Good evening, Cap'n Woman!
I must admit, some of the joy of this thread has been the simple turning of being late from the guy's actions to the gal's. And then the extreme- that the guy is not exactly on time, but is a little early.

You are right in thinking this would truly be our first date. That fiasco with Jack&Jill at the Cafe de la Large Portions does not deserve the justice of being called a date.

Thanks for your reply!

I live by myself in my own mondo condo and I have done this more than once! (Dropped the contact down the drain). I would let you in the door, tell you the situation and then try to retrieve it.

If I still lived with my mom, she would grill you with all sort of uncomfortable questions and you'd be praying for me to finish up and come out fast!

I am though usually done way ahead of time on a first date with my make up...contacts and such.

Let's see...if I were at my parents house, I would text Thing 1 (because my room was faaar away from the front door) and tell him my eyeball just fell down the drain. He'd laugh, tell my father who would come up with some lame joke that you would feel obligated to chuckle at. I'm apologising a head of time for him. He's kind of...weird.

If I were at my house I would peek around the corner and tell someone to tell you to come on in, but I was busy at the moment.

My kids probably already know you because I have yet to "date" someone they didn't know so be prapared to be physically attacked by Thing 2 and have Thing 1 roll his eyes at him. Then you'll have to sit there and watch as the two of them roll on the floor wrestling because Thing 2 was offended by Thing 1's eye rolling.

Then somehow or another Thing 2 would start crying and Thing 1 would yell, "Mum! I didn't do it!!! He ran into the wall!"

I would stumble out of the dining room half blind trying to find out what happened while shielding my blind eye.

I'd get it figured out, get back in the bathroom and realise I didn't have a spare contact so I'd yank the other one out, grab my glasses and try to fix my hair and makeup from being so stressed and flustered in those few short minutes.

By then you're wishing you had just gone to see Bette Midler in concert rather than be on a date with me.

Dear Tink,
Given the choices of where to pick you up, I believe it'd be your house, with the offer to transport the wrestling federation to mom and dad's. They may well live in another state, but for the purposes of this exercise, let's say that's a five minute job. I'm assuming they can be isolated that long in the car and just ask questions like (does this thing raise and lower the window and this one lock and unlock the door? and such until we got there. In fact, I'd probably have included my old GI Joe with kung fu grip and 6Mil man dolls in the back seat, or maybe the hulk doll, so they could enact the next TV episode.

Sometimes, the more casual and relaxed the dating couple is, the better the time (like how I could appear after the left side mirror bulb blew while shaving electric. lol
