the JWs show up at my door, I leave them outside and brew up some lemonade, and we sit under a shady tree and talk. Usually about two hours. They tell me stuff and then I open my Bible (and I have a stack of reference books*) and I tell them what it says. God's Word never comes back void. And then I fill them in on the Church history ( that they aren't allowed to read) and how their heresy was refuted by Church scholars over a thousand years ago. And I pray God opens their hearts to His Word to understand His truth.
I'm kind, pleasant, make jokes if appropriate, give them any true point they make, and hold their feet to the fire of God's truth. Repeated as needed. We part on good terms and I pray like crazy. And I keep a watch on myself for a few days because this kind of intense spiritual battle often sets me back and I have to be quick to confess anything that pops up where it usually doesn't. It takes a lot out of me.

Leaving? That's unsportmen-like. How will you know what others say to you?
To pat heretical people on the head and hold them equal to God's redeemed people isn't love, it's error. God told us to take the Good News to every nation - including ours. The message is to unsaved people, including JWs.

God loved His lost people and sacrificed His life to rescue us. Shouldn't we be rescuing lost people as well? What are we rescuing them from? Heresy. Untruth. Lies. The devil is happy to share his lies with anyone who'll listen, and it's our priviledge to point the lies out so people can choose. And God gives grace to some of them to see it's not an equal choice.
*Strong's Concordance, Vine's Expository Dictionary of New Testament Words, Nestle/Marshall Greek Interlinear New Testament. You don't have to be a Bible Scholar to use these books, it just takes you longer to figure things out. But you can get a lot of it on your own with the references here.
