I prefer groups too but it really is preference. Typically, when I attend a concert, I am ready for a touch from God, some encouragement, or something and I have received that at both concerts of soloists and those of groups. I'm also aware that there may be people who will listen to a soloist who doesn't like the sound of southern gospel groups.

I prefer a group over a soloist. However, there are several soloists I do like. I just like listening to good southern gospel music no matter who (Quartet, Trio, Soloist, etc.) is singing it.
Amen! When God's name is lifted in praise, I like it.

I usually prefer Quartets or Trios, but I have one or two soloist that I buy their CD. CHELLEY ODLE from Bonne Terre, Mo. just released her first CD. It is pretty good. I fell in love with one song:
"GOD IS IN CONTROL" written by Annie MacRae.
you can listen to it at

that part of your post Sony is what it means to be at a Church service.

all of you that are fans of SG, take a listen to the opening intro of Mcgruder's "Come Fly With" live album and hear what Ronnie Hinson says to introduce the Service. I believe its along the lines of "welcome to the Jonesboro, Ark International Airport. why, because they did't try to sing absolutely perfect harmony or cry when a hair got pout of place. they were there to have a Church service.

as for whether its a group or a soloist, queartet, mixed, duo, trio, octo, alto or whsatever you calling the number in it. If they praising the Lord and people are being Blessed because God makes a visit, then it is worth it and should be getting support.

I have made statements on here concerning two groups in particular I until a few months ago did not care for. I will name them. GVB and the Perry's. God was waiting on me. cause first time I heard Jesus and John Wayne GVB won me as a fan. because that is me. I am NOT perfect and neither is anyone else on these forums. I am striving daily and I still sin at times because it is in your blood and nature. Perry's, it took one real listen to the labum they made og Happy Goodman songs. wow. I just played it over and over.

soloists, I love hearing them sing. if they annointed of God.same with any group.

how about forgetting what YOU feel SG should be and support the ones struggling to win the lost by singing the music. God will apprerciate it and i know the artists will too.
