We bought tickets to see the Trans-Siberian Orchetra in a few weeks. I can't wait to go, but am surprised we were able to get 6 tickets all together. It is almost completely sold out and we got the last block of seats that are together. Man I wish I could shrink myself and climb into someones pocket and go with you! I watch them every year on their PBS special! I finally took Zoe to the Dr. They ended up giving her a shot of a muscle relaxer so she could relax and to allow her stomach to rest and her to SLEEP! She fell asleep on the way home at about 1:15 and finally woke up at about 4:30! She's feeling better. Kinda grouchy but better. The Doctor said that this bug has been going around and the biggest problem, especially in kids is dehydration. She never did have a fever of any sort. Blessings, Garsy

Ok, I just have to share this. Tonight we had to go get haircuts. Now my Chinese son has been going on and on for the last week how he didn't want his hair cut and he wasn't going to do it. So today he was looking at hairstyles online and found this mohawk that was just outrageous and I was like no way. Well, he downloaded a pic of it to his PSP and brought the PSP to the hair place without asking. We do request that he ask before he bring that because we do encourage conversation in the car. So we get to where we were going and we decided to have him go first so he would be done and we could stop listening to him whining. He gets this haircut that is a mohawk, but when he wears it down, it really looks good on him. When he was done, he went into the bathroom and played with his hair while the rest of us got our hair cut. Then we get home and he goes into the first bathroom and plays with his hair and admires it for like 10 minutes. Then he leaves the bathroom, walks down the hall to the other bathroom and does the same thing. Then Kay wanted to use the bathroom and Kali was in the other one so she asked him to let her in and he got out for her. The second she was out, he was back in there admiring his new hair. I think he has spent more than an hour in front of a mirror tonight. It is so funny because he is like that to begin with. Whenever we pass a mirror or something reflective, he has to stop and check out his hair. We have been teasing him and joking with him all night.

I'm SOOOOOOOO tired of unreliable carpool participants!!! We do a carpool every week for 5th grade choir. There are three of us moms that rotate so we can get the kids into the school by 8:15. There has been one mom that either A: doesn't have her daughter ready in time to go. B: doesn't call if her daughter is sick and can't go. C: oversleeps and isn't reliable to get up and make sure all the kids get to school on time for practice. In her defense she does work 3rd shift, but she made this commitment to not only her daughter but to the rest of the group as well! And she only does it once every 3 weeks! Zoe's doing better this morning. No fever and no upset tummy! YEA!!! She is still staying home today. It hasn't been 24 hours since her last vomit or nearly 24 hours after her fever broke. We are going to stay home today and make gingersnap cookies! I do believe we are going to head out after Aryn's Enrichment class this afternoon. So that means I'm going to be packing and cleaning and arranging for animal care all day. I need to call over to the neighbor girls after the older kids get home and get a key to her so she can come in and take care of the cat, gerbils and fish. The dog needs a bath before we leave too. So I've got a busy day ahead of me! Blessings, Garsy

Glad to hear that she is feeling better. So does that mean you feel confident you can travel comfortably? And, I just found out my sister won't be coming for Thanksgiving. No explanation. She lives 20 minutes from my mom and 5 minutes from my BIL's family. I know they have suffered losses in the family, but don't you at least come in for coffee or sumthin'? I'm feeling bitter. Then again, that could be hunger - I mix them up sometimes... :?)

Candy bar made it better - must have been hunger. Someday I'll understand what is up with my sister, until then, more food for me...

Garcy, Last year, I was in a carpool that involved 3 sets of parents and one set of grandparents and 10 kids and three schools. Plus the kids were all on different schedules. We worked well together and only left kids at school once. This year, our carpool is only two families so things have gone well with the exception of Kali being left at school because two of us were at the same school.

I totally forgot to post what I was going to post. Tonight I had to make a last minute run to the store and I got a really good parking spot. I get into the store, get all my stuff, and walk out my usual way. I always park in the same section and since I was parked really close, I started to panic when I didn't see my car. I went through 5 isles of cars and still could not find my car. Three other women gave me the "I did that today too" response when they saw me walking aimlessly around the parking lot. By now, I am in a total panic because my car is totally missing. So finally, I hit the panic button on my remote and I had parked way on the other side of the parking lot. I think I am too young to be having those moments.

