ORIGINAL: luvmy3kids I too congrulate Obama for his victory. I also loved McCain's speach. It had dignity and compassion. Now is the time to remember we are American's proud or not and to pray for God's work in Obama. For our Country and the mess this country is in right now to be patient and all work to get us out of it. GOD BLESS OUR AMERICA! i also loved mccain's farewell speech. when the crowd booed obama he told them to be quiet and i thought that showed alot about his character. sad to see such a great guy go.

"The king's heart is in the hand of the Lord; He directs it like a watercourse wherever He pleases" Prov 21:1 I think believers, no matter how they voted, should keep this at the forefront of their minds- If you voted for Obama, be gracious and pray that God guides him and the nation. If you voted against Obama, be gracious and pray that God guides him and the nation. All of this bitter 'end of the USA' talk is just bunk- we go through this every time someone is elected, especially if 'our guy' loses. Let's not lose sight of why we are here as believers- not to push a political or social-economic agenda, but to win hearts for God, to be a light to the world. Let's remember what kingdom we are ultimately part of, and serve accordingly.

But we are also called to stand up for what we believe in. I care about the poor and therefore I will be praying for them diligently and I put my vote where my mouth is. I will also be writing more letters in the coming years.

Unfortunately, I cannot congratulate Barack Obama for winning because my gut (and his limited record) tells me what a disaster he is going to be for this nation. But we survived Carter, we survived Clinton, and the last four years of Bush...we'll survive the Chosen One as well...

I predicted a landslide for McCain. I was wrong...ain't the first time. I congratulate President Obama. He accomplished his goal. I will be praying for him. I don't think this nation will go to hell. If we can survive Nixon and Ford and Carter we can survive President Obama. I would aslo like th thank Bush sr. and President Bush for destroying conservatism as we know it. Clinton paved some of those raods but Bush ( W ) sure topped him. Lord, guide our president elect to make wise decisions and to open his eyes to You. In everything we give you all the glory, in Jesus name amen.

America has spoken. They have chosen SOCIALISM over individual freedom. Amazing the shift from JFK's "Ask not what your country can do for you, ask what you can do for your country" to "Barack's gonna pay for my gas and mortgage"

Congratualations to President-Elect Obama....and to Senator McCain..who concession speech - a class act. It's a great day in America.....where the son of an African immigrant can overcome racial and religious stereotypes to become POTUS. What stronger democtratic message can America send to the world than that?

ORIGINAL: Veritas I just saw McCain's concession speech. Very classy. Congratulations to our next president. yes...the most gracious concession speech in recent memory. quote:
I agree that this is a historic moment for the country - a realization of the dream that Martin Luther King had so many years ago. CLOSE to the realization of "The Dream"....but, still not what I would consider a complete "realization".... why? First, MLK's dream was to look at people with NO REGARD to color, and to look at CHARACTER. Clearly, far too many people were voting merely on Obama's color, with no regard to his character (or lack thereof).....somehow, that's not considered "racism"....though, if I were to say I voted for "the other guy" merely because of his race, I would be sent off to some kind of "sensitivity training"..... There have been MANY MANY other "firsts" (or "seconds"), with regards to African-Americans: Condoleezza Rice, Colin Powell, Clarence Thomas, Michael Steele, and many many others.....but, those "firsts" go virtually ignored....simply because of politics. I find it completely hypocritical that the NAACP fought Clarence Thomas' nomination to the Supreme Court....and left Michael Steele "out to dry", while running for Lt. Governor.....it leaves one to wonder, exactly what does that organization SUPPOSED to stand for? Until ALL PEOPLE (black and white), can look BEYOND color....the Dream is still just a Dream...

John McCain was gracious in defeat. Talk all you want about bad "Gut Feelings" and try to distance Obama from MLK's dream all you want (though that's the silliest thing I've heard on this site). Fact is: Obama's our President now. What happened to "Country First"? John McCain realized that part of "Country First" is standing behind our new President instead of being a sore loser. Kudos to him. ...or does "Country First" only apply when your guy wins?

Amen Brother, as a child of Cuban Immigrants I can proudly say that America has taken a huge leap in ridding itself of the racial stains our country's history has had. I was so proud of my country last night, the last time I was that proud was when I swore in to Active Duty 11 years ago! McCain WoULD Have been a great President......8-12 years ago.

I accept the fact that Obama is our new president, but I feel I am not able to congratuale him. Even if McCain would have won I do not believe congratulations would be appropriate. This was a a bad election process and yet one more example of how our political system is moving away from what is important to whatever it takes to win. I do believe that either Obama or McCain would have represented where this country is and where it wants to go. Apparently, many believe Obama represnts it better than McCain. They may very well be right. I pray they are, only histroy will tell. Yes, this is an historic election and symbolically significant. However, I do not see it as totally resolving our differences. It goes a long way, but it is not the end. Now the test begins. A lot still hinges on how people react, on all sides, A lot hinges on how people use this opportunity to truely work together. Are we really going to see CHANGE or a continuation of the same political polorization and victory-all (my political party is better than yours) that is dividing this country?

Making sure that Obama's agenda doesn't see the light of day. THAT is putting "America and Country First".....

Lets pay attention to what Mccain said, especially all the mccain admirers here. He shushed up the crowd who were booing obama's win. he said he was going to work with obama and lets get behind him to make this country work. thats what we can do. and just because peopel have not done it in the past,, does not mean we cant do it for the future.
