OK so If this is to much information I am sorry, but I am a bit worried. I had my daughter about 3 weeks ago on Monday, about a week after she was born I started bleeding (i know completely normal) but today it was a bit more heavy. Well about a hour ago or so It got quite a bit more heavy and I started to have the chills, I checked my tempature and I had a fever of 101.1 and then I just checked it again about 10 minutes ago, and it is now 103.2 I don't know if this happens all the time or if it is normal after having a baby. I don't want to go to the hospital and have it be somthing normal, and me just have wasted my time, and I don't have anyone to watch Ava so I would have to bring her with me, so I don't think it is really good idea to bring a newborn baby in the ER with all those germs. Sorry I'm just confused I don't even know if the bleeding has anything to do with the fever. Thanks ahead for the input.

I honestly think you should go to the ER. Fever and chills during part-partum bleeding is a sign that all might not be well. From epigee.org: quote:
Warning Signs Typically, lochia is not the result of any health complication and will end on its own when your body is ready. However, some women do experience problems with their postpartum bleeding. If you experience any of the following signs, call your health care provider or visit your nearest emergency room: - bright red discharge for more than seven days after birth - discharge that smells bad - fever and chills - abnormally heavy bleeding (in which a maxi pad is soaked in less than one hour) Perhaps you can ask them when you arrive if there is a side-room where you can wait. Do you have a baby carrier at all? That would also keep her nice and close to you and away from germs.

I also think you should go to the ER, or at least call the advice nurse. If she instructs you to go to the ER, just keep Ava in her infant carseat. A nurse will help care for Ava if you are busy getting tests done, etc. Or, maybe do you have someone you can kind of trust to help with Ava at the ER, like not someone you would leave her home with, but someone you trust enough to help you with you there?

I think ER would be your best bet. It's better to be safe than sorry.

Oh yeah, go to the ER. I had a baby 5 weeks ago and at three weeks you can still have bleeding, but it should be pretty light. Not heavy. And you should never have fever after having a baby. Fever usually means infection. As far as the baby is concerned, we've had to go to the ER with our baby, our first, and both my husband and I were in no condition to take care of her while we were being treated. A nurse took her and played with her. They are used to stuff like that, and really, if she is in a car seat, there should be no reason to take her out, unless you want someone to hold her. I guess my thought is, take care of yourself, so that you can care for your baby too. And if that means taking your baby to the ER with you, then so be it. Hope you feel better soon. It's stinky to be sick when you have one so little to care for too. ((((hugs))))

Bee, if I was you, I wouldn't have waited a day, let alone two, before seeking medical advice. I am thinking that maybe you don't appreciate just how potentially serious this could be. Can you not go to the ER this afternoon? Hoping you're ok.

No I understand how serious this could be, but I am very weary about taking my daughter to the ER with me, I have someone that can go with me tomorrow so she can at least make sure that she is cared for, at the moment I am more paranoid about my daughters health then to go rushing to the hospital for mine. I have already decided that if my fever gets any higher then I will go today, but right now it is staying the same, and I would hope that means it's not getting any worse whatever it is. I don't really know though becuase I don't have any health problems and never have any.

at the moment I am more paranoid about my daughters health then to go rushing to the hospital for mine. Thing is, your daughter is dependent on you. If you get sick tonight, in the night, who will look after her then? quote:

Anything over 100.4 is considered HIGH in a newly delivered mother. I am sorry to keep on at you, but this could already be really really serious.

Bee, I am glad that you went in, too. I know it can be hard when you are trying to care for a little one. I'm so very glad that you called the pastor's wife, and she came to help you; it is really a praise to God... I love seeing the Church being loving and helpful to people (I might tear up over that stuff... happy and so right...) I'm praying for you and your situation.

My post just got eaten. I'm so glad to hear you got those antibiotics (and not all pain killers make you loopy, so it might not hurt to try just one). How wonderful that the Pastor's Wife was able to be there for you.
