Hazel, it sounds like your husband really wants you to come. In that situation, I'd do whatever I had to do to go. You can find arrangements for the kids. They're plenty old enough to be left. It could be a wonderful time for your marriage!

too bad we all don't live closer. His- I don't belong to our local homeschooling group anymore either, and there aren't many folks around here that I'd leave my kids with.

I pm'd this info to Judii, but I figure with all the talk here, I'll post it for all of you. In lieu of a passport for Canada-US travel, you can get a Nexus pass. It allows you to cross back and forth whenever you'd like, and without hassle. You are essentially pre-screened and approved. It is $50 per adult, good for 5 years. Kids 16 & under are free. It is mostly for land and water travel, but apparently they can also be used for air travel, BUT you need to do your screening interview at very select sights, as they require a scan of your irises for the document if you are wanting to use it for flight. You can find the info (and application) HERE

I love FF...so much so that I haven't used IE in years!!! Same here! And all the CW buttons do work with Firefox. I agree with Donna and the others His-if you can swing it, go. At least try for one trip. Annie, We have that winter wind here again. Today was gorgeous-63 and sunny. We come out of dance and although the temp was 52, the cold, biting north wind was blowing. I was very glad I insisted that my blessing have a jacket and I was glad I had mine too cause we needed them. The temp tomorrow is supposed to be 46 but with the wind blowing the real feel will be 36. My blessing can now shoot baskets-with a normal size basketball hoop, not a kid size one. She was even able to get one in the basket doing it overhand! She was so excited she couldn't wait to show Daddy when he came home. Once she got the hang of it she would get one in out of every three-and I had her switch to underhand so she would not get worn out. She does stand close to the basket but I could not do that at her age. Dh says he could not even do that now, lol!

How fun that your blessing is learning to shoot hoops! That's really great. My dd is eleven. We have a basketball hoop in our driveway. She is pretty good at shooting hoops. It surprises me. She is not very tall, but she has a knack for it. I should encourage that more.

We almost got stuck in Canada several years ago. We were at Niagra Falls and decided to cross the Rainbow Bridge and see the Canadian Falls. Getting OUT of the US is no big deal. You go through a gate and walk across a bridge. We all got into Canada on dh's drivers licence--I had left my purse in the car and the kids didn't have any ID. We wandered around the falls, had some ice cream and headed back over the Rainbow Bridge. Getting back into the US was not easy!!! Dh was no problem, since he had ID. They questioned the kids (who are these people you are with?) and asked me a whole lot of questions--parent's birthplace, mom's maiden name, etc. I asked if dh could go to the car to get my ID but they said he had to get out of there. It was quite scary!!! I am sick today. Yesterday's running nose has turned into a head cold. Oh well. I skipped this morning's workouts. I probably could have done them, but since it's so cold, I didn't think it was wise. So, I'll go grocery shopping and get the oil changed. Hopefully I'll be up for a run tomorrow.

Hazel, if you had your ID, it would have been no problem? I ask because Brian and I are thinking of going to Niagara Falls for our anniversary in January. Neither of us have passports and if we have to get a passport card to go there, we won't go. License and birth certificate should be enough until June, right? And for Esther? Is the birth certificate enough or not?

Donna--we went to Canada five years ago. I know that things have changed since then. I would check and double check to see what documentation you need to get back into the US! Ds3 is mad at me. I just graded yesterday's math. Long division. All he gave me is answers. No work. None of 'em come out, and he gave me answers with eight digits. Hmm... calculators give answers to eight digits. Coincidence??? I just gave him a page from mathworksheets.com and asked him to do half the page (3 whole problems!!!) and he had a hissy fit.

Donna beat me to it, His, but yeah, the boys could come here if you want to go. I know things have been rocky with your marriage and I can totally understand NOT wanting to go - 6 months ago I wouldn't have wanted to go anywhere with my dh either - but it might be a good opportunity for you guys to work some things out without the distraction of house and kids. Think about it, OK?

Oh, you mean if they read for an hour they can play on the computer for an hour? That's a good idea. It has been pouring down rain here today. It feels chilly in the house today.

Annie, I'm sorry your dd is sick. My cough had been gone for about a week. It is back now. I do not think it was due to being outside since I was out on Tuesday which was a windy chilly day and yesterday was mild. They do keep the building we dance in rather cold on Wed. and we were there for 2 1/2 hours last night. I wonder if it was that coldness that did it? Right now the actual temp is 40, but the real feel is 26-due to that wind.

Woooo Hooo! David can finally make his hard and soft "th" sounds! I am so thrilled. He has a lateral lisp so he hasn't been able to make those sounds properly. It was so stressful for him that I rarely tried to work with him, only once in a great while. When today, I told him how to do it, he understood and did it perfectly even when he tried it in words! I am so thrilled! He says it sounds weird to him, but I assured him that it sounded perfect and only sounded weird because he wasn't used to hearing himself doing it the right way. If he gets this good then all he will have wrong with his speech are vowels with Bossy R (ur, ir, or, er,).
