I'm looking for songs with Halloween-Type themes to them to play at my desk this Friday during the office's Halloween party. Does anyone have any suggestions for songs I could compile onto a CD? Songs I currently have: "Monster Mash" "The Witch Doctor" "The Legend of Wolly Swamp" by Charlie Daniels

Lets' see: For a fun atmosphere (like game time) try: The Theme from the Munsters The Theme from the Addams Family The Zombie Stomp by Elvira Weird Science by Oinga Boinga Purple People Eater by Sheb Wooley For dance time try: Please Mr. Gravedigger by David Bowie Doin' the Zombie - Chubbie Checker Smoke On The Water - Deep Purple Ghosts - The Strawbs Spiders and Snakes - Jim Stafford Spooky - Atlanta Rhythm Section Creatures of the Night - Kiss Welcome To My Nightmare - Alice Cooper Strange Brew - Cream I've used all of these is Halloween show sets, people love them and know them well enough to sing along to a lot of them (Or oddly enough, to snap their fingers to "The Addams Family"). and by the way, if you're going to use "Monster Mash" get the Bobby "Boris" Pickett version, it's the classic that get's everyone singing along.

It might be easiest to visit your local music store and look for a Halloween comp CD. I've seen them many times. Look under various artists and holiday music.

Some great suggestions there. Arthur Brown especially. I got a Halloween themed playlist on My Space right now. A few suggestions: "The Phantom of the Opera" musical, the "title song". I'm partial to the one sang by Sarah Brightman & Michael Crawford. "Ghostriders in the Sky". I like The Outlaws version but the original probably has more gravitas. "Thriller" by Michael Jackson. sure he's crazy but he was the King of Pop in the '80s (who crowned him? ). Just a fun song. Many Alice Cooper songs qualify. Especially from the "Welcome to My Nightmare" CD. I'd pick "Steven" myself but the title track (previously mentioned up thread) might have more mass appeal. Of course if you're into metal you have many more choices: Iced Earth did a whole CD of horror songs called appropriately enough "Horror Show". The Helloween epic classic "Halloween" of course. Iron Maiden's "Number of the Beast". Many many more metal songs fit the bill. I just based this on great Halloween tunes, not all of my suggestions will be useful for the stated purpose. The record label Rhino put out "Halloween Hits", that might be of interest.

Frankenstein - Edgar Winter Group Hocus Pocus - Focus Season Of The Witch - Donovan Man on the Silver Mountain - Rainbow Acid Annapolis - Leon Russell (not sure if this one fits theme-wise, but it used to scare the be-jeebers out of me when I played it on my headphones)

Black Sabbath - Black Sabbath (especially with the thunder and rain at the beginning and Ozzy singing "No, No, please God Help me") Even the album cover will give you the creeps! Savatage - "The Dungeons are calling", "The Grace of the Witch" and "Power of the Night" to name a few. Fates Warning has some creepy songs especially on their "Night on Brocken" album! Dio's "Last In Line" and "Dream Evil" Iron Maiden's "Killers" and "Wrathchild" Ozzy's "Bark at the Moon" even if he makes a ludicrous werewolf!

Savatage - "The Dungeons are calling", "The Grace of the Witch" and "Power of the Night" to name a few. Great call. I think some of the stuff off 'Hall of the Mountain King" would work really well too. I think Trans-Siberian Orchestra should branch out into a Halloween themed album. It would expand their horizons and give them a reason to tour for another month or two. For classical The Sorcerer's Apprentice works well.

TSO could rely on one ex-Savatage member for that Halloween feel! Mossourgsky's "Night on Bald Mountain" would work as well!

French composer Camille Saint-Saëns has two pieces that come to mind: Fossils from the Carnival of the Animals and Danse Macabre. In both of them the xylophone is highlighted (imagine playing on a skeleton or at least a rib cage).