Tracy - I was doing the SAME THING. DeeDee is great about remembering for me and I don't really pay attention, but I went shopping with BigBee. At least the fellow in the parking lot that saw us got a good laugh out of it... I have don't nothing that I wanted to do today. Nothing. I think I will be breaking my little girls heart. For the last two years, she has asked to see Nutcracker and I had to say no. This year, I said no to the Pittsburgh performance, the Erie one, and couldn't get the tickets thru scouts. So, I bought us tickets to see a dance school performance Sunday night. We are getting a snow and ice storm and we were driving north. Now, I could get a hotel room, but that would add $$ to the cost. And, Monday is the first day of buck so Poppa would be up all night worrying and then I'd worry about him in the woods. I tried to explain that she needed to be prepared for me to say no on Sunday and she is devestated. Makes me feel like a bad mom even though it is beyond my control. She was so excited...

Well, that is one reason I hate shopping during the Christmas rush. Finding the car. But I really did think it was stolen. Isn't it funny how we get into habits and when we change them up they mess up our brains?????

Hey all back after a CRAZY weekend! Please tell me why I put myself through this torture 3 or 4 times a year and remind me of that the next time I say we are going to visit inlaws in the Southern part of the state? Please forgive me if this gets long. And don't read if you have a weak stomach or don't want to hear about folks losing their Thanksgiving feast, thanks to the stomach flu. I've warned you! I also warn you not to read if . . . . . . Well all I can say is read at your own risk. You have been warned We left Wednesday about 7 PM for a 5 hour trip! Stupid I know, but we wanted to get down there before Thanksgiving day dinner. We only had to turn around and go back home once this time. We almost forgot the pumpkin pie Aryn made. We get there and promptly crash til about 9 AM at my In-Laws. At this point I will also mention that my husband's grandmother lives with them. These 3 people are NOT meant to live together. It is a seriously TOXIC environment, full of tension and arguments and a old lady (grandma) that has some serious health issues and is stubborn and manipulative beyond compare and an old man that is as equally stubborn and hard headed and ALWAYS has to be right and has a tendency to pick fights. And then there's Brian's Mom. I tell her all the time that she is more then welcome to pack her bags and come live with me any day, to get away from it all. We had Thanksgiving dinner that afternoon at Brian's Aunt and Uncles. All is well. Oh getting ready to leave Zoe climbs into the back seat of Grandpa's pickup and promptly steps on the foil covered, freshly baked pecan pie. Little size 11 shoe print in the middle of the pie. She was so scared that she was going to be in trouble! She cried and cried! We brought it with us anyway and called it Zoe's footprint pie! It was a big hit and Zoe didn't feel quite so bad after that. Great meal cooked mostly by Brian's aunt and uncle with contributions from everyone. After dinner and a movie and some good old fashioned hanging out, we get back to the house and the bickering starts, as usual about grandma's meds and what she should and should not be eating (she has heart disease, she's on dialysis three times a week for her kidneys, and is a diabetic and is on numerous special diets that don't always agree). Her dialysis is beginning to affect her mind as is her age (she's in her 80's). Zoe ends up getting scared and comes to me crying. She thinks her grandpa doesn't love her great grandma any more and that's really sad and scary to her. Poor thing! I finally convince grandpa to turn of the TV and get the kids to bed all over their beds in the living room couch and chairs. It's late again. Friday - I don't sleep well at all and am up 7 am with major diarrhea. I then learn that Brian's mom found Ty on the floor of the bathroom at 6 AM sick. He had vomited and made a tremendous mess of things. She and Brian cleaned up as every time I looked at the mess I wanted to toss my own cookies into the pile. Ty ended up spending as much time as me in the bathroom that day, as I started with the aforementioned stuff and moved on to vomiting. It was NOT a good day. I spent more time sleeping and in the bathroom then anything else on Friday. Ty and I had a super bad case of what Zoe had last Tuesday. By the time the night was up we both had fevers too. Back to bed that night after spoon in some broth from the soup Brian's mom made. Great grandma and Brian's dad bickered some more. Grandma complained that no one ever came and got her for dinner when I KNOW Brian went in her room and told her it was ready and on the table and so did Ethan. She claimed that neither of them had even come to her room let alone told her anything about supper. She even went as far as to call Brian a liar. that he never said anything about supper at all. Brian went over to his uncles again to look through some more photos and to watch a movie with his Aunt and Uncle and talk some about what's going on with Grandma, Grandpa in the nursing home and his parents. I had the boys and myself in bed and asleep before he and the girls got back. And the good thing is is that we all slept all night long! Saturday came and went - pretty much the same bickering and the same results only this time Grandma had to go to dialysis and was gone most of the day. Brian and his Dad fixed her recliner while she was gone. She thanked Brian, but totally avoided talking to Brian's dad. It was sad really. Ethan even noticed. When she got back from dialysis she had presents for the kids that she wanted them to open so we allowed it. It was more for her then them anyway. I was REALLY glad that she let Brian's aunt and uncle do the shopping as the gifts were much more appropriate then if she did the shopping, especially for Aryn and Ty. Then Brian's dad went to his room and Grandma went to her's and we spent a quiet evening with Mom. I told her that she should do this more often - meaning that she should send them to their rooms more often, so she could have quiet evenings alone! . Then home today - I'm SO glad to be here! I'm so glad that the girls and Brian stayed healthy while we were there. We never did get over to see Brian's grandfather in the nursing home - well I think Brian went - but we also didn't want to go around spreading sick person germs all over a nursing home. Nasty stuff that stomach flu was! Anyway weekend rant over ----- - ----- - On to better stuff. Kids back to school tomorrow. We might have a delay with the fog that has settled over the area. We also have a good amount of snow on the ground. Nothing major but it looks like it is sticking. And the best news of the day - My parents are coming down before Christmas!!! They will be here from early on the 18th of December and leave likely around the 21st! They are going to bring us our new dog and they will be here for Aryn's Choir concert! Hope everyone else had a joyous and blessed Thanksgiving! Blessings, Garsy

