This is exactly the way they shape public opinion among those who rely on the likes of MSNBC, MTV, and Bill Maher for their "facts." quote:

This issue, strangely, isn't going away, and today's tin-foil hat brigade might just end up forcing tomorrow's constitutional crisis.

I think you've stated well the reason why so few want to actively care about defending the constitution. It requires a willingness to dwell on the subject a bit and maybe write letters, make phone calls, sign petitions, offer support to those who have signed on for the job of defending the constitution. After getting and accepting the Patriot Act and a whole bunch of other stupid pieces of legislation rammed down our throats after 9/11, after accepting the SCOTUS setting the law on the most controversial issue of the last 40 years, why is anyone suprised that no one cares about the Constitution? I'd like to see the document to but really the Constitution doesn't mean anything to the government that governs or to the people that are covered by it so I'm not going to get in a hissy about this.

Although you may not like "the Patriot Act and a whole bunch of other stupid pieces of legislation," those very things may have saved us from more 9-11 episodes. Since neither of us are in a position to know that for sure, I thank God for giving our leaders the wisdom to enact legislation that can protect us and our way of life. quote:

I don't understand why what political party is in power would apparently dictate for some people whether or not they should care about a constitutional issue. Whether or not our elected officials or president even care about it is irrelevant.

It isn't nearly as important what material you use as it is what shape you use. For those with no expertise in tin (or aluminum) foil hats, you might want to look up the latest research on the subject. It turns out that the uninitiated can actually be ATTRACTING and ENHANCING those mind-numbing frequencies they are trying to avoid!!! Take it from me. You do NOT want to do that! Here is THE definitive study on the subject! Of course, copper foil hats have yet to be fully explored in the lab. Theorectically, it should be among the best materials. But, I've noticed that my bald spot turns green when I wear mine in the summer heat. So, it definitely has to be WAY more effective than tin or aluminum to replace them. Now, you HAD to know that I would be UP ON the LATEST SCOOP on Tin Foil Hats, now didn't you? Excuse me. But, I have to go close my blinds. That pesky Black Helicopter is hovering out in my back yeard again! You can't really see it; but, the rotor wash really shakes the house! So, I KNOW it's out there!!! quote:

That's sad to hear. The opposite of love is NOT hate. It's APATHY. And, APATHY is just as dangerous to one's freedom as it is to relationships. People can and do get hurt trying to stand up for what is right. But, it is worth that effort for those that we love and those who come after us. People may not listen to us any more than they listened to the prophets in the Bible as they tried to warn their own people. But, who is remembered? The people or the prophet? Who is admired? The people or the prophet. I know that we are not prophets in the same sense that they were. But, it's always been true that those who stand up for what is right, in the end, are admired and vidicated by history. And, those that go with the flow are despised and ridiculed. quote:

This isn't going to go away just because O was elected. quote:
The key is in the following statement which also appears in the Petition: "Should Senator Obama be discovered, after he takes office, to be ineligible for the Office of President of the United States of America and, thereby, his election declared void, Petitioners, as well as other Americans, will suffer irreparable harm in that an usurper will be sitting as the President of the United States, and none of the treaties, laws, or executive orders signed by him will be valid or legal." Part of that statement bears repeating: "... none of the treaties, laws, or executive orders signed by him will be valid or legal." In other words, as long as this case is in the courts, a cloud hangs over Senator Obama's head and for the sake of our Constitution and our Republic, the issue MUST be resolved!

Here's one case biting the dust: The Supreme Court has turned down an emergency appeal from a New Jersey man who says President-elect Barack Obama is ineligible to be president because he was a British subject at birth.

It was one of the dumber arguments, and that's saying a lot. Salon has an excellent article on the whole affair: Why the stories about Obama's birth certificate will never die Nothing short of a quick trip in a time machine to Hawaii, 1961 will convince these folks now.

Why is an article completely based on so many lies deemed 'excellent' by you? quote:

Because it is. As I said before, the fuss over Obama's "natural born" status has long since crossed-over into classic conspiracy theory territory -- as soon as the "evidence" was posted that the birth certificate Obama produced was a forgery. I wouldn't expect a "truther" like you to agree. Just yesterday I saw people claiming that Obama's comment that "like me, General Shinseki grew up in Hawaii" as opposed to saying "like me, General Shinseki was born in Hawaii" was yet more proof that Obama is lying about being born in Hawaii. And I just found out that the supposed smoking gun of Obama's Kenyan grandmother claims on tape that Obama was born in Kenya is a dud too -- when you look at the questions in context, it's obvious she's confusing Obama Jr with Obama Sr and even corrects herself later.
