That sums up how I feel a lot of times.

I look back to where my mom was in her life when she was my age. I think about how she dressed and wore her hair and such. I don't feel at all like I'm anywhere near as "adult-ish" as she is/was.

Maybe my generation just has a different adult mindset, I dunno. But I certainly don't feel like I think I should.

Do I compare myself to other women?

all.the.time!

I mainly do it when they are more mature in the Lord, successful, skinnier or prettier. As long as they are doing better than I am in one of those areas, I compare myself to them.

Me too for all the same reasons.

More often than is probably good for emotional well-being. Usually I feel inadequate, but sometimes I feel smug or justified. I can't believe this part of junior high school mentality still haunts me.

sometimes i do but it is because they are older and more spiritually knowledgeable than i am and i wish to be.. but for looks.. sometimes for younger women, but then I ask gGd to remind me that our bodies change with children and are different in a physical way. I think Im more atractive now than i was b4 kids, then at times i dont think that,, I dunno... I really jave nothing to complain about, Ive always been smallish, I just think its a vanity issue, could be the styles that my curves dont fit anymore... cant do the Jr's dept cos the clothes are cut differnt, but the clothes are cuter... yeah I think thats it. i wish the clothes were more stylish on a budget i could afford.

Sometimes I compare my nonflat stomach to another woman's flat stomach. I'm a thin 120 pounds and in good shape, but after six kids I'll never have a flat stomach without plastic surgery. Sometimes it's hard not to compare because it's something I physically cannot achieve on my own, but at the same time sometimes I have an easy time "forgetting" about it because there's nothing I can do about it anyway. I guess it just depends on my mood that day.

I don't compare my face, clothes, or makeup too much, I don't think, although I probably compare my hair sometimes. It's very straight and difficult to style, which is something I wish I could change.

I could have written that exact sentence!

Yes I do but only when my husband is around me and I can't tell you how much it makes me go insane. I have low self esteem and it really makes me mad at myself because I just can't get past it and be satisfied. I feel like I am a terrible Christian for being so self-centered on how I look compared to other women when it concerns my husband.

I am 49 and I have people tell me that I look like I am in my thirties. (In my eyes, I don't see this) My children tell me that their friends tell them that I am pretty, but I still don't believe it but it SHOULDN'T MATTER.

My husband is a "girl watcher" and if there is a "looker" anywhere around us he doesn't glance, he stares and watches. I feel like I have to compete against these women and there is no way I can do that. He has gotten better in being more considerate when I am with him but he still continues to do it. We have been married 3 years and he is 56. It is hard for a man that has been like that to change his ways and I believe it is such a habit that he doesn't even realize that he is doing it sometimes.

It is a long story why I am insecure so I am not going to go into that and I pray about this all of the time because it seems I just can't make this miserable feeling go away. I am doing this to myself. It isn't fair to the pretty women either. God made them that way and he made me the way that I am and we are to all love one another. I have probably missed out on a lot of friendships because of this issue and that saddens me.

Or thinking someone else has their lives all together...the friend with the spotless house and impeccable decorating taste (I have neither of those).

This is what i do. I compare myself with others on both sides. I want there hair or there body or be as pretty as they are, but when it comes to a certain couple I'm always uncomfortable around them when going to there house. Its one of mine and my husband's friends and they always have a spotless house, not to mention its huge and beautiful. I always compare my house and wish i had the things they do and then i think to myself how lucky i am. I guess the one things that bothers me is that my house is always a wreck and i wonder when do her kids ever play? Because her house is never messed up! Ever! I don't know
