I would like to congratulate President-Elect Barack Obama, you ran a diligent and a hard fought campaign. This was a well deserved victory for you, your entire family, all your supporters, and for America. United we shall stand regardless of our race, gender, or religion. I hope we can put all our differences aside and be fully supportive of our President for the next 4 years.

I just saw McCain's concession speech. Very classy.

Congratulations to our next president.

Congratulations to President Obama and his supporters; it was a hard fought race, and he fully deserves his victory. Whatever one's view of Obama, it is a historic moment, and we should all appreciate that and the opportunity we are given every four years to make such a choice.

I agree that this is a historic moment for the country - a realization of the dream that Martin Luther King had so many years ago. Both Obama and McCain campaigned vigorously and it was definitely a hard fought race. President-Elect Obama will need a lot of prayer during these critical times as will Bush in his final days as president. And I agree, McCain's concession speech was very classy - but I wouldn't have expected anything less.

I liked McCain's concession speech.

I've decided that tomorrow I'm going to go to the Reps. and volunteer lots of time.

I can already tell I am going to vomit every time Martin Luther King comes up ever five seconds of the next four years. Barack did NOT win because of the content of his character, let's get that straight right now. He won because he is a good illusionist and was able to fool the majority of the audience.

I congratulate him for winning, but that doesn't suddenly make him some saint. I think MLK would be sad.

I agree Obama winning has nothing to do with MLK Dream.

I agree Sue.

Congrats are still due, but that doesn't mean that I think he is the right man (or woman) for the job. I will be in prayer for him just as I have prayed for every other president.

Jamie,

I was thinking almost the EXACT same line: For the first time in my adult lifetime, I am ASHAMED of my country.

I guess you really can fool most of the people some of the time.

I've stressed over this election all day. I tried several things to get myself to relax. Nothing was working. I lost count of how many times I "gave it to God" today. I didn't start to relax until McCain gave his speech. (I must say that is the best speech I've ever heard McCain give.)

I had a chat with God before I logged on tonight. He reminded me that He is still in control. Obama may think he has power, but he ain't got nothing on God.

Besides, I didn't really vote for McCain, I was just voting against obama.

All I have been thinking since I have been studying the Roman Empire in College is how much we have followed in Romes Path. Rome went from a Republic to a having an Emperor because politicians started promising the masses that the govt. would take care of them. Just a few decades before Ceaser a couple of the councels had promised the masses free grain for the really poor, grain caps for the sorta poor and started having urban projects across the empire so that people could have jobs working for the state. Sound familer to anyone? Ceaser was able to build on that and declare himself emperor for life and even though he was assinsated Octavian was able to build on that as well.

We will see what happens with Obama and the democrats now in charge of all 3 branches of govt. I'm not holding out much hope thought. I think my new signiture says it all.

Perfectly stated... Did you have a hand in McCain's speech?

It is time that we, as believers, remember our Christian obligation to pray for the president, whoever he may be.

I too congrulate Obama for his victory. I also loved McCain's speach. It had dignity and compassion.

Now is the time to remember we are American's proud or not and to pray for God's work in Obama. For our Country and the mess this country is in right now to be patient and all work to get us out of it.

GOD BLESS OUR AMERICA!

Congratulations, Mr. Obama.

The Lord knew who would be our President long before our election and He knew why that choice was to be made and why it was of importance. His reasons may have little or nothing to do with ours. There is nothing in Mr. Obama's election alone to lead us to presume the Lord has removed his had from our nation.

As to placing other things of importance before the Lord, that's been a problem for a lot longer than just this election and involves many more issues than just homosexuality and abortion. There are also money, possessions, work, beauty/vanity, greed, the slavery created by debt, drugs, adultery, gambling, perversions other than homosexuality - there are many things the people of this nation (including many Christians) see as their lords or masters equal to or before the true Lord, whether they recognize that they do so or not.

I still can't believe it.

4 years ago at the height of the Bush administration's xenophobia and paranoia I would have never thought that a black guy named Barack Hussein Obama would have ever had a chance at becoming our next president.

Perhaps I'm being a bit hyperbolic when I say this (and in all honestly, I just got home and am still a bit drunk), but this is my generation's moon landing.

Seriously.

I was at a friend's house watching the returns and we couldn't believe that he actually won.

Tomorrow the euphoria will probably reside, and I will take another sober look at the incredibly daunting obstacles that face our next president (something which no man could probably face up to, much less resolve fully, no matter how hyped he is -Obama is only human after all, and there will be an inevitable crash at some point), but right now, and for this moment, I am so happy.

I want to leave it at that for tonight.

As an Australian, sadly I fear that a dark cloud could descend over America. The only thing that has made America and the world safe since 911 was a leader that stood firmly to his convictions no matter what. I do not see this trait in the new American leader and sadly, as much as we like to joke about it, the tyrants of the world could be given the upper hand.

America, whether we all like it or not, is the most powerful country in the world. With this power comes great responsibility. Unfortunately this responsibility will include to deal with the ugly side of this world. I pray that Obama understands this and does not back down when the going gets tough. What Obama does or does not do will affect this world.

Anyhow...

Congratulations to Obama. It would have been a hard slog and the victory was well deserved. Even if Obama ends up been a dud, chin up, he will be better then our wishy washy Prime Minister (Kevin 747) who is full of spin and no substance.
