What Momma_bee said. Here's a link if you want to learn more about the ministry. I think it's just here in the US though...although it may be international.

Less than 2 weeks to Thanksgiving. WooHoo!!! I cannot wait for VACATION! Even if it is only a 4 day weekend.....

I think it's a great idea. I don't know if we have it here, but it certainly would be helpful.

Well, I did some googling on it to look for ideas, etc. Sounds like Australia has the same ministry where they send out to other countries!

Well, I don't have any pumpkin pie, but I do have some pumpkin cookies? Anyone want some?

ohh, sounds yummy Catherine! If I take the cookies, do I have to take the calories that go with them?

A Little Light Reading for your pleasure. I was looking for something else when I came across that.

I'd like to take a day off and do nothing but bake - but that isnt' happening. Mainly because my kitchen / dining room needs a whole day just to be cleaned up to bake.

We've got the space to do baking. I'd get shot if I tried now though. It's nearly midnight, and I don't think people would want to be woken by all my noise. That, and my body wouldn't take it right now anyway.

MONDAY MORNING MUSINGS ....

1. It was 81 degrees here yesterday. It's going to be 80 degrees here today. And tomorrow. It should be in the low 60s. I am delighted by the sunny and warm weather .... but it just seems so "out of place" for November! Good thing I didn't put away any of my warm weather clothes quite yet, huh?

2. I just went through ALL my closets and drawers and have come up with five large bags of clothing to donate ... woo hoo. This includes two pairs of shoes that seemed like a good idea at the time, but really didn't work. Shoe regret, be gone! Someone deserving will appreciate this stuff, I hope.

3. I was out front this morning filling bird feeders (we're having a fabulous fall finch fest here at Casa Harvie) ... and a little guy landed on my head! I just FROZE, and then he hopped right onto the feeder. Pretty cool.

4. My wonderful DH is sooooooo sweet. I was looking longingly online at some animal rescue t-shirts I wanted and he said I could order three. (Which I did!) He called them back and paid extra for 2nd day shipping so I could "play with my new clothes sooner." Oh my gosh, he's just so.... nice!!!

5. Has anyone had rain gutters installed at their home? Do you recall how much they were?

We got to 84 yesterday and 75 today. As much as I like the cooler weather, I'm not looking too forward to it because we have no way to heat our house.

Our main winter heating solution involves piling kitty cats all over the bed.... it works wonders.

In case anyone is wondering, I don't live anywhere near the part of Brisbane which was destroyed by the storm a couple of days ago.

Roberta you should call them, they have aid programs. In my state its illegal to shut off heat for non payment, but I don't know if it gets that cold where you live.

Our heat was not shut off. Our heating unit had to be removed a few years ago due to a gas leak. The gas leak was repaired and the heating unit was disposed of because it's so old. They have everything for a pellet stove. Just waiting for my BIL to install it. Been waiting on him for over two years now.

I'd be learning how to install a pellet stove...

Then again - I have an oil furnace that you must manually turn on and off. So, no heat all day long since no one is home. No heat at night when we are sleeping. And it runs constantly all evening to warm the house up. I don't know what is wrong with it, but we can't have anyone in because you can't walk through our basement...

So, maybe I will go with the cat approach...

We have five cats, so we're off to a good start with the cat approach.

Would you like some more?

We thought we kept a Tom, but I am begining to suspect that we did not...

If we take her in to be fixed and she is in the family way - it is unChristian to have her fixed anyhow? I really want the cat, even though I try to give it away with every opportunity. I even thought about getting him fixed when it was a him, but now I'm unsure of the gender but I know we can't get rid of a litter of kittens and a winter litter won't make it outdoors anyways....

So this post isn't a complete downer - at least the name is gender neutral - Cheerios, but it answers to CAT. You know, CAT get out of my way.

If she is pg., it's too bad she wouldn't deliever a little earlier so that folks could take the kitties and give them away as Christmas presents.

But they WON'T. We are rural and no one wants kittens. Everyone who wants a cat has them - I have tried twice. We can take them to a feed mill - if they have space.

Once it took kittens to a shelter, and I kept this one. Folks just dump them off at any house that has a bus stop because if you have kids, the kids will want to keep them...
