The 2008 elections were...nasty. I don't think race was ever a part of the presidential election before in my lifetime the way it was in this race. I don't believe President Obama won. The media won. Our nation will not go straight to hell. We will lose jobs. Lose confidence in our country. We will be told over and over how bad we are. How we should act and speak. A morality will be shoved down our throats with the media's help. We will overcome it in 4 years. The truth will come out eventually and even his own party will abandon President Obama. My prediction is, sometime after the mid term elections President Obama will be impeached. We really do not know the man we elected. We should pray for him. We should not act like the left did with Bush in power. The overblown hatred was sickening, false and not christian. Lets not name call. We must respect the office even if we do not respect the man's positions. Hence...President Obama. We must make our positions known. We MUST be kind and courtious and we must be adament. We CANNOT compromise even if we are classifed as racists...or commiting hate crimes. We may even go to jail, but we cannot be anything more or less than...christian. Maybe a true minority for the first time in our nation's history. Fear not. President Obama won the election but God is on the throne.

What this election means to me, and should mean to other conservatives, is that when you present yourself and your campaign as championing conservative values you will win elections.

I think another thing that stood out for me in my reflections is the same thing that SoninMe1 mentioned ... that I don't really know who Barack Obama is. I mentioned that I hoped the Obama hype and speeches can be backed up now with action and positive results (he's so inspiring), but like many, I too feel I do not know the man this nation elected as President as of yet. We shall soon see though. .... On the other hand, I also liked what Peggy Noonen said on Oprah today when she said Obama's graceful demeanor stood out greatly throughout his campaign. She said that Obama's gracefulness was different from most politicians in that he was graceful when he didn't have to be. The example she gave was when the media was attacking Palin's family and the unwanted pregnancy of Palin's teen daughter...Obama when asked about it gracefully difused the situation and rather than take advantage of an opportunity to attack her he said that his own mother had him when she was 18. It was a move of grace and refusal to play dirty politics. I think Obama shows a great deal of class and calmness in his communication. I may not always agree with his points, but he absolutely says them with great effect and is polite. He has not been quick to anger or disrespectful in his speech and demeanor (there are some arguable exceptions, but even then, he has been the most consistently graceful speaker I've seen compared tot he likes of Hillary Clinton and John McCain). He is like an true gentlemen and I like that part of him. In fact, it exemplifies many Christian virtues found in Proverbs on how to be liked and also an effective leader. So good for Barack for showing this side of him. ....

One other thing that's been talked about a lot is the emergence of the new generation of young voters. They are the 20-30 something generation whose political voices have only recently begun to be heard (and mocked at times - for lack of intelligence), but are nevertheless a powerful force for future elections. It'll be interesting to see how politicians try to court this "young" voting bloc. They are a diverse crowd that seems bonded together by idealism similarly seen in the 60's of wanting to "perfect this great nation." ...That's something I think we could talk about more too.
