I have heard of those but have no clue what they are. My daughters have (or had) "my space" pages. (never looked at them) Is that kinda the same thing?

FB is a grown up version of myspace, imo...with more functionality.

No not as much...but that's why I like FB more than the other communities...if you need to pop off about something, then you're gonna have to be responsible for it.

Of course if you, as a member want to be more invisible you can turn off the public viewing and edit your own page to have just basic info without the streaming stuff.

I dunno ...I guess I like it for what it is. I did find a friend from the 8th grade on there and that was cool.

I know many people would like to have more privacy, but since it's a social networking site..that's kinda how it works.

it doesn't bother me really, being so ***public**** except for when i want to tell one group of friends something and the other group of friends hears about it too.

i have different circles of friends, some of them are more , churchy, than other friends, and they get offended by some of the things i post.

but oh well, if they don't want to be my friends, they can un-friend me. that would be a-ok with me.

you can just use the inbox option instead of the wall

I have the same thing...but I'm too old to care

Something very freeing about being over 50

You can organize your friends into groups (I have family members, church friends, homeschool friends, CW friends, etc.) and then send a message to everyone on that particular friend list. It's very handy for things like that.

I have joined myspace and facebook in the past and never keep up with either one of them. I guess I am just not online enough to keep up. Anyone else have this problem? It would be neat to join a group from CW, though.

I have both a facebook and myspace, but since joining CW both have been sadly neglected!

I must be too old to get why someone would even want to do that...

There are lots of different applications on Facebook. Some are for picture sharing, or sharing links to interesting things, some are games, others are quizzes, and there's more being developed all the time.

Now say you installed an application and you wanted to invite certain friends to join, but not others. One example would be the family tree one. If you wanted to only invite family members to join that one, rather than have to search through five pages of friends and hope you didn't leave anyone out, you click on "use friend list" and pull down all your family members and invite them all at once.

I joined Facebook to connect with the daughters, but it's been nice to connect with friends.

Lack of anonymity can be a problem. I was looking at some group posts about infidelity and signs of an affair, for example, and my "wall" listed all of them. It looked kind of bad even though it was totally innocent, so I deleted them. Wouldn't want my daughters or extended family to see that and worry unnecessarily about the state of my marriage.

BTW, I like less anonymity, overall. I've seen too many people do things on anonymous online sites that they would never do on Facebook. But yes, it's nice to have a place like CW where I can anonymously share more personal kinds of stuff without any fallout. I still try not to do or say anything I wouldn't want my Mom to see, though.

It's really hard to find a friend on Facebook when they are being anonymous.

Also, Facebook does allow you to delete anything on your wall that you don't want seen.

That water is long past the bridge. 2 of them are already married. The third is living on her own.
