What about doing a professional photo shoot with your family and your husband (if you haven't had some recently done)?

Just staying home without kids would be nice, but we'd have to hide the van and leave all the lights off (not a problem ) or people would know we were home. A lot of people we know drive by our house all the time and like to drop in unannounced.

When I first read that, I thought you said "hide in the van" and I couldn't figure out why...
. . . to jump out (and wheel out) and scare people as they walk by.

You might even get a cheaper rate on the 6th

We have the same problem with anniversary weather. We got married February 3, which is when the weather down here gets the worst. Usually we get in snow when we are out of town celebrating (but it doesn't matter ) but this year we sat out part of our trip hiding in a hotel basement from the tornadoes in Nashville. Not what we were expecting.

I think Niagra Falls sounds neater than grits
Donna, I personally wouldn't go for Kate's tornadoe outing.

But that's just me.

As you can tell, I don't have any ideas right now.

I like nevaehs_gaze's photo shoot idea, though.

I like the photo idea also. I don't think Brian will do it until he's able to do it standing. Sometime next year though...

Yeah, no tornadoes for us. Blizzards, yes. Torandoes, no.

I was talking with a friend the other day about various things that Mother Nature does.

We both agreed that we don't like hurricanes (she's never been in one; but I grew up with them), we don't like tornadoes (neither of us have been in one), we don't like earthquakes (again, something that neither of us have experienced) . . . but that we both could handle a blizzard (she's been in more than a few; I haven't been in one . . . yet, although living where I do, I'm sure one day I will be in one).

Donna,

Have you checked with any of the local hotels to see if they have any specials going on?

For instance, with it being off-season here, many of the motels are coming up with some creative specials . . . one of them is offering "Dinner and a movie for $99" . . . that includes a room for one night, dinner for two and two movie tickets to any of the local theaters (and the tickets don't have to be used that particular night).

I'm sure that may not be the best thing for y'all at the time, but it's just an example.

Are there any local plays you could go see? You could get someone to watch the kids and then go to a movie and a play. We have a local play house where they change the play every month or so. It is a fun place with saw dust on the ground and you get to boo and hiss at the vilian. It is one of DH and I's favorite activities!

Maybe there's a class at a local community center or college you'd both be interested in taking together? Like baking, something artistic like ceramics, poetry writing, (I know dancing would have to wait), etc. It's something I look forward to doing with my husband when we return to the States.

We're not really into plays, and there's not much around here. The only kind of class he'd take would not interest me at all. Copper piping, electronic transmissions, or something. LOL

So...he doesn't want to go to Niagara Falls this year. He'd rather save that for a time when we can go alone and he will be able to get around easier. I do see his point.

I think we're settled on going out to eat somewhere and to a movie (probably Seven Pounds with Will Smith...looks good!). And then maybe go with our friends on their honeymoon...man, that still sounds weird. LOL

Not exactly what I wanted to do for our 10th, but even just having a 4 month old baby has put a kink in that. Oh well...we will leave her with my mom or sister while we go out, and she can have a bottle of formula while we're gone. I'm not going to try to bring her with us.
