By the way, I meant to tell you ... a friend of mine took some of your "fried corn" and mixed a little flour with it and fried it in little cakes... yummy!

Sounds good. Sorta like potato cakes.

I love left-over mashed potato cakes.

Someone just told us tonight that cornbread doesn't have sugar but johnny cakes do. I guess what I've always thought of cornbread must really be johnny cakes, although the recipe book calls it cornbread.

Some people put sugar in their cornbread. I don't. When I eat cornbread I want cornbread. When I want it sweet I eat cake. Preferably German Chocolate.

I look at it and say if you put honey in it, you don't have to put honey on top. But then maybe southerners don't sweeten it after it's cooked either?

I don't usually. From time to time if I have fresh honey I will put some on top of hot cornbread.

Me too and I want it made with CORN meal and not corn meal mix with flour in it. Corn meal, buttermilk, shortening and egg. Country boy would say lard instead of shortening.

Hi, everyone!

I think I'm going to head off to bed early tonight, but first, I thought I'd post one more thing for the day.

I've had the Gaither Vocal Band CD Give it Away for a good while now. There's a song on there called "A Place Called Hope." I'd heard it several times when playing the CD, but I never really listened to it, if you know what I mean.

Anyhow, the lyrics just jumped out and grabbed me today:

"There's a road somewhere
There's an open door
There's a hill where the green grass grows
There's a family feast
Where there's joy and peace
Going back to a place called hope"

Wow!

I guess God saved it for me till today—knowing I could use some hope today.

God is good, that's for sure. He knows exactly what we need, and provides it exactly when we need it.

Good evening, everyone!

How are you all doing tonight? I'm doing fine. Did some gardening, now I'm posting while digesting a yummy dinner of spaghetti with meat sauce, salad and sugar free vanilla ice cream with sugar free chocolate syrup. Also some coffee.

Anyway, I'll be popping in and out, so talk to ya!

It is so hard to know where to start when saying what I'm thankful for. Part of my list is:

my family, wonderful friends (including y'all), God's love, the ability to serve God, firewood, my grandparents are still living, our needs are always met, God continues to allow me to meet neat people including some people in Southern Gospel music. I'm trusting that I am not the same today as I was last year and that next year, I won't be the same as I am now. I trust that God will continue to move me closer to Him and for that, I am eternally grateful.

Tonight, I'm thankful for God waking me up at 6AM to go to church, only to find out that it was actually 5 AM due to end of Daylight Savings time. It gave me more time to get ready for the day and a more peaceful drive to church. I just moseyed down the road, enjoying the passing scenery and meditating on God's promises. I wonder why that driver behind me was honking and giving me that Hawaiian good luck sign as he whipped around me?

Seriously, I drove at the speed limit and watched where I was driving, while praying for a safe journey. Nobody gave me any Hawaiian good luck sign, which was from a joke that I cannot post here due to tos.

Good evening everyone. I am watching football on TV, (the college game on ESPN)

And Pam says hi to everyone. She is on her way home from Baton Rouge. She had three concerts in Louisiana this weekend.