Man, I'm gonna start a tally in Community Lounge on how many CWers and their families were sick over or aroundThanksgiving...so far, it's me, you, two of your kids, at least one of cindybode's kids (I believe), Ellie Mae's kids, my sister and brother in law, and benelchi and his son. This crazy bug is everywhere. My sister and brother in law and I all had to miss Thanksgiving dinner. I hope you all are feeling better.

Let's see between last Sunday and today it was not only me and two of my kids (the youngest and the eldest) but also my husband AND my youngest ds - only youngest ds didn't get it nearly as bad as the rest of us all. So 5 out of the 6 of us had the bug! Everyone is better around here and I'm hoping my eldest dd doesn't get it too! I forgot to mention that Aryn and Ethan have dental appointments tomorrow for fillings. They get to go to school for an hour and then I pick them up and then they are back to school for afternoon classes, hopefully! Blessings, Garsy

Zoe's almost 8! I could be wrong about her shoe size too. I should check. Okay - checked she's actually a size 12. Whoops! She is small for her age, and her 5 year old cousin wears a size larger then her! Blessings, Garsy

Made it to the Nutcracker, and back. Stress level HIGH! And, I typed "stress eleves" for that sentence. I pray the stress eleves leave me along soon. Come, sweet slumber, enshroud me in thy purple cloak... Max Headroom Art Of Noise Paranoimia on You Tube Does anyone remember that song...I had that hair cut...I remember the shirt and I matched it. Dad loved that show and couldn't get the song. I wonder if my kids look at me the same way I looked at him. I hope I didn't look at him like that.

Garsy...glad you made it back safely and sorry that it was a trying weekend. Momma-I hope that the performance was everything your dd hoped that it would be and I hope that you had a good night's rest. Sickness...most of our household has had a really heavy cold (almost flu like) virus this week.
