How old are you in the Lord?(if you know the exact date, please give it).

I got saved in May 1995. So I am a little over 13 years old.

quote:

Are you baptized? If yes, when?

Yes. I got baptized in 1996.

quote:

Have you been called into something specific for the Lord?

Yes, but I'd prefer not to discuss it here just yet. I'm still praying about it. I've been called into this type of ministry for a while - have had lots of confirmation etc. I've been making steps in that direction already.

quote:

How did you know what it was that He was calling you to do?

A knowing in my spirit, prayer, the word, and confirmation from lots of different people who didn't know anything at all about me.

quote:

Please feel free to add any question which would help us get to know you better. I know this is not a personal dating site, and am not asking for anything along those lines. Just whatever would help some of us younger believers along the path we are called to walk. So for fellowship and growth feel free to ask away.

The only piece of advice that I can give is just to trust the Lord with your entire heart. Don't beat up yourself too much, just trust that God is working within you - repent when you must - but don't get mired down in a lot of extraneous things. There is a sweetness to the Christian life even in its hardnesses that often becomes apparent the longer you walk. Just trust in him for all things - he will never truly fail you - although it might seem that way at times during the moment. But in the long run - you'll see, there is not a more faithful friend, loving father, or awesome God.

How old are you in the Lord?(if you know the exact date, please give it).

I was saved 10-1/2 years ago. Listening to Greg Laurie on the radio, stopped at a stop sign, no traffic, and that was when I opened my heart to Him.

Are you baptized? If yes, when?

Yes! I was baptized on October 15, 2006 after the Sunday evening service. It was hands-down the greatest experience of my life!!

Have you been called into something specific for the Lord?

Yes. The Lord has a specific use for me, which He prepared me to do during a horrible and abusive marriage. But that is just one thing. He uses me for little things too. I am still waiting for Him to disclose more ... He has been teaching me a lot.

How did you know what it was that He was calling you to do?

I knew after my ex and I had separated and I had a little time to start healing, and one day I looked into the eyes of another woman, immediately I knew she was wearing the same shoes as me. It was actually very frightening, almost like I could see inside of her.

Please feel free to add any question which would help us get to know you better. I know this is not a personal dating site, and am not asking for anything along those lines. Just whatever would help some of us younger believers along the path we are called to walk. So for fellowship and growth feel free to ask away.

... and so I will ...

Do you have a mentor or accountability partner?

I do. I call her my spiritual mom. She is someone I can talk to about anything, no matter how personal or *silly* and I can trust her to maintain my confidence and guide me to verses in the Bible to help me grow.

Along these lines, there is a young lady in my church who has recently begun a monthly "girl's night out". She invites certain women from the church who possess qualities that she would like to have. It's a really great time of fellowship!

11 years since I rededicated my life to God though I was first saved when I was just 3.
I quote:

Are you baptized? If yes, when?

Yes.I was babtized about 7-8 years ago.

quote:

Have you been called into something specific for the Lord?
Not yet but I am praying and praying I will be.
quote:

How did you know what it was that He was calling you to do?

I am yet to figure that out which frustrates me.I mean after knowing the Lord so long I should know what his will for my life is by now,Shouldn't I?

Sunshine, you have a heart for God, and it is a joy to know you(so to speak). Don't worry about your calling. It will come to you in His timing. I know that sounds like a put off, because I don't know what to say, but it isn't. Maybe you haven't been tempered yet. Maybe He still has work to do in you, as He does me, before we are ready for our calling. This is not a sprint, but a marathon. So take it as it comes. Before long, you will be doing just what you are meant to do. And maybe, just maybe, you already are and don't even know it.

Many lives can be changed right here on this forum. People sign up everyday that don't know the Lord, or have struggles. Maybe right now you are to help them, and show them the love of Christ. Nothing could be more important than reaching a lost soul.

So keep your head up sunshine, for He holds you in the palm of His mighty hand, and He has amazing plans for you, plans to prosper you, not harm you, to give you hope and a future. He has something specific for you to do, a mission only you can accomplish. Just be patient.

Take care.

Focusing, great question. Accountability is important to growth. Sad to say I don't have one yet, but I have my Mother and my Sister to hold me accountable for now. But I will be looking. Thanks for the question.

