Smokey, how're you doing?

I'm not doing so hot-shot. I'm "pre-grieving." I believe the Lord is going to let us exercise our free will (nationally) and make a bad decision today. I'm grieving for the consequences.

I'm not doing well today. I ended up breaking my promise to God to fast and pray about the election due to medication that required food. I hope God forgives me.

I'm still praying for McCain to win, because if Obama wins, we're in deep trouble.

I'm sure God knows your heart and He absolutely will forgive you. But you can still pray! I am!

During the Bush/Clinton election, my two friends promised to fast and pray until Bush was declared the winner. That was the year that it dragged on for weeks..........I'm pretty sure they broke their fast. And were forgiven.

I find it comforting to know that, even if McCain is not elected, God is still in control and it will all work for His plan and purposes. But I really want McCain to win.

I posted this link over in the HS folder, but if Kerr doesn't mind, I think I'll post it here too. It gave me a new peace about the whole election thing. My mom is all wigged out about the election, I printed it and let her read it and she is still wringing her hands and all hibbity jibbity.

This is my favorite part:

Christ is. And Christ will be ruling over his people with perfect supremacy no matter who is elected and no matter what government stands or falls. -John Piper

With that said. I'm not watching any news today. I don't want to hear the results when the polls are 1%, 5%, or even 50% in. I want to know the results when they are 100% in.

I have a "Lost in Space" dvd from Netflix we are going to watch tonight.

I'm with you, Beckey. I don't want to hear partial results either!! While I understand about the Kingship of Christ in my life (and, of course, other believers), I think that America is fixing to have some very rough times ahead. I'm afraid a lot of damage is going to be done that cannot be undone to a country that was founded on God but has turned away from Him.

The early returns show that GVfan has the lead over Ms Giz, but we have until November 30 until it's final.

What's all this praying and fasting about?

I agree, exit polls are virtually useless. If you are for McCain, don't be discouraged by them. If you are for Obama, don't get too excited over them. They have historically overestimated Democratic votes, possibly because Democrats are more likely to participate in them.

And you will know the answer soon anyway.

I watch the news cranky. In fact, sports and news are about all I watch on TV, except for the occasional classic comedy.

Elsewhere I posted that I have been alive for (counting this one) fourteen Presidential elections, and that not a single one of them has changed my life one iota. I don't expect this one to be any different.

Regardless of who you are for, the other one is probably not nearly as bad as he has been made out to be by his opponents.

I will pray hard for the winner, as I don't envy him dealing with the mess that will be thrust upon him to clean up. In any event, our country will be fine.

I admit that I'm not confident the U.S. will be fine, but I am confident that God is sovereign and because of that, I will be fine.

Yep! That's not to say that we might not have a bumpy road ahead, but God is faithful.

"So do not fear, for I am with you. Do not be dismayed for I am your God. I will strengthen you and I will help you. I will updhold you with my righteous right hand"

(somewhere in Isaiah )

I'm a firm believer that God is making this decision. That's all that matters to me. I know that He will protect us no matter who is president.

And if worse comes to worse i'll move to Australia.

I went to a funeral home the other night, and in the open coffin was a McCain/Palin bumper sticker. It made me laugh, then later I wondered if Tom had voted before he died. I wish I had thought to ask.

That is exactly how I've felt. In a way, I don't know how God can continue to bless the country since it has turned its back on Him but I'm comforted in the fact that God promises to care for His people. I also pray we can continue to be a testimony full of faith and peace to a fearful world.
