It's not just the men

Eh. We don't know we will do, most likely DH will just get a vasectomy but I'll also need a hysterectomy at some point to treat a prolapse issue so who knows... We haven't had any need to cross that bridge yet.

We use condoms now because we want to have children eventually. However, once we do, we've already discussed my husband getting the V. We do not plan on condoms being a life-long solution.

And interestingly, I as the woman do most of the (minimal) effort. I buy them, I ensure that we have plenty on hand, and I am the one who... shall we say, makes sure it's properly employed at the appropriate time.

While it is the most convenient of all methods we tried after I had to go off BCP, I will say that both of us are really looking forward to the time when we are ready for a baby and won't have to bother with it anymore.

If you don't mind me asking...why would you do both?

We wouldn't, that's why the toss-up. I just need to get to a point where I feel done having kids, then I think I won't have a huge issue(although I'm sure I will have some grief process) getting all the prolapse fixed.

Yes, same with me.

Ah...thanks. That makes sense.

We have never considered Brian having a vasectomy, and we've known about my endometriosis for years so we've always assumed I would take care of it.

We knew long before our first was even conceived that three was "our number". We never really discussed what we would do to prevent pregnancy, but after realizing that all of my kids would be born via c-section it just made sense to do a tubal at the same time as the third c-section. So that's what we did.

I was wondering if anybody has had the new tubal surgery. It is not major surgery anymore, it is an in/out procedure (according to my doctor and the one friend who had it done.) I guess that's why I don't consider it necessary to push my husband to have it done. Like I said before, mine would be free, where we would have to pay $1000 for him - that's a pretty big incentive for me. The one drawback that I can see is that I've read that tubals are much harder to reverse than a vasectomy.
