I have a day in front of me.

DeeDee and Poppa went to camp - BigBee is self sufficent and I could do ANYTHING I want to get done today and what do I want to do - sleep.

I didn't get home until 12:30 last night and had a migraine or whatever when I got home. I pulled over sick about 2 miles from the house.

Now, I have a jammied kid watching cartoons. He is 14...

I should clean up around here and surprise hubby.

MBee, I hope you're feeling better soon. Migraines are just nasty!

Faith, what are the care packages for? That's something I like to do when I can.

Yes, it's getting late for me. Won't be long and it will be the early hours of Sunday morning for me.

I've had a rough time of things lately, but I'm hanging in there.

While we've had some rain the last week or so, no thunder. Just the sound of gun fire when someone's getting married.

At school today and the girls are being so well-behaved. I love parent conferences. Really they're good girls, but I did mention to a few parent the talkative natures of some of the girls.

Well, in a few minutes the Islam teacher will be here and then I'm off to walk in the basement. I made a new playlist for my iPod for walking with just faster paced songs, or at least a good rhythm for walking. That way I don't have to FF over the slower ones.

Have a nice day, ladies.

Care packages for college kids are just too cool.

We have a college students mom who buys a magazine and puts it in a mailler and then adds stuff (I've seen candy and a shirt) and seals it up.

We had a co-worker lose his son this week. I have to keep saying that because it doesn't seem real. My son is exactly 4 years younger and very similar in type. This young man had everything we would want our sons and daughters to achieve. High scores on his tests, high enough for a full ride at college. Friends like you wouldn't believe. A special girl. But, he also was suffering from a mental illness and even though he was getting help, he lost the battle with the demons within.

From what I can gather - he fought hard.

And I'm sitting here, feeling awful for people I care about deeply, and thinking about you sending packages and praying for these kids who are old enough to be on their own and yet oh-so-young.

I'm thankful for what you are doing.

I'm thankful for everyone who prayed for me.

It's what God has told me to do (care packages, kids, etc.) In fact, DH and I are getting ready to start up the young adult ministry (meaning college kids and whoever else wants to come)...for our church. It's something that's really been on my heart a lot lately, esp. since I heard we only had ONE college student show up at our local college for "See You At the Pole".

Granted, I know college kids don't like to get up early. Anyway, just something we're feeling led to do.

Work has been busy....thankfully I have a new para starting tomorrow. That should help some.

So...did Jennifer say how long her honeymoon would be?

That is SO SAD!

I remember feeling that way a few years ago. After attempting suicide several times, I rededicated my life to Christ and am now walking in Him. I still get depressed from time to time, but God has shown me ways to overcome it.

The loss isn't mine to bear - but if you think of Brandon's family in the next weeks and months, especially with the holidays, I'd appreciate it, and I know they would too.

{{{Momma Bee}}} It's scary when it hits so close to home, isn't it?

Today has been cool, cloudy, and drizzling. Really nice.

((((((((((((((((((MBee)))))))))))))))))))

(((((((((((((((((BRANDON'S FAMILY))))))))))))))))))))))))))))

I love the idea of the care packages. I've done them too when the Lord has led me to. Last time it was for some girls/women in a drug rehab/halfway house. I had a lot of fun doing it.

Well, how is everyone surviving the week so far?

Did anyone do anything special for Veteran's Day? aka Armistice Day/Remembrance Day?

We're doing all right here. It's just been busy with school and getting things ready for the sub tomorrow as I have meetings tomorrow.

DH and I need to hit the store soon to finish our Operation Christmas Child boxes. Is anyone else here doing that this year? I know different churches collect at different times....

The week? So far, so good!

Veteran's Day? Spent the day with my favorite veteran ... my wonderful DH who is active duty military ... he just got home from Iraq 8 days ago ... that's cause enough for celebration. We actually spent much of the day dealing with a rescued kitten, getting stuff done around the house (adjusting sprinklers, filling bird feeders, planting geraniums, washing the car) ... but we did go out to dinner. Now, we're packing since we're leaving in the morning for a 3-day visit to the coast! (Pictures to come, I promise!)

We got a really nice thank you from our local Catholic Charities today, since we've hit the $500 mark for donating groceries to the poor. I don't know why, but that made me smile AND cry. (What a noodle I am!)

Anyway, we're off to Monterey and Carmel Wed-Friday ... have a great week, ladies!

I spent part of the day with my favorite veteran...aka DH. We had school though so I was working. He did come up to talk with some of the fourth graders though.

Now I'd better get ready for those meetings unless I want to be late. Have a great day everyone!

Had a pretty quiet week so far.

There's some companies over here that you pay a little bit of money to each week/fortnight and then in November, the food you ordered gets delivered. Ours came yesterday. We always get extra to give to make up for hampers for the needy. We have some school chaplains in our church, so they give hampers to families in need. Some go to needy members of our fellowship. We love when they come. We get the excitement of seeing what's in the boxes. Frozen foods, grocery items, party foods if you've ordered them. That way, you don't have a huge outlay at the end of the year for food etc. Our cupboards are now full, the freezer is looking respectable and we've got boxes of food to take down to church. YAY!

That reminds me that we were going to look at the Angel Food Boxes this month & forgot to do so. Or maybe we did and decided against it as the items didn't sound appealing to either DH or I.

It's Thursday! Yeah! Weekend! Tonight after school I have parent conferences with the kids' teachers. I'm pooped. Almost time for lunch then a couple more classes and then out for a couple of days. I'm counting down the days until vacation.

Someone on another forum mentioned cornbread. I'm thinking of breaking out the crockpot and making some beans and cornbread this weekend.

Have a nice day, ladies.

Angel Food Boxes? Are they food donations? I've heard the name, but don't know what they are.

It is a discount purchase program. You pay so much and get food worth twice as much. But you don't have any say so in what you get. You can buy as many 'packages' as you want and there is some choice involved but when I look at it, I don't think that two packages of any one thing is enough to feed my crew.

Churches are part of the program, there is no income requirements, you just need to sign up ahead of time.

I think about doing it, but never get around to it.
