If you could afford any car you wanted, what would it be and what features would it have? Come on now, dream big!

I'd like the one Michael uses on Knight Rider. I want my car to drive me anywhere, let me out at the door, then park itself. When I'm ready to leave, then I just call its name.

I'd want one of each.

I mean, seriously. I'd love to just jump in any car I choose, at any given time, and drive it for awhile. Later that day, jump in a roadster. You know...

I want the Mustang that Robert Urich drove in Spenser for Hire.

Or a 69 Mercedes 450SL convertible, with everything.

A red (well, any color really) Saturn Skye. I've driven family cars my whole life and I'm in a season of my life that I can have something like that. We're car shopping actually and I have to be picky. I like Mustangs, but I sat in one the other day and now I know I can never have one. The seats are too "deep" and the end of the seat hits me just below the knee so I feel like Edith Ann (from Laugh In, remember?) and it would be really uncomfortable to drive any distance. So whatever I get, I have to try on for size first.

I like Pontiac Solstice as well.

Those are really the same car.

Saturn brand has really low resale value and its a possibility that the brand will be discontinued (sales are really low and no new models are being planned) , which will make the resale value next to nothing, so get the Pontiac. Unless you're going to keep it forever.

I'f money were no object, a bmw roadster.

A newer-used Subaru. Even if I had the money, I doubt I'd buy brand new and eat that off the lot depreciation. She'd be a zippy little 5 speed that like to hug corners, have lots of storage space, cup holders that never allowed cups to spill, and be painted one of those color changing paints...one that can be either sparkly purple, sparkly blue, or sparkly green, depending on the light hitting it.

Another Toyota Avalon. We love our Avalon. Love it so much that my parents bought an Avalon too after riding in ours and asking what we think of it. We're rather tall so to fit in the back seat comfortably in a car is amazing, the thing has NEVER had a serious mechanical problem even though it's over 10 years old, and the power and fuel efficiency is wonderful. The one thing I would change is I would love to be able to get one in all-wheel-drive (though they handle very well in the snow anyway).

A nice shinny, new, heavy duty diesel truck, 4X4, with heated leather seats, and entertainment system so the kids would be happy on long RV camping trips. The nice shinny, new fifth-wheel RV would also come with the truck.

With dual tires, right?

Are you my husband in disguise?

I want the one I have. A 00 Mustang GT with 10psi supercharger. I've got a total of $16.5 into it and if you wanted a new car that could keep pace, you'd have to spend at LEAST triple that. Hey, I'm thrifty.

Ooooh no. You are in NY, I don't like cold weather... hench I've stayed right here in GA all my life.
It's not that difficult really, just ask any man without manicured nails, waxed eyebrows, and a good stout gait what he'd rather drive. I'd bet ya' only 1 in 1000 would say a yuppie metro machine. It'll either be a muscle car or a big honkin' TRUCK!

I have one with 215,000 miles that I could be persuaded to part with to a good home if the price is right.

I own the car I wanted. I have a Chrysler Town and Country. I would like to own a Dodge Ram truck. I'd also like a classic Duster, fully restored. I used to have a 1973 Duster and I loved it. I also loved my Chrysler LeBaron and would love to have one of those, fully restored.

[:Yo post 16. Thanks for at least staying with North American car. However I seriously doubt a supercharged Mustang is the car for todays gas prices. And as for spending $50,000 for a car to have better performance--I don't think so. We know people who have spent less than $12 grand to do up a turbo Dodge 2.2, 2.4, 2.5 litre 4-cyl-than will spit your rustang out for breakfast. Check out some Chrysler Shelby Chargers & Daytonas on U-Tube in the 10-12 second(1/4 mile) runs--or maybe the ugly Caliber SRT'S "done-up". My son has an old '86 Shelby stock engine with mod. computer that does 13's--spins in 3 gears--poor off-line traction that beats most Rustangs& Cameros. Four cylinder turbo is THE car for today's times for economy & performance--whichever you choose with the gas pedal.]

This will be a controversial subject also. North Americans ( as you can see in most of the previous posts) HAVE NO CONCEPTION of what they are doing when buying OTHER than a Nth. American car. They are taking the wealth of Canada & USA to GIVE to overseas countries--many of whom we don't support their policies or religions. Meanwhile the Nth. American companies are being drained financially, some of your neighbours, friends, etc. are losing their jobs because of your selfishness in buying foreign cars. Even if they have Nth. American factories, most of the price of the car goes to the foreign country. We have good cars as theirs--long as you don't compare a $40,000 Honda to a $18,000 N.A. car. Try pricing out a starter ,alternator. etc. for a Nissan as compared to N.A. car--you'll get a BIG shock!! And do you see more OLD Hondas on the road than other cars? No. You see, most foreign car owners have an "image" to keep up--so if or before something goes wrong, they trade it in. I'm ready for the backlash--let 'er come. Have a good one.

Just what this thread needed, a lecture on economy. I'll bet he doesn't believe in the Great Pumpkin, either.

I don't know I see LOTs of old hondas here even in the Motor City.

There are some auto threads in the current events folder, this is a fun thread. Plus a lot of your facts are wrong.

Heck yes! How many Chevy's, Fords, or Chryslers are there with 200,000+ miles on them? Outside of some pickups, that is. I've driven GM all my life, but I'm willing to bet my next car will be a foreign company. You can't compare a Chevy Cobalt or Ford Fusion, or a Plymouth Neon with a Civic, Corolla, or even Hyundai Elantra. They don't meet the first two in quality and comfort, and they can't come close to the Hyundai on price.