Love this thread SavedByGraceMD.

quote:

How old are you in the Lord?(if you know the exact date, please give it).

50 years. I don't ever reminber not believing in the Lord Jesus Christ, but I asked Him to become my Saviour about 50 years ago.

quote:

Are you baptized? If yes, when?

Yes, about 50 years ago, shortly after accepting Jesus.

quote:

Have you been called into something specific for the Lord?

Yes, I think so. A mother and grandmother, a care giver, a VBS leader, teacher of children and women's group, an encourager, in a lot of little ways, and possability a peacemaker.

quote:

How did you know what it was that He was calling you to do?

Well, with VBS director our pastor said we wouldn't have a VBS that year if someone didn't do it. The Lord really blessed our VBS that year and for years to come, and truly helped me to grow in so many ways. The way He blessed both it and me, and confirmation from others is why I think He called me to do this.
As a sad note, our new (81 year old) pastor took over leading VBS this past summer, and between the changes he made and some division between some women in the church, we ended up on Friday with only 5 children left and almost half the church leaving. What His plans for me in this area is in the future, I don't know.
As far as the woman's Bible study, I felt led and when I brought it up at church, several women said they had been thinking about wanting the same thing.
As far as peacemaker, I am the only one on frindly terms with both sides of the division within our chuch, both with the ones that remain at the church, and sharing a home Bible study with most of the ones who left. I pray that the Lord can use me to help bring some healing between the too.

As an older christan, what I would pass on to you younger ones is not to be like me in your growth in the Lord. I would say my growth most of my life has been an upwards zig-zag pattern where it should have been a smooth upward climb. Too many times I would grow some and then kind of put the Lord on the shelf (so to speak) while I was busy with other things of this world. I think I've grown the most in the last 10 years, and as someone else said the more you know, the more you understand you don't know. I'm not done growing yet. So live Your faith, every minute of every day. God bless.

It is something that is close to your heart, or something you hear being whispered in your heart, especially as you read God's word. If you are not hearing that voice speak to you yet, then be patient. God is still working in you and will reveal your calling. It may be something that you don't think you can do, but the Spirit will enable you if that is the case. In our weakness, He is strong.

Awe Thanks so much.I am trying to be patient and wait on the Lord, but my love for him makes me want to do more.It seems as so many people know the Lords will for them, and me not knowing it makes me question things you know. What does being tempered mean? God is doing a work in me and I can see him changing my heart, but yes I do have a ways to go.I guess I will just keep praying and doing whatever I can to serve the Lord in the meantime.God bless you and have a good night,Love always Sunshine.

How old are you in the Lord?(if you know the exact date, please give it).

almost 30, March 11, 1979

Are you baptized? If yes, when?
Yes, but I don't remember the exact date, I had been a Christian for a few years

Have you been called into something specific for the Lord?
I beliYes, disability ministry. Probably the one population most neglected by the church is disabled children. By disabled I mean any physical problem or learning problem that prevents or hinders a child from participating with their age level peers.

How did you know what it was that He was calling you to do?
Partly from life experience. I have twins who are developmentally delayed. We are very fortunate to be in a church where my girls are loved and accepted as they are, but it hasn't always been so. Unfortunately I have known too many people who either can't attend church or only one spouse can attend or their attendance is sporatic due to their child's disability. I also know of churchs where families were asked to leave because of a disabled child's behavior. God brought me into contact with people who assist churches in developing special needs ministries. We are in the recruitment stage for workers and writing our mission statement. I think the passion I have for this must be close to what a missionary feels for those they are called to serve. Outside of my salvation and God's faithfulness there is nothing I am more sure of.

How old are you in the Lord?
I do not remember a time in my life when I did not believe in Jesus.
if I have to put an official date on it..... maybe when I was 5, while recovering from a moment of abuse. that would make me 37.

Are you baptized?
yes, when I was 12, I got the traditional 3 sprinkles on the head baptism at the church i was raised in, and then when I was 19 in a very cold lake I got a little bit more than sprinkled.

Have you been called into something specific for the Lord?
yes, but it is not what I do, it is who I am.

How did you know what it was that He was calling you to do?

when I forgave my parents, I knew.

Do you have a mentor or accountability partner?

I can't think of one specific mentor, there have been a lot of good people in my life who have played a part. and yes, I have a few accountability partners.
