Ok everyone, just letting you know that our quartet has officially formed!

This quartet is a product of these forums. Noah (MTTROCKS) and I were introduced here.. And when I found out he was a high tenor from my area (Springfield, MO), I knew all we had to do was to find two other guys!

Our lineup:
Tenor: Noah Lyons
Lead: Greg Mitchell
Baritone: Sam Paasch
Bass: Matt Paasch

Our name is hopefully a little unique for Southern Gospel. We were searching for a good name, and had several ideas. However, one of the songs we've been practicing is Legacy Five's "Steppin' Out On The Water." When I made a demo of us singing it, I just placed "Steppin' Out" as our name. I wasn't going to put the "Untitled Quartet"! Well, the guys liked it.

And in truth, we are "Steppin' Out"... in faith! This is a new venture for all four of us. So keep us in your prayers as we try to do what God would have us to.

We've been practicing for several months now, and we're still working on material. We had the privilege of singing at my church a couple Sundays ago, and last night, we got to sing at a revival in a small town near here.

For those on myspace, we have a page there! http://myspace.com/steppinoutquartet

I will try and post updates in this thread as they come up!

This one will be fun to watch, since it's a real forums quartet. (SamPaasch is also a member here.)

Same here.... it can be a pain!

I was able to post brand new photos of us Monday night. And I'm going to see if I can get the guys to agree on recording a video clip of us practicing a bit this Saturday...

Yes David, and to make it cheaper for you, I can guarantee that you won't have to use much of that fuel..... we don't have too many dates lined up!

In fact, we don't have any set in stone yet! A few potential ones though....

I have 3 words for you guys. "Dress for Success". i saw your videos on myspace, and y'all looked like you were going fishin', not singing for our Lord Jesus Christ. I am not a suit and tie fanatic, as I have pointed out on here, but I think dressing sharp and neat are important. Matching Polo shirts, matching pants, nice button up shirts of the same sort, even if they are a different color look nice. I saw the Kingsmen a few years back in Townsend TN. and they had a nice outdoor look. It was dress pants and a solid color long sleeve button up shirt, tucked in and neat. None of thier pants or shirts matched each other, but they dressed the same style wise.
I think that is important. I saw a Gold City video that kind of turned me off. 2 guys had a jacket on, one had a western cowboy type shirt, one had a solid black outfit, no jacket.
Like I have said on here alot, I dont' love ties, but I think a group needs to dress like a group. If you say lets wear jackets and no ties, that's great, but everybody do it. If you wanna wear polos, everybody do it.
Not saying that I am right or you are wrong in how your group dresses, but that is my opinion, and as a potential customer in the future, others may share my opinion.
God Bless you all in your endevour.

Guys i've listened to the songs and y'all sound great! I love that each of y'all are expressing yourself through your clothes. The pictures from the other night look great too.

God doesn't care that much about clothes. I have found that when groups are singing to and about our Lord, I don't really even notice the clothes. Of course I have not seen anyone with holes in their jeans or mustard on their shirt so I think their judgement of what they wear should be their choice. I then choose to listen to the message or choose to judge the clothes.

I have not and cannot see the video but was this not made at a rehearsal. The group has not even done one concert as yet. Just wanted us to hear their sound. Give them a break. Lift them up, not cut them down.

I think the videos I seen were from a performance. It seemed like it. They were outside and on a wagon, and it seemed to be public, as I could see people milling around in the background.
And I wasn't tearing anyone down. I was making what I thought was a good suggestion. I really do feel like a group should dress nice. Alot of it is presentation.

You have to keep in mind, since it was an outdoor event, maybe the dresscode was a bit more casual than would be an outdoor arena with bigger groups.

If I remember correctly, the guys sang at their church's old timey day...give them a break. Obviously, you guys haven't seen the quartet's latest photos......very sharp and classy, not that it should really matter.

Yes, it was at the church's old timey day, and for an outdoor church event where they just sang a song or two (not a full concert) I thought their outfits weren't out of place.

Now I do happen to like matching suits, but for a group that hasn't even done their first concert yet...I say, give them a break.

We're hoping to get some new videos up soon. And yes, those close do look funny on us! We were singing at my church's Old Fashioned Sunday. That's where everyone dresses in some old fashioned clothing. It was part of the theme. Even our pastor dressed in overalls! Some people were dressed in pioneer cloths, some western, some hillbilly, and one of my friends even wore an afro!

It was all in fun.

In fact, if I remember right, I remember seeing a shot of the Cathedrals in western wear (circa 80's), they did it because that was part of the venue.

I encourage you to go look at our recent pictures on myspace! You will see that we are dressed up! I'll even change my avatar to show you!

If we all had the clothes, we probably would have sang in hillbilly theme that day. Matching overalls and everything... but we didn't.

Oh.... and I think we were goin' fishing. Isn't that what Christians are supposed to be doing? We won over the crowd that afternoon, and all the glory went to God! That's all that matters.

Yep. Being fishers of men for Christ is the important thing.

Matt and Sam, I for one will not wear a suit singing and will not wear a tie. I will dress in comfort for me. I believe God looks at your love for Him and who you are dpoing it for. Do the music for God not the people. i say I want my group to have one fan first and foremost, that is Jesus.

God doesn't care what you dress like I believe. If some want to go that routre, how about how Jesus spoke out against the fine robes and attire.

You guys have a God given talent. Give God the glory.
